You think that the UCI and the organizers of the Tour, Giro and Vuelta should also commit to organize races for female calendar.
For example, in the Spanish calendar is 4 races Pro Tour: Clasica San Sebastian, Vuelta al PaÃs-Vasco, Volta a Catalunya and La Vuelta ... and I think that at least these tests should have their "equivalent femnino, a Clasica San Sebastian where traveling on the last 130 km of the men '(as happened in the Primavera Rosa, who was a Milan-San Remo female), a Turn the Basque Country, 4 stages (although it is done: the Emmakumen Bira), a Volta a Catalunya Women's with 5 stages, and a Vuelta a España with 10 stages (or 14 stages)
I know that this is only fantasy, but I think it is a commitment that we should ask both the UCI and the different organizers
Said is not heard. Heard is not understood. Understood is not agreed to. Agreed to is not carried out. Carried out is not adhered to.

Of course, those races should exist, and not in the very poor and disorganised way they do (mostly) now.
But they won't until they are profitable. |

There are several very well organised women's races, but the media coverage has to improve before profitability and equality arrives.
(FYI. The Tour of Flanders for Women which I saw this year was very well organised)

It's not me who say that those races lack a lot of organization in comparison with men's, but the cyclists. Of course, there are some very well organized and awesome races, but there's still a lot of job to do at all levels. And I included media coverage in 'organization', but I admit it's not very correct to do so.
Still, it's not profitable to broadcast women sports, except for a few countries. The problem isn't in cycling, or in sport, it goes beyond that. |

The majority of people who watch sport, I suspect, is with males. Males, as much as we fantasize about watching fit women do sport, aren't really willing to watch, and bet, on women's sports. To be perfectly blunt, it's slower (in a cycling context), and any accidents really make me want to cry.
There's a whole host of reasons why male governed sports will never see an equality with regard women to women in the same sport.
Agree, or not, but the only way you will change things is to get in the governing bodies of the sport at the highest level to get things moving. Even then, I suspect you will find little willingness to change.
Plus, to put my own view across, I couldn't really give a hoot about watching womens sports outside of a major competition. And no, I don't count the females Tour de France as a major competition. I suspect my own views are reflected across a majority of males.
It's similar in a way to me watching golf. It's not that I don't like golfers (or women), I just prefer to watch something else in my free time. Male cycling vs. Female cycling - male cycling wins hands down.
So, as kumazan said, it just isn't ever going to be profitable over males sports to sponsor a womens cycling team. And as we see it's so difficult to get sponsors for cycling teams anyway, well, there ain't no chance of equality (which is bollocks anyway as equality just doesn't exist - nor should it.)

Being in the states, it's so hard to even find cycling on TV. I've only ever seen one female cycling race on TV. True, at first I watched for 'entertainment' reasons, but I then began to notice I was being enthused as the pace was increased in preperation for the final sprint. I found the same competitive enjoyment out of female cycling then I have male cycling. If they would just show the sport more, then I think female cycling would get an increase in attendance. |
