Tour de Langkawi discussion
Smowz
The HC rated Tour de Langkawi has the big climbs early this year with the first five stages steadily ramping up in difficulty.
img714.imageshack.us/img714/5310/parcours1x.jpg

The last five stages could be breakaway territory, but there are plenty of sprinters here looking as they often have done in ManGame history to showcase their talents.
img266.imageshack.us/img266/5439/parcours2.jpg

The favourites for the overall here have to be Italians Caruso and Marzano, along with Spanish climber Castano and Red Bull's John Gadret. All have decent results in GrandTours behind them and look a different class to most of the rest of the team leaders.

Schwab, Kern, Agudelo and Stetina may fancy themselves as outside podium shouts.

Some teams such as Proximus Trek and Unicredit seem more content to focus on the sprints bringing star turns suchs as Cavendish and Napolitano to the party.

I think I did a good move, when I avoided this race. Good luck for all involved!

I'm looking forward to this one. Hopefully Agudelo can step up as a leader, and do a top 10 here, if he can't, all stages that ends uphill will be hard for us, as Jørgensen probably won't have the kick on stage 1. And hopefully Vasquez can surprise on stage 5, it should be great for him, short in distance, with a big climb.

I doubt we can score very many points here, compared to other teams, but hopefully we will be in the breakaways, riding offensively. And it would be great if Jørgensen could snatch a stage win on one of the 5 last stages, then I will be more than satisfied Smile

Pellizotti2
Hopefully Caruso is fit enough to score us some points here. Will be an interesting fight for the overall.

I think crashes have been important in this race the last couple of years....will be nervous race for some of the favourites.

Levi4life
My expectations for this race are rather low. Stetina should be good for a top 10. I'm hoping, though not expecting, Jeannesson and Colex can get in a sticking break and that Sinner can get a stage win.

Really hoping for a good result from Marzano here, this ios pretty much Marzano, Sabatini and the youngsters... Marzano to win the mountain stage and then Unicredit/Proximus to avoid breakaways on the remaining flat stages Grin

ANFreeman
This will definitely be an exciting one to follow. That said, I'm glad I didn't register for it...

The Management-Game Gazzette Issue #12

After India and the Mumbai classics, the CT peloton travels back to Asia for one of the oldest and most respected stage races in the continent, the HC categorised Tour de Langkawi. This Malayan event usually provides lots of chances for the sprinters with most of its stages being flat. In the overall, the race has always been decided in the only mountain stage of the Tour which climbs up to Genting Highlands, and with no time-trials this becomes a great opportunity for the pure climbers. With us we have Oz Cycling DS, tsmoha, previewing the event:

Q. Your team isn't known for its climbing prowess, so it'll be tough to have any GC ambitions. What's your plan for Langkawi?
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/oz-1.png We didn't sent our best climber here, Shaun Lewis. So our plan is to go for the flat stages. Ahmad Haidar Anuawar is top-motivated to gain some decent placements in the mass-sprint. It's his home-country, so we believe in a thing called nationatily-bonus. And Simon Clarke may do some suprise, too.

Q. About the sprints. This Tour is a dream for the sprinters with a huge amount of flat stages to be dealt with. How hard do you think it will be to win a mass sprint finish?
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/oz-1.png As for Oz Cycling: definitely very hard! Our best sprinter Cooke will focus on other races, so it's up to Anuawar and Clarke to compete with some sprinters, who may be better on the paper. But a paper can lie, if you know what I mean.

Q. What about the GC. Who do you think will be the main favourites to win atop Genting Highlands?
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/oz-1.png Caruso is definitely one of the top-favourites. And Gadret from Red Bull can do some damage here, too, I think.

Q. Talking about your team's future. Oz Cycling has been said to be one of the weakest teams of the Continental Division, however your men have been able to reach some unexpected results. Is it expectable that Oz Cycling will finish way above the predictions in the CT Overall Rankings?
i1215.photobucket.com/albums/cc512/ANFreeman/Jersey%20Sprites/oz-1.png Way above? I don't think so.. but don't get me wrong here: we always said, that we do believe in this team! I knew that Cooke, Bobridge or Lewis can bring in some decent results. I don't think that too many people expected even a single win for our team this season, so we have to be proud of our start into this year! But one thing is for sure: we definitely need some luck and perfect circumstances to achieve such results. The good thing is, that it's a win-win-situation: we have nothing to lose. If we don't finish last in the CT, people will say "Oh, they did well!".. and if we finish last, they will say "At least they tried". And so far in this season, we can be happy with our riders being very aggressive in breakaways.

Really exited about this race since for the first time in the season will the team have not one but to horses to play on!

- Barza should do decently in the sprints, while Castaño could perhaps challenge for the overall win though I believe Marzano will have an edge on the queen stage.

valverde321
I'm surprised at all the interest in this race, luckily we dont have any major goals here.

I'm here becuse this is one of the best races for a rider like Marzano with some nice climbs and no TT ;-)

Mark Cavendish was a bug signing for the Proximus Trek

Cavendish's buzzing has clearly annoyed Smowz Grin

I thought the same when I read it Pfft

Good win though.

On a slight side note - I love seeing Meiji riders get in the break. Their jerseys and helmets look fantastic, and it's nice to see the frame I made matching so well.

Hehe, I was hoping a more deliberate later Cav comment would get attention. But that is funnier!

Cool

Thank you!

Hoping for some more luck in the break tommorow. Lagutin could be dangerous from the break.

Nice win from Cavendish.

I'm a bit disappointed Jørgensen didn't try in the sprint, at least Agudelo and Vasquez came safely to the finish line. And kind of a nice try from Rojas, though, I prefer to see him working for Jørgensen on the flat stages.

Great that this stage race is rolling, very nice opening report Smowz, can't wait for the "bigger" stages.

Pellizotti2
Quite disappointed with stage one. Had expected at least a Top 10.

Hopefully the next stages will be better.
