Welcome to the new blog of the Geox-TMC road bycicle racing team. This blog will give you the story of the team in all their good and bad moments. The team will start this season with a good feeling. After some years of being clearly the worst team in the UCI Pro /World Tour, the relegation last year and searching for a good sponsor since 2008. The team has found a new head sponser. Shoe company Geox will sponsor the team and that gave the managers more financial power. With that financial power, they were able to sign some big riders. Two of the most succesful GT-riders of their generation joined the team. Carlos Sastre and Denis Menchov will lead our team the next years. Carlos Sastre joined our team when Cervelo joined Garmin where they had other, more important (for them) GC-riders. Denis Menchov comes over from Rabobank where he had to make place for Dutch hope Robert Gesink.
The team logo is also announced:
Furthrer information that will follow: history of our team, sponsor presentation with their goals, rider presentation, staf presentation, equipment presentation and announcement of the schedule for the first two months of the season.

History of the team
Saunier Duval was the second sponsor of team Vini Caldirola in the 200 season. When that team was disbanded. Saunier Duval started their own team with a Swiss license. The team had a good first year with two stage-victories in the Vuelta by Piepoli and Zaballa. But their most succesfull rider was Miguel Angel Martin Perdiguero who won three stages and the overall in the Volta a Catalunya and he also won one of the the ten world cup races; the Classica San Sebastian.
The 2005 season saw the start of the Pro-Tour and Saunier Duval was one of the 18 top teams. They won stages and finis hed on podiums of the overall in Pro-Tour races like Paris-Nice and Volta a Catalunya. The Classica San Sebastian was once again won by one of their riders, Constantino Zaballa won. His teammate Florencio was even second. They also saw a small young climber stand-up during the vuelta. Jaoquim Rodriguez showed his potential for the first time and took home the KoM-jersey.
For the 2006 season, they made a very big signing. Gilberto Simoni came to lead the team in the Giro. He didn't dissapoint and finished third in the GC. His teammate Piepoli also won two mountain stages. Jose Angel Gomez Marchante and David Canada made the team win the two Spanish one-week races in Pais Viasco and Catalunya respectivily. Young sprinter Fran Ventoso and from suspension coming time trialer David Millar both won a stage in the vuelta.
The 2007 season saw the standup of new leaders. Riccardo Ricco won two tough stages in the Tirreno-Adriatico. Juan Jose Coba Acebo won the first stage and the overal of Pais Viasco. The team had a very strong starting 9 for the Giro d'Italia with Simoni, Ricco, Piepoli and Mayo. They all won a stage and Piepoli took home the KoM-jersey. But neither Simoni nor Ricco finished on the podium. Ricco finished of a very good season for the team with a second place in Lombardia.
The 2008 season was a very turbulent season. Ricco rode a very strong Giro winning two stages and finishing second behind Contador. He was also the best young rider. Due to illness by Gomez Marchante, Ricco started the tour de France. A race where the team hasn't had much succes. But that was about to change. Ricco won the first mountain stage on Superbesse and the second with a very strong attack on the Col d'Aspin. The next day. Piepoli and Cobo finished as one and two on the top of Hautacam. But during the next rest day, it was announced that Piepoli and Ricco were caught at the use of doping. Those the riders were fired immediately but the team had to leave the tour de france. Saunier Duval decided to stop immediately with sponsoring so Scott took over as main sponsor for the remainder of the season. Saunier Duval-Scott became Scott-American Beef.
The next season with a new main sponsor saw Fuji-Servetto riding in the Pro-Tour with only one good rider. Cobo stayed with the team and was the only rider to show something at the top level. He won a stage in the Vuelta.
The 2010 Season started under the name Footon-Servetto without Cobo who went to Caisse D'Epargne and was the last year of the team in the World-Tour. They were relegated to a Pro-Continental team before the 2011 season. And here, we take a new start with a new sponsor.

Rider Presentation
Team leaders:
Denis Menchov
He is our absulate leader. He will fight for the podium in the Giro, which he won in 2009 and for the podium in the Vuelta, where he won in 2005?? and 2007. We won't go to the Tour De France so he won't defend his podium there.
Carlos Sastre
Not so strong as 2 or 3 years ago, he will support Menchov and go for stage win's on famous mountains in Italy and Spain.
I'll show an overview of the other riders when i start my savegame.

If you keep focus on HC races, it shouldn't be hard to get to the Pro Tour. Good luck |
