Help me out here - huge dilemma
cactus-jack
I'm in Bayern Rundfarth and have only the last stage to go. I currently have the first and second place due to a bit of luck. they are occupied by Alexander Kristoff and my created rider.

Before the last stage the situation is this:
Overall GC:
1. Created rider (time trailer)
2. Alexander Kristoff + 5 sec
3. Schumacher +27 sec

Point Classification:
1. Kristoff 80
2. Schumacher 64

It's a flat stage with 3 intermediate sprints, that means there are 18 seconds to gain aswell as 25, 12 and 8 seconds to whoever comes in 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the finish.

The main problem for me is that I would like the created rider to win, but I also want the points jersey. If I come in at the first 3 places at the finish, then I would secure the point jersey, but Kristoff would take the GC, which isn't bad (it's actually quite good).

If I don't try to win the sprint with Kristoff then I risk losing the green jersey. I also can't get any intermediate points because there's only 5 seconds between 1st and 2nd.

I've cracked some numbers and I've come to the conclusion that if Schumacher wins the sprint then I would have to come in at 7th or better with Kristoff to secure the jersey, but I can't be better then 4th! And in a sprint it's quite difficult to aim for either 4th, 5th or 6th.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should do?

Go for the intermediate sprints with your created rider. Smile

The only problem is that he has 53 in sprints so it's a bit or a risk. I also risk Schumacher taking the 2nd or 3rd palce which means that he could possibly overtake Kristoff by getting a good result at the finish.

But Schumacher isn't a very strong sprinter (I think) so he probably has no chance to win the sprint at the finish

Sprint for the win, then if you see you're going to be better than 4th stop. Anyway, is Schumacher strong enough to win the sprint?

He has 71 in SP and 73 in ACC, but still he has been either 2nd or 3rd on the 3 earlier flat stages.

Edit: I should point out that due to very agressive riding by me (ripped the peloton to shreds every time there was a tiny climb) as good as every sprinter with more then 72 was blocked and ended up in groups for behind. There arn't that many good riders there, but I believe there are 4-5 with 74 or 75 in SP.

I suppose that if I simply take it easy and let the peloton take it somewhat easy the field will to good for Schumacher.
