Hello there fellow cyclist luvers, i have a few questions concerning the green bar. In grand tours i would like to know how i can save up my green bar the best possible way for later stages.
Does the game take efforts of previous stages into account and if so should i use the personal effort or hold postion button to preserve most of my energy?
At what effort do u put ur riders (holding position) in a slow moving peleton?
wa doede gij toch tommeke tommeke

Yes, the game takes previous efforts into account, so riders in the breakaway from the last day will have lost a little or a lot of green bar. The two main things are your riders REC and STA stats (Stamina and Recovery). The more stamina the rider has the more green bar you have to lose, and the recovery decides how much green bar your rider gets back for the next day. To save stamina in Grand Tours the best strategy is to do nothing besides stay with your riders competition, then once you get to the later mountain stages you can use the saved stamina to give a huge effort when it really counts. PCM 11 makes it hard to save energy by setting your energy low, but I think if the peloton is movin slow you may be able to keep your riders on 60. But be careful because if the effort is flashing red, then you may need to up the effort, or else your rider will get dropped. and if your rider is dropped then you will lose all or more than the energy you saved trying to catch back up. I'll try some stuff and report back

REC stat affect how much green bar your raider will recover after a stage of a stagerace.
END is not directly connected with green bar and it is active only after 200km, and it affect the speed of your rider(not the saving of greenbar)
many stats are not-directly connected with green bar (any stat that affect the speed)
an High MON value, in a montain stage for exemple allow you to stay in the group with less effort than other raiders so less ppm=less consumption of greenbar, we can say the same about END (after 200km)
a raider with more greenbar can reach a better speed (with same effort) than another with less greenbar
consumption of any bar is not linked with maintain position or free effort button but it depend only on heart pulsation ppm
greenbar start to drop if >145ppm

Hey Sobrano
Can you make a full list over the skills and how they really work?
I now that you have made some tests and most be some kind of an expert

Only issue with Google translate, is that it is really hard to understand at times (it doesn't work great, but still puts you in the ball park as to what the stats mean/do).
So it isn't the best, but it works somewhat. |

been trying to find some good info on this "green bar" function for a while now, after I noticed AI palyers had much green bar left at end of race whilst mine runs out on or before the final climb, even though I am primarily a climber, so from what your appear to be saying the green bar starts to slowly go down if your heartebeat (HBPM) goes above 140 presumably goes down faster the higher your HBPM are above this threshold?
I presume "taking position behind a rider" ie following another rider lowers this variable?
So what impact do hills and mountains have if say for arguments sake you went fairly slowly and your HBPM rate was the same as on the flat?, it should imho reduce at the same rate but does it?
I got frustrated because last 2 stages both my red bar and blue/yellow bar were almost max whilst the green bar had virtually all disappeared BEFORE the final climb, and as soon as the green bar is consumed both the yellow and red bars get used up extremely quickly making paramount you somehow conserve that green bar..
I would also like to know exactly how the water and energy pill work and effect the way you play, clearly they are both functions that help, but how exactly
Just noticed this is for 2011!!!, I was asking about the 2016 game lol
cheers |

Exactly even though I think the numbers changed a bit since PCM 15, it's when the heart rate color becomes yellow anyway.

Indeed.

If the heart rate is the same the impact on bars is the same really. Of course, with the same dot set at f.e. 70 and with the same stats for 2 riders you'll use a lot more energy up a hill than on the flat, and a rider with much better mountain stat than one other's heart rate will rise much more slowly.
I would also like to know exactly how the water and energy pill work and effect the way you play, clearly they are both functions that help, but how exactly.
If you do not get any water bottles your rider will suffer as soon as they will blink, and that will result in the green bar getting used up a lot more quickly. Bit of the same happens if you get more water bottles than you should as well though.
The energy pill helps your red bar, which is helpful if you want to sprint or attack in the last kilometers especially.
