This is where you gotta love the pure fantasy of sending great riders to such an insane race.
The drop looks lethel... which of those climbers know how to descend? |

And that's the reason why Serpa isn't riding this race...I really don't think that the climb will be as important than the long long descend. Will be funny though to see if Ricco will be able to get a big enough gap to the other contenders for the win...I believe that he will need at least 1 min at the top of the climb to guys like Taaramäe.

Dont underestimate the climb itself though. The PCM profile cuts a lot of it off - theres a solid 20+km of climbing up steep slopes there, before the potentially lethal descent.
Of course, with 33km to the finish from the top - will the AI let any rider attack so early on the climb itself?

That will be quite crucial without an doubt. If Alarcon of Ricco attacks early on the climb then they would perhaps have enough time over the hill to defend a lead over better downhillers than themselves. It could be one hell of a race or a quite disappointing one, lets hope the AI will let the fireworks begin early on the big climb!

11 riders in a sprint group for the win is my bet :-)

It'll be an interesting race for sure, I had to enter just to see if Cataldo could do anything here. With a limited amount of races that suited my main riders, this one did well to fit into Cataldo's race schedule. It'll be interesting to see what it's like up there at the dizzy heights of off the stage profile. |

Looking forward to this. Actually just wanted to be here as well. If riders go 'for real' on the climb, then i have a good chance of winning. But i don't rly have my hopes up and it might actually come down to a sprint.

I tried to enter all the C1 mountain one-day races. Hopefully we sneak a top 10 with an early break or Evans picking a good time to go. |

Well, that was odd. Didn't expect Ricco to crack stats-wise compared to Alarcon.
Good race to read and nice report, though.

Exciting reading and racing, unfortunately we weren´t capable of doing anything but Wyss in the break. But no big suprise about that. |

Very proud of my boys
Great pace up the climb.Too bad Samwel can´t descend but he proved his strength when it really mattered.

Seems the climb indeed was insane enough to make a difference for the best climbers! Kami: It was a little surprising without an doubt but I think Alarcon had terrific daily form, the way he destroyed everyone at the huge climb (named?).

Well the road used is the Transfagarasan, which goes through the Fagaras mountain range. Which specific mountain it is where the road peaks, Im not sure.

What a fascinating race, kinda glad I didn't put my boys through that all the A-grade climbers (unsurprisingly) came out to play there!
Yet another giant stride by Ikea towards a high finish - but not through Taaramae which is interesting! |
