I'm in my first season as Garmin cervelo and doing the giro, however Vandevelde doesn't seem to be able to compete for the GC hes 7th cause he lost almost a minute in the last TT, is it even posible to won a GT if you dont have contador, Schleck or Nibali |

Yes. I was 3rd with Vandevelde on hard behind Cunego and Ricco but ahead of Nibali, Basso etc and he was just 77.
Later I won the Vuelta with Luis Leon Sanchez although the Vuelta is much easier.
Just the TdF is almost impossible to win I think. There you really need one of the best 5 climbers if you play on at least hard. |

Depends on the level you're playing on, though I generally find that riders who win GT's in real life win GT's in game.
For me, I'd be more than happy with a podium with Vandevelde on hard in the Giro and would probably settle for Top 5. Key to getting that is to play for 5th and not for 1st.
I'm sure there are plenty of whizz kids out there who have won the Tour de France with Cancellara on Extreme. |

Never! Just go on the dot at about 80, to push the pace. My rider lasted 12km at 80 on the dot from full bars so that is a good strategy, or you could go at 88 on the dot and your rider will move at the equal speed of an attack.

Well generally if they can attack and get away, so can you. But if not you have to make your move before them.

Yes, get in front of them on the longer climbs. High dot rating at the bottom of a climb will often see a strong rider get away from the bunch. Then when the favourites attack you're already up the road.
Not realistic but the attack button on a climb is a bit suicidal. |

A way I've found to make it more realistic is to have your leader protected by a team-mate. Then have another team mate go at 99 on the dot to push the pace at the front. Then when he's dead, you've hopefully dropped a bunch of riders and you can actually attack (hit the attack button).
Sometimes it doesn't work unless I have my rider at 88 dot for a little bit though, but generally right after he makes a small gap you can hit the attack button and escape.

I got 2nd with Samuel Sanchez in the TDF, and won the Giro twice and Vuelta oncewith Anton, Anton wn the Vuelta over Contador, but now Sanchez has left and Anton is going too aswell, but beating Contador and Schleck are hard, so I signed Schleck , I tend to wait for the favs to attack and then counter if I can or if I have a very good team for the mountains I put them all on relay 99 and have one protecting my leader. In my Euskatel game I had Astarloza protecting Sanchez.

i'm currently 5th with Hesjedal at the Giro so i'd say its very possible at the Vuelta. |
