Tour Meditteraneen Discussion
mb2612
i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy344/DailyManGame2011/2012%20Routes/tourmed.png

The Tour Meditteraneen is here and what an excellent hilly stage race this is, most of them require luck, timing of attacks and everyone else letting you go to win, here however we end on arguably the hardest finish in the CT that is still called a hill.

Averaging almost 10% Mount Faron will be where this race is won and lost, mostly lost by those who flattered to deceive on the easier sections of the race.

As such the line up here is as strong as any race in the CT, with the two Italians, Ginanni and Di Maggio leading the way. After them we have Kolobnev, Kessler, Vanendert and Bellis with very real shots of winning, as well as hove favourite Roy.

For the sprints Hushovd is in town, he will be competing against Corioni, Gavazzi and Trusov

No big ambitions in the overall here. Top10 would be a big success for me. Also in the sprints Corioni is my bet and nothing for my riders.

The biggest question is, who will win this HC mountain on stage 1? Wink

*Puts Money on Ginanni*

Will be interesting to watch. Potentially it could all come down to Stage 5, as a Sprinter who can climb half decently could still lead at that point. In other news, it's almost time for the first ever CDiv2 race, the Dubai Grand Prix. Excitement is building.

Entertaining profile with Mt. Faron, good luck everybody.
And finish it fast, Div2 opener is near as jph27 is saying Smile
I'll be back

First target race of the season. I have a pretty strong line-up here, so this will be very interesting. I hope Di Maggio can perform good, but with Ginanni here it will be tough to gain a stage win, or the GC. Stage 5 doesn't suit him very well either, but we will see. Wink And maybe Corioni can bring me the first win of the season?

I´d be surprised if Ginanni can´t take the GC. For me, the Top 10 is the aim, with some luck Kessler should even finish in the Top 5.

Some more fun facts again:

- Italy with the biggest amount of riders (13), followed by the Netherlands (10) and Germany (9).
- France with just 8 riders riding for Bpost, Focus and Puma
- Weakest rider: William Connoly (Cyclevox/62,80)
- Strongest rider: Francesco Ginanni (Vespa/77,40)
- Average average: 69,916
- Matthias Kessler (Trilux) with 455.000 the highest salary
- Average wage: 101310,99
- 17 loanies, 3 of them from Wikipedia and Carmeuse
- Youngest rider: Alex Kirsch (Focus/19)
- Oldest rider: Thor Hushovd (Saab/34)
- Average age: 25,275
- Youngest team: Puma - SAP by far (20,429)
- Oldest team: Saab Scania (28,000)
- 2 National Road Champions: Jiriakov (Rapha/Lie), Smukulis (Trilux/Lat)
- 2 National ITT Champions: Konovalovas (Cyclevox/Ltu), Hushovd(Saab/Nor), but no TT here

My winning bet is on Jeremy Roy due to his attacking spirit and national bonus followed by Ginanni.

Yes, already the first win for KesslerPfft

I think it will be a battle between Ginanni and Roy. Ginanni because he's the best puncheur and Roy because of the nationality bonus.

Also looking forward to see Di Maggio.

maybe I´m totally wrong, but both Hesjedal and Ruijgh can do a lot of great job for you here...I guess Mt. Faron could be too hard for pure puncheur like Di Maggio, Roy or maybe even Ginanni

I expect great and open battle until very end here, good luck to all participants Smile

I don`t know what is the mountain/hill ratio there. But it might be something like 0,5-0,75 I think. Then definitely I might have chances for a good placement there. But I think if there are attacks on the other hard stages, then I will already lose something. So top10 maybe, but then it´s maximum I think. But let`s see. Haven`t played much PCM11 yet, so still to learn the best predictions.

But I take more of course. Wink

The ratio on the last stage is 0.2

Ginnani is the favorite imo, but I'm sure we'll have again a great last stage, as everything will be decided in the slopes of the Mont Faron.

MrDemus
This will be a really interesting race to follow. Nice profile. Let's hope somebody can upset the odds, and beat Ginnani

roturn
Thanks mb2612. Then my first prediction was better, that Hesjedal will have it harder as the mountain stat isn`t that important.
Sprints will be thrilling with Corioni alone in the high quality area and then lots of good sprinters behind him.
Also interesting to follow Puma-SAP, which are participating with 7 talents.

kopfan
Will definitely be an interesting race, looking forward to following it

Hopefully Bellis can continue or hills form - and take up the role Wegmann had in Wellington: attacking in the hills, sprinting on the flat

This is going to be a really tough race to predict, guessing it will be a week of attrition before that final stage on Mont Faron.

Vespa and Trilux will be looking to control and I think they can just about managed it with Ginanni going two from two.

Actually, this race is a leftover of my pre-transfer approach of a puncheur-team.
Surprisingly, it's even a season goal Wink

Now, this is only an exp-gainer and a test for Avenir, where the lineup will be quite similar.
