Welcome to the tour of Japan, this 7 stage race has it all, sprints, mountains, itt's, ttt's, hills. Tha last will probably be most key, however anyone without a strong team will struggle to take the race on such a difficult route.

Cobo is given as number one favourite, however the team time trial could leave him with to much to do in the other stages, Lloret and Chavanel will be strong in the team time trial, while Nazaret will be tough to beat up the mountain ITT.
Enjoy

Cool, Arashiro's home race and not too many other sprinters only really Loddo who is different class - I have some hopes of a stage win here.
Also, Petronas have a great all round team here with Lloret and I believe it must be him vs Cobo for the overall. My own TTT team is not too shabby in this company either and this should hopefully set up a reasonable GC position with my own cruddy Columbian climber.
Stages 4 and 5 will decide this one though - its a question of whether Cobo can make up the TTT deficit (i.e. win the stage) for me. |

What a monumental stage 1 fail for Red Bull.
Parra one of my best GC men needlessly loses a minute and then complete sprint train meltdown for Arashiro.
Beppu manages 4th though... also I sense the comeback of Petronas, they love their Asian races! C'mon Red Bull upset the Petronas Time Triallers |

What a monumental stage 2 success for Red Bull!
Our sixth stage race win of the year and I really did not expect us to beat Petronas there, let alone by enough to take yellow. Can we hold on to the jersey on stage 3 fingers crossed!
Lloret for me just about favourite for the GC win, though Cobo is a hills monster in a race like this! |

Good start to the race for me with a 3rd in the TTT. We'll see what happens. |

Not the start that could be wished from the first 2 stages...Well I suppose Hesjedal still have a small chance in the GC and Loddo can perhaps grab a stage win if lady luck smiles on the team.

It is probably for the best that we passed the jersey to Petronas before the decisive section.
My team are not that great over hills so expectations are low - Cobo and Chavenal appear the favourites for the stage. Hoping Petronas keep good control of it! |

Brilliant stage by Hesjedal, but it's way too early to dream about a overall win.

It is a shame that the two best Red Bull men for the Mount Fuji TT are some way back on GC.
If Parra or even Roman Kilun had been in Arashiro's position then I would have some optimism for a podium. Alas I am left to hope that Adam Hansen can maintain a reasonable top 10 place and perhaps a couple of my riders can make the top 20 (including Arashiro).
Big news from that stage is that Cobo put time into Nazeret and Lloret as well as taking the 12 second bonus for second place. Meanwhile Hesjadel, Chavenal and Gusev should now be fighting to be on the podium too.
The TT is really a pure mountain climbers one, there is no flat in it at all. Nazeret of Benfica should move up, though I think the stage win could possibly go to Cobo. There I put the curse on him |

Hopefully one of Chavanel, Konovalovas, or Sicard (if not more) can pull something off in the TT. |

What a thriller it will be on the next and final hill stage, since it's defiantly not over yet...I hope Ryder can perhaps beat Nazarat and take second, even though it wont be easy with guys like Cobo, Lloret etc. lurking just behind.

Seems like Arashiro scoring good points again, overperformer of the year?

Come on Yamaha breakaway, do something!
And i vote Arashiro as well, although it could just be the result of masterful team choices from smowz. |

That was without a doubt one of the best performances Red Bull have had all season.
Absolutely outstanding from Zwizanski, Arashiro and Hansen three riders who (perhaps home nation Arashiro excepted) had no business (in terms of their ability) being in the final shake-up like that.

This was what I feared if your rider don't attack too early then you will get punished (Hesjedal)...
Six is still good though.

A good race to read and i think a certain manager will be very happy with this result. î
