This is the story about Simon Spilak. A rider who fell back after his breakthrough year 2010. That's why he joined Adria Mobil to relaunch his career.
Rider Information and Bio
DOB: 23/06/1986
Born in: Tisina (Slovenia)
Height: 176 cm
Weight: 68 kg
Years Pro: 5
Simon's first notable result was his 3rd place on the WC for juniors in 2004. He finished behind Kreuziger and Chtooui on the course in Verona. It took three more years before he broke through in the U23 category. He then rode great in the Tour de l'Avenir, where he finished 4th and the WC in Stuttgart. This resulted in a pro contract with the Lampre Pro-Tour team.
That is when Simon showec his potential on the cobbles. He finished 8th in the Ronde van Vlaanderen while helping teammate Ballan to the 4th place, only in his 4th month as a pro. Spilak kept growing and took a nice win in the 2009 Tour of Slovenia. His best result sofar came in 2010. After winning the 4th stage, Simon finished 2nd in the overal in the Tour de Romandie. But winner Alejandro Valverde got cancelled after his ban so it was Spilak's first Pro Tour win. He started the 2011 with big hopes but had a lot of injury trouble. Lampre didn't renew his contract so he went back to Adria Mobil.
Team Adria Mobil is a team consisting of 12 Slovenians and 2 Croatians. Spilak is the clear leader but Nose, Vrecer and Kump should all get free roles. The others are mostly teammates. The team will mainly aim to races in Italy.
These are the races Adria Mobil will be participating in the first two months of the season. Simon will ride them all.

i really liked the geox story although i never commented so i thought it would be a good start here
well i didnt vote for adria but i really think it will be interesting to see how he handles the leader role in such a small team at least he is the undisputed leader so what are his main goals - tour of slovenia or maybe austria?

Adria Mobil
The Adria Mobil squad is led by Simon Spilak. He had a strong winter and his shape is decent so he should certainly compete for a top 5 spot. Kump, Fajt and Mugerli are good domestiques who should certainly help him.

Giro della Calabria: Stage 1
The Giro della Calabria starts with a hard finish. The last 5 kms are uphill and we should see the first fight between the favourites. Spilak will try to stay as close to the best.
The race started with a break of 14. Most important riders at the front are Kojcan (Team Type 1), Caruso (Liquigas), Spezialletti (Lampre) and Dyachenko (Astana).
Although Katusha, Vacansoleil and Team Type 1 organised a chase, the gap was still over 2' when the pack passed the 10 km banner. It became clear the escapees would fight for the win.
3 of them attacked right before the climb and start with a 20" advantage. Kurek (Utensilnord), Rosch (Atlas) and Nakane (Nipp) are not the strongest punchers so try something from a bit further out.
Florencio is the onlyone from the favourites to make a move on the hill. Spilak has Fajt to help him so he doesn't respond.
At the front, Kojcan has passed everyone and holds a small advantage over a bigger chasing group when the surge to the line starts. Spezialetti and Jorgensen are trying to come closer.
But Kojcan finished strong and growed his lead to take a nice victory in his first race of the season. He was clearly the strongest puncher at the front and didn't disappoint.
Spilak led home the first group with favourites 1'20 behind Kojcan and 20' behind Florencio.

Simon's take
I can be satisfied with my result. It was a shame we had nobody in the break but so was the tactic. I didn't feel great so let Florencio go but I had enough power to beat all the others. This is promising for the remaining stages.
