I have decided to start again with my Team Sky story. I started one about a week ago, and after I thought I had lost it after it became corrupt, I deleted parts of the original thread. But it is back...
But this time, I am adding more challenge to the story. Using the Team Sky website, I have been able to plan an identical season to in real life using the PCM Planner, and I am going to be taking part in the same races with the same riders riding those races, and I am going to see if I can equal or better Team Sky's real life results.
In terms of how I show my story, I will be doing brief outlines of the races and stages with the stage results, and I will be going into more detail when it comes to the more major races and races that are my sponsor objectives.

are you going to only race those that the riders participated in... or which the riders were going to race before injury (eg.. EBH was going to ride some cobbled race, but then he got an injury to his ankle and didn't ride) |

6th January 2010 - Australian National TT Championships
Evans takes the Title
Cadel Evans added the Australian TT Jersey to palmares with a victory in Buninyong. His time of 54'30" was good enough on the day, coming in 12" ahead of Michael Rogers and 1'00" ahead of Heinrich Haussler in third.
Final Standings
1 | Cadel Evans | BMC Racing Team | 54'30 | 2 | Michael Rogers | Team HTC - Columbia | + 12 | 3 | Heinrich Haussler | Cervélo Test Team | + 1'00 | 4 | Richie Porte | Team Saxo Bank | + 1'12 | 5 | Ben Day | Fly V Australia | s.t. | ... | 24 | Matthew Hayman | Sky Professional Cycling Team | + 2'48 | 27 | Simon Gerrans | Sky Professional Cycling Team | s.t. | 30 | Christopher Sutton | Sky Professional Cycling Team | + 2'54 |
Team Reaction to the Race:
Overall a pleasing result to the TT event for Team Sky. With no real Australian Time Trialists in the squad, a Top 30 finish with all the riders is a really good result, and now we will look for a even better result in the Road Race event in 4 days.

10th January 2010 - Australian National RR Championships
Gerrans wins the Road Race title and takes Team Sky's first win
Simon Gerrans won the Australian Road Race Championship, with a time of 5h21'02", ahead of Cadel Evans in Buninyong. The Team Sky rider paced away from the peleton with 4 laps remaining of the 10km circuit before outsprinting the World Champion Evans at the finish. A break of 7 riders was formed earlier in the race, gaining a gap of around 4'00" before Gerrans and Team Sky upped the pace. The break was slowly caught by Gerrans, and soon couldn't follow the pace the Aussie was setting. With 10km to go, the main favourites from the peleton attacked, with only Evans being able to bridge to gap to Gerrans. But Gerrans had enough to keep Evans at bay, taking the victory in a two-man sprint for the line.
Final Standings
1 | Simon Gerrans | Sky Professional Cycling Team | 5h21'02 | 2 | Cadel Evans | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 3 | Heinrich Haussler | Cervélo Test Team | + 56 | 4 | Michael Rogers | Team HTC - Columbia | s.t. | 5 | Baden Cooke | Team Saxo Bank | + 1'42 | ... | 30 | Christopher Sutton | Sky Professional Cycling Team | s.t. | 31 | Matthew Hayman | Sky Professional Cycling Team | s.t. |
Team Reaction to the Race:
A fantastic day for Team Sky. We sadly missed getting in the early break with Hayman, but the team worked hard to bring the break back and to set up Gerrans for the win. It will be great to see Gerrans in the National Jersey at the Vuelta a Andalucia in Spain for the first time, and the team hopes to carry on this good performance with a successful Tour Down Under.

12th January 2010 - Pre-season training camp (Sydney, Australia)
Following the National Championships in Australia, the whole team got together for 5 days and a spot of pre-season training in Sydney, Australia. Nothing too vigorous was planned for the training camp, just a few gentle rides to build the riders fitness and endurance.

@jona: thanks alot. i hope i can carry on the form into the TdU
@pellizotti: I am going to be using screenshots, but only in major races (like ProTour and the Big Classics). I find it will be much quicker this way, and I will report all the races in a newspaper/website style report with a headline like I have so far. Or would you prefer screenshots in all the races?

I find that you should always write the story the way you want it to be written or else you lose motivation quickly.

very true. I think I would get too bogged with trying to do screenshots all the time, so I'm liking the way that I am doing it

19th January 2010 - Santos Tour Down Under Stage 1 (Clare-Tanunda)
Stage 1 takes the riders from Clare to Tanunda on a fairly flat stage, which looks set to finish in a bunch sprint. But with a Mountain Classification 27km from the finish, which rider will have enough in their legs to take the stage victory.
Riders to watch: G. Steegmans, T. Farrar, T. Boonen, A. Greipel
My tip for the stage: F. Pozzato. The Italian shouldn't have too many problems with the climb to the Mountain Sprint, and should have enough in his legs to take the win.

19th January 2010 - Santos Tour Down Under Stage 1 (Clare-Tanunda)
Steegmans fastest in the sprint
Gert Steegmans won the first stage of the Santos Tour Down Under with an excellent sprint victory, ahead of Garmin's Tyler Farrar and Sky's Greg Henderson. Steegmans timed his sprint to perfection, coming around Farrar and Henderson in the final 200 metres to win.
An attack earlier in the race by 14 riders was quickly pulled back, leading to further attacks. Eventually a break of 10 riders go away from the peleton, gaining a maximum of 5'00" over the peleton before it was reeled in by Team Saxo-Bank.
With 20km to go, the break was caught, and the stage was set to end in a bunch sprint. All the teams set up their trains, but Team Sky looked the strongest as Henderson was lead out by his team-mate Chris Sutton. But with Farrar and Steegmans in his wheel, Henderson would have to be strong to take the victory, and sadly ran out of legs just as the final 300 metres approached, leaving the victory wide open to Steegmans to take.
Steegmans celebrates his victory
