Winning with Flecha

I’ve made a custom team and I started a career. My three main riders are Rodriguez, LL Sanchez and Flecha. I got no problems with Rodriguez and LL Sanchez having good results and winning, some majors and the Ardennes with the first and one week tours with the second, but Flecha…

I got a problem with Flecha, I’m not an expert of the Flanders classics but I think I got the bases. Flecha’s helpers are Rollin (cob 74), Docker (72) and Florencio (70). They aren’t the best but they can help him until the lasts kms. The problem is that I don’t find the way of winning a race with him. He’s got a great COB (81) and flat (80) rating but his lack of sprint (68) makes me try a late attack where I never succeed and at the end I'm without enery to have a decent sprint. If I try to wait with the best and follow Hushovd the best I can get is a top 5 result.

I don’ know why but the AI got crazy and told me that I have to win Gent-Wevelgem (4 stars), Ronde van Vlaanderen (3 stars) and Paris-Roubaix (5 stars). I think that this is impossible and the sponsor won’t be happy at all…

Can you give me some advice about how to ride with him? Thanks

What I do with Cancellara, who has no sprint skill to beat the best too, is to dot(effort) high before the last cobble section so he his the first on the beginning, then I let it like that a few seconds and then reduce it to ~50 effort so he doesn't run out of energy during the section. When the section ends, I try to adopt a time trial-like approach, finding the best effort rate for the remaining energy/kms.

I'm not to good at cobbled races so I try to stay clear of them, therefor I can't give ant good advice, but I would like to mention that the confidence of your sponsors doesn't matter one bit. I makes no difference wether they love you or hate you.

I swear I was thinking the exact same thing. I was like 'Man, PCM is more realistic than I thought!'

It depends on who is there in the favourites group towards the final. If there aren't many people then 68 should still be alright for at least a podium. If there are quite a few still left then try an attack with around 10km to go and hope that only one or two favourites are able or willing to go with you. If you are lucky you will stay away, but otherwise they will overtake you. With someone like Flecha, you have to take chances or else Cancellara / Hushovd / Boonen will beat you at the end.

Ultimately, as said... he doesn't win too many races for a reason.

I know... I was really surprised when I saw the goals... Not a single top 5 in the flanders...

The goals are just mental:

Stop whining, those are the exact same goals as I had when I only had Kurt Asle Arvesen as a decent rider. The goals in PCM are just mental. Since they don't do anything I never care about them. I plan my season frm my own interests, if I happen to complete a goal it's just pure luck and coincidence.
