Hi there, hey there, ho there, I'm Bob Pinciotti and this will be my first year as a mechanic for HTC - Columbia. For my first season with one of the best teams in the World, I've received quite a lot of responsibilities as I'll follow Mark Cavendish during the 2010 season and I'll try to cover Cav's season here, on PCM.daily.
In 2006, the rider born in Isle of Man, joined T-Mobile as a very promising youngster, but only as a trainee. One year later, he received a full year contract and brought the team some important wins in Catalunya, Tour of Britain, Post Danmark Rundt and Eneco Tour.
He had a rather disappointing first Tour de France, after riding with a huge pressure on his shoulders in the first stages of the race, with the '07 Tour starting in London.
2008 was Cav's breakthrough year. With T-Mobile stepping out of cycling, the Brit had some minor victories, doubled by 2 stage wins in the Giro and 4 stage wins, 2 months later in the Tour de France, after a great sprint train set up by his Columbia team - mates.
Cavendish didn't finish the 2008 Tour and missed the chance to fight for the green jersey, which became a major goal in 2009. He started the season perfectly, winning a few stages in Qatar, California and Tirreno - Adriatico, plus a very surprising win in Milano - SanRemo. Cav continued with 3 stage wins in the Giro and a couple of days in the pink jersey. He added to that list 2 more stage wins in Tour de Suisse, right before the Tour de France.
Beating the record of 4 stage wins from 08 seemed like a real challenge for the Brit, but with a perfect train set up from Columbia, he took 6 wins, including a very impressive one on Champs Elysees. Still that wasn't enough for Cavendish to take the green jersey, finishing just 10 points behind Thor Hushovd, even though the God of Thunder got only one stage win.
After missing the green jersey by only just the last season, the sprinters jersey in The Tour became Cavendish' main goal for the 2010 season, but he will have to fight for points in every single stage, after what happened in 09 with Hushovd.
Now, please take a seat and follow Cav's 2010 season as the Brit tries to accomplish his dream of wearing the green jersey on the podium on Champs Elysees.

I like this a lot. An Alex story about Columbia, specifically Mark Cavendish. This will win.
Oh yeah, good luck! |

The team
Even though cycling is an individual sport, a strong team is very important if you want to win, especially in those final kilometers of the flat stages. Five HTC riders could prove to be decisive for Cav's goals in the new season and there will also be some information about their season, as well as Cavendish' main rival, who's also riding for HTC, Andre Greipel.
Bernhard Eisel
Matt Goss
Andre Greipel
Tony Martin
Mark Renshaw
Michael Rogers
Tony Martin and Michael Rogers will focus to get some great results for themselves, but in the Tour everyone will work for Mark. Eisel will ride almost every race alongside Cavendish, as the first lead - out man, while Goss or Renshaw will be the last rider left in front of Cav, before the Brit will launch his sprint.
Last year, Columbia dominated the sprints, always creating a perfect train for either Cavendish or Greipel and this year should be no different. But with the World's 2 best sprinters in the same team is quite hard to keep everyone happy and this could be Greipel's last year with the team if he won't bring some top quality results to compete with Cavendish' results.
I'll keep an eye on all those riders, especially on Renshaw, who's Cavendish' best friend in the team and Greipel, who will definitely try to put some pressure on Cavendish with some victories in the races that he will be riding.

Racing schedule
In 2010, Mark will also be riding 2 Grand Tours, but this one instead of the Giro, we will see the rider from Isle of Man riding for the first time in Vuelta a Espana, the last Grand Tour of the year. The points jerseys in the Tour and the Vuelta will be his main goals of the season, but there's also a chance to retain the title won last year in La Primavera.

we'll see. I know you like to play on extreme, but I like hard more and the sprinting system in PCM10 is a challenge itself

This is the biggest news all day, since the moment I heard that McDonalds was bringing back the McRib.
Spoiler But you should have done it about a cooler rider!

this might sound a stupid question but how are you going to play the game? do you only play the stages with cav and show what you have done, or are you going to do all stage and only show cav's progression?
I thought of doing something similar before my Sky story, but I was unsure how to do it

I'll play all the races that HTC will be riding but post only the ones where Cav is competing. Also, there are going to be some 'press releases' about other important races or one of the 6 riders', that are mentioned in the 3rd post, performances.

It's not really going to be like that. I'll try to make everything Cav related
