Hey all,
I have a quick question for you.
My scout has found a couple of young riders, and I'm wondering what to do about these guys.
1. I can "Monitor" them - that's clear enough.
2. I can "Contact" them and try to sign them.
I suppose they then simply become a member of the team the following season?!
3. I can offer them a sponsorship
A. Equipment
B. Equipment + Training
C. Equipment + Training + Wages
This is where my confusion starts (again)
What I don't know is, what happens if I "Sponsor" a rider instead of signing him?
Can he still sign for other teams then?
Does it make him better (compared to simply signing him) if I sponsor him for most of the season and sign him late in the season (possible gamling on him not being signed by another team?) |

He will continue riding at the U23 races which he won't if you sign him. By sponsoring him, you can also sign him more easily by the end of the season. It has no influence on his potential though (I think, never noticed it)

The sponsorship is a neat feature which sadly has absolutely functionality in this game.
He can still sign for any team, he does not get better.
The best thing would be to sign a young rider as trainee. (trainee = joins in august or was it september?)
But I am not sure if this works correctly always. Signing him as trainee too late would make him join your team at the end of the next season instead of joining immediately. |

Ah, cool. I didn't consider the U23 races at all
It's nice to know that it will be easier to sign him later on though.
About his skills, I wasn't thinking about maximum potential.
I was thinking about the "development speed" of his "current attributes" during that season that passes before he "actually" joins my team the following season.
So basically a question if the attributes increase faster when he's sponsored than if he is not sponsored (during the current season, where he's not actually a part of my team)?
I'm mainly wondering, since I don't really see the point in the different sponsorships if it isn't the case. If he doesn't develop faster with my sponsorship, I really might as well just sign him right away, if I know that I want him, right?
EDIT:
Nevermind this post - Lachi's post cleared it up while I was bussy writing
Thanks for clearing it up, both!

I don't think U23 riders their stats change during their season(s) in the U23 circuit. But im not sure about this. Would be intresting if someone could confirm this.
For your question: Personally, i don't do any of those sponsorships. I just sign riders who my scouts say are good and get good results in the U23 circuit.

Yeah, it seems that simply signing them is the way to go.
I would just really love for the game to have more of a "manager" feel to it, so I'm trying to squeeze all manager stuff out of it if I possibly can |

I find that most of the manager part comes from your own attitude ... if u act as though these elements matter then its a much better game ... shame they dont matter in the end

How can you be able to sign more easily someone who simply accepts any offer you make to him? U23 riders will never reject your contract offers, unless perhaps they are already in negotiations with other team, but it never happened to me. |

LIke most of the elements in PCM, you have to use your imagination most of the time... otherways it won't have any effect. |
