So after spending the last few weeks reading stories from the past 2 or 3 pcm versions, ive decided to have a go myself and write about my very own career.
Ive decided to create and compete as my very own custom team. And my new team is - Team Livestrong (yes im aware of trek-livestrong u23, but this is a different type of team and based purely on livestrong.)
This Years Team Shirt looks like:
With a pretty small budget Iain Morris the Team Livestrong Manager understood the importance of finding young and promising prospects for the future! With this in mind the sqaud selection of the new team took a young look.
The final Sqaud is shown below, Though Iain Morris is still looking for new riders to bring in to fill out the sqaud.
Iain Morris stated in his first press conference as manager ' To bring in such quality riders like Schleck and Wiggins will be a brilliant oppurtunity for the team to compete at many races aswel be a huge impact on the development of our many young riders. He finished the conference with a rallying statement 'Bring on the First Race'!
Hope you enjoy! Next update will be our goals and sponsors.
Even with a small sqaud the guys at the top have not been very lenient with us looking at the Seasons Goals. Iain Morris admitted with his lack of experience at GT and Big races, it will very difficult to complete the seasons goals. With The TdF being probably the most difficult.
the goals set are:
Our racing season will start at the Santos Tour Down Under. The race selecetion to and hopefully the first stage will be up soon.
Ps. can anyone gimme some tips for taking screenies of the race? As How to do it with the names removed and as i can only seem to get rid of the circle highlight.
The first stage in Down Under should be a stage for the sprinters but the final hills are quite close to the finish line so the brave could stretch the main peleton to prevent a mass sprint. With a strong startlist, our main objectives were to get a stage win or two, and if a lucky breakway was to win the tour then hopefully we could have a rider in it contending.
The stralist for the santos down under looks like:
As the race started, there were no specific team who took control of the pace so it was left to the front of he peleton to dictate and ride as they liked.
The only real breakaway of the day was by one rider, AG2R's Mandri. His lead maxed out at about a minute and a half but there was no chance for him on his own and eventually got caught by the peleton.
So it was to the mass sprint, Team livestrong knew this could be a good chance for them to get there stage win they wanted. But unfortunately they could see there sprinter Hilton Clarke was struggling due to the mountains near the end of the stage. But lucky enough Peter Sagan put his hand up and offered to go for the sprint as he had some fuel left in the tank.
Sagan knew his team mates would not be able to create a effective lead out train for me but saw the HTC team start up theres so he hooked hiself to Greipels wheel.
Sagan was getting the lead out he needed, and looking around it was easy to see the main sprinters were also lacking the real energy to make this a top class sprint. So with 1km left to the line Sagan saw his chance and started his sprint. It was unbeleivable Sagan had started to take the lead and leave the other behind him, this wasnt even a top sprinter.
It was a gutsy effort and he rode the last km like a top sprinter to take his first stage victory and indeed a well earned stage victory for Team Livestrong.
Iain Morris said while sagan was on he podium enjoying his champagne ' It was class display by a real talented rider. He took it upon hiself to show the world what the team and hiself could do. And im sure there will be plenty more to come from the 19 year old.'
The next stage is another stage thats classed as a flat one but has a rather large climb that could hinder the chances of the sprinters. Hopefully Sagan Will be able to hold his overal Lead or atleast his Points Jersey!
