What's the information needed to see, if possible, what caused the crash? Some kind of .log file right? Bought a new laptop recently and I've had 3 crashes today. Game's running smoothly on the current settings. |

You can find the log file in Documents/PCM11 and it is called "Pro Cycling Manager 2011". You have to open it with Notepad

Would this help in any way? Picked the last couple of lines in the file. |

If you have random crashes, then your best bet would be to reduce the graphical options. I never can remember which ones are the most RAM exhausting options, but turn off the recording of the replay in case you don't need it. |

I just find it odd. With 8 GB ram and a game that runs completely 100% smoothly throughout the entire race on the current graphical settings. |

Memory crash at the end of a stage
On a 32 bit application, Windows doesn't authorize a memory consommation above 1,8 Go of RAM. As Pro Cycling Manager 2011 uses the maximum of the graphic capacities, it can sometimes reach this limit. This generates crashes when the application runs with overestimated options. Reducing the graphic config is the only way to solve the problem |

Hey Thomas, I know your feeling. Having a high-end pc and then being forced to turn down the graphics settings. Like you, I have W7 64 bit, 8GB of RAM and everything else you'd expect from a modern day computer.
Unfortunately, Cyanide is still living in the past, and therefore they have only released the game in 32-bit mode, and will do so as well for PCM2012. The problem with 32-bit programs is that they can only use 1.8 GB of RAM, making all the extra memory you and I both have completely useless. Appearantly, Cyanide still thinks 2GB of RAM is the standard, even though pc's, tablets and even some cell phones have more RAM than that nowadays.
The game should be able to run with only 1,8GB of RAM, even on max settings with the standard DB. The problem occurs when you install a bigger better DB like the PCM2012DB. In order to run such a larger DB with more riders, tracks and equipment, you need to lower your graphics settings to compensate.
Unfortunately, there is no way to circumvent the 1,8 GB limit. Believe me, I tried. You can read about it here: https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....d_id=20594
Making the game use more ram would require modifying the .exe, which isn't possible with public tools, because of the DRM that comes with the game. Downloading a cracked .exe for PCM2011 is also practically impossible, as you really can't find any. |

Hi, ShortsNL.
Thanks for that informative reply. What is there to say really? It's.. It's Cyanide... I've been playing the game since the first in the series, bar the 2008-2010 editions, which were too damanding for my PC, so I am kind of used to the rubbish that they throw at us. Unfortunately, deep down in the bottom of the rubbish can, there's an addictive and remarkably funny game. I bet I just have to swallow a bit of pride, lowering down the settings and be satisfied that the problem is on Cyanide. What a joke it is though.
Anyway, thanks again.
