Thank you guys, I'll try. Later today, the reports of the last 2 stages will be posted (first I'll have to play them, but because I'm free from work this afternoon, I'll play them)
6th stage and probably the last change to regain the blue jersey. The first half of the route between Teramo and Frontone is pretty hilly, whereas the last part is more flat, again.... This makes it hard for us to ride Ballan out of the leader's jersey.
After a small group tried to form a break in the first ascend of the day (David Zabriskie won the KOTM-sprint), our domestiques brought everything together with one purpose: getting bonus seconds at the first Intermediate sprint. And with succes, because Sagan, Kelderman & Dekker took the first 3 places.
After it, the attacks come. A first group of 5 riders cross the summit of the 2nd climb of the day: Romain Feillu (Vanacansoleil), José Rujano (Androni), Murilo Fischer (Garmin), Paolo Tiralongo (Astana) and Aleksejs Saramotins (Sony Ericsson). A group of 6 follows at 1'20: Massimo Giunti & Marco Frapporti (Colnago), Frederik Willems (Lotto), Matteo Rabottini (Farnese) and Daniele Bennati & Gorka Izagirre (Euskaltel). We don't want to make the pace. BMC should do it, as they have the GC-leader in the team. But they set a pretty low pace, so the gap is already 6'30.
That gap increases very quickly, especially when the 2 groups merge. At the 3rd summit (Feillu-Frapporti-Fischer), the peloton is 8'45 behind and at the 4th and last summit (Feillu-Izagirre-Fischer) even 13'09! That means that Tiralongo and Rujano have become virtual GC-leaders, as they are 7'08 behind in the GC!
This is a sign for us to take over the chase. In the next 60 kilometres towards the 2nd Intermediate sprint, we decrease the gap with 4 minutes. So with 48 kilometres to go, the leading group has a gap of 9'16, which means that they will fight for the win today.
As our domestiques are getting pretty tired, BMC finally takes over the chase again. After a long climb, the BOTD starts the long descend towards the finish in Frontone. With 26 kilometres to go, they still lead with 7'08.
Astana's Paolo Tiralongo feels that he won't take the GC-lead this way, so he attacks in the descend. WIth only 14 kilometres remaining, he leads his former breakaway buddies with 31 seconds, and the peloton with 7'05. It's going to be close for the GC!
Less than 5km to go and Tiralongo is still in the lead. The 10 chasers have become 4: Feillu, Fischer and the 2 Euskaltel-riders Bennati and Izagirre. They follow at '43. The peloton is closing in a bit, 6'53 behind.
But Tiralongo is out of reach for the 4 chasers. It's the 2nd win of the season for the Italian, besides a stage win in the Tour de Langkawi. Bennati sprints to the 2nd place at '27, followed by Fischer.
And the peloton? Peter Sagan wins the sprint of it at 6'23.

Word from the DS
I think we'll have to celebrate Ballan..........
Edited by dienblad on 09-12-2011 14:35
The last stage of this Tirreno - Adriatico. The profile is pretty flat, so it will turn out into a mass sprint.
The weather is pretty bad near the Adriatic coast, with rain and a strong wind (about 40 km/h). But 11 riders feel pretty masochistic today, as they go on an adventure, instead of staying in the peloton. They know they won't stand a change, but still they've attacked. Some riders in it are David Zabriskie (Garmin), Rein Taaramäe (Sony Ericsson), Mirko Selvaggi (Vacansoleil), Dennis van Winden (Rabobank) and Grégory Rast (Nissan). They get caught with less than 15 kilometres remaining.
The sprint has started and with one km to go, Mark Cavendish and Tyler Farrar have a small gap to the others, thanks to great work by Cav's final leadout Bernhard Eisel.
Farrar hasn't got the legs to jump over Cavendish to take his 3rd win this Tirreno, so it's the Manx Missile who wins the final stage. Peter Sagan takes the 11th place.
Alessandro Ballan finishes in 26th place and is the surprising winner of the Tirreno Adriatico 2012.

The overall winner
Word from the DS
Before this Tirreno we would be very happy with one stage win, the KOTM-jersey and the 2nd and 3rd position in the GC. But because Ballan took the GC-win because he was in a breakaway, we have a little bad feeling about it. This route wasn't decisive, as all but one stages ended in a bunch sprint. Let's hope for a tougher rout next year.

+1 Hardly you might be disliked by the result of this career. The obtained achievements must overcome the bad flavor of mouth that leaves the Ballan victory.
A lot of luck for the next career, I want to see it
Question for someone that is pretty good with the graphics:
Can someone make a new version of my shirt, with the following changes:
- without the Muse-logo in the groin-region
- no Craft-logo on the bum, but also one small one on the left chest.
- no Monster logo (the green stripes) on the belly, but instead a Subway logo in the centre of the belly.
- a small Subway logo on the bum.
- The other MOnster-logos are okay, just as the colors.
- ANd as a 2nd request a National champion shirt of Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Slovakia, please!

The 67th edition of the Nokere Koerse, a race we have good memories from. Why? Last year Jens Keukeleire won the race in a sprint.
What about the route. It's a race with a few short climbs in it, also a few short cobbled sections. The last kilometre is first downhill, but the last 200 metres are 4-6% uphill.
Startlist
Spoiler
Monster Energy - Ford
1. N.Terpstra
2. T.Dupont
3. J.Keukeleire
4. M.Maaskant
5. S.Rosseler
6. S.Vanmarcke
7. C.Vermeltfoort
8. L.Westra
The favourites ***Jens Keukeleire, Tom Veelers (M&M's), Jetse Bol (Rabo CT) ** Kristof Goddaert (Lotto), Jeremy Hunt (Sky), Nico Eeckhout (An Post) *Niki Terpstra, Koen Barbé (Landbouwkrediet), Kenny van Hummel (M&M's)
Our goal
That's easy, defend our win from last year!
Our tactic to get another win in the Nokere Koerse is to be in a breakaway, so we don't have to work in the chase. Our man in the BOTD is Coen Vermeltfoort. Together with Rasmus Quaade (Sony Ericsson), Joaquim Durant (Jong Vlaanderen), Julien El Fares (Cofidis), Alexandre Geniez (M&M's) and Jens Lootens (Rabobank CT) he gets a maximum lead of 8 minutes.
Vermeltfoort had to ride a little slower than he wanted to, not to drop his fellow breakaways on the cobbled sections. But with 70 kilometres remaining, he can't wait any longer, as the gap to the peloton is decreasing. He easily rides away from the others, and with 60 kilometres to go, he leads the former members of the BOTD with 2 minutes and the peloton with 5'08.
While Vermeltfoort is giving it all on his own in the Belgian countryside, it has started to rain (again). The domestiques from M&M's are doing the most of the work in the chase. WIth 1 lap remaining, that's 15 kilometres, he gap has decreased to 1'11.
In the last lap, poor Vermeltfoort is totally wasted. Because of the cold rain, his legs are feeling empty and he knows he won't make it. That's the sign for his teammate Niki Terpstra to attack out of the peloton. There are 8 kilometres remaining when he joins Vermeltfoort, and when the first counterattacks come from the peloton.
6 riders are riding 30 seconds in front of the peloton when they enter the last 5 kilometres. Besides Terpstra, their names are Jetse Bol (Rabo CT, someone we really want to sign in the feature with COB 77 and SP 74 at the age of 22), Tom Veelers (M&M's), Kevin Hulsmans (Cofidis) and the Landbouwkrediet duo Bert De Waele and Koen Barbé. Because Terpstra can never win this in a sprint in this group, we try to close the gap, and are succeeding in it.
Lieuwe Westra is serving as the last leadout for Jens Keukeleire. But the winner from last year lost the wheel of the Dutch champion, so he is without chance for the win. Into the last kilometre, entering the last cobbled section, Tom Veelers is in the lead, followed by Westra.
But it looks like Veelers has spend to much energy in the counterattack against Niki Terpstra. As soon as the road is ascending, Westra is closing him in and 100 metres before the finish, the 2 are side by side. Who is gonna win this?
It's Lieuwe Westra!!What a great ride by the Dutch champion, who brings the team the second consecutive win in the Nokere Koerse. Veelers manages to stay in the 2nd place, with Olivier Pardini (Wallonie) in 3rd.

The winner
Word from the DS
Oh my, what a race.... First Vermeltfoort with excellent work, then Terpstra. Big regards go to Sep Vanmarcke who brought the peloton back to the 6 leaders in the last 5 kilometres, and Westra brught it home. This one is for the entire team!!
For many people, today is the true opening of the cycling season 2012. On the menu for today is the 103rd edition of Milano - San Remo, also known as La Primavera. The longest World Tour classic (300 kilometres) is won 7 times by Eddy Merckx, and the Cannibal holds the record of most wins. The race often ends in a mass sprint, but sometimes, a puncheur is strong enough to surprise the peloton. That happened last year, when Filippo Pozzato won La Primavera for the 2nd time in his career.
The 300km long route has a long, very long flat first half, before the reach the Liguric coastline after the climb of the Passo del Turchino. Then the riders face Le Mangie (5.gkm at 5.3%), the Tre Capi, the Cipressa (4.6km at 4.3%) and the Poggio (2.9km at 5.1%). After it's famous and dangerous descend, the riders reach the Via Roma to sprint for the win.
The favourites *** Filippo Pozzato (Katusha), Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre), Mark Cavendish (Sky) ** Philippe Gilbert (Lotto), Alessandro Ballan (BMC), Peter Sagan * Fabian Cancellara (Nissan), Tyler Farrar (Garmin), Matthew Goss (Qantas)
Our goals
Last year, we got a 7th place with Peter Sagan. So this year we want to improve that position. Our sponsor wants a Top 3, but that will be very difficult.
Let's start!
After a hectic first 70 kilometres, finally a BOTD is formed: Niki Sorensen (Saxo), Koldo Fernández (Euskaltel), Maarten Wynants (Rabobank), Dominique Cornu (Lotto), Claudio Corioni (Farnese), José Rujano (Androni), Dmitiy Fofonov (Astana) and Gorik Gardeyn (Vacansoleil). They have entered the tunnel at the summit of the Passo del Turchino with a gap of 7 minutes, and 150 kilometres remaining.
Most of the work in the peloton is done by Team Sky, for their leading sprinter Mark Cavendish. The BOTD has climb Le Manie and face 92 more kilometres. The peloton is still 7 minutes behind them.
The ascend of Le Manie has caused a split in the peloton. The first peloton exists of 87 cyclists, what means that 99 riders are already a few minutes behind a chanceless for the win. Among them are Matti Breschel & Lars Boom (Rabobank), Roman Kreuziger (Astana), Danilo Napolitano (Acqua et Sapone), Alberto Contador (Saxobank) and Paolo Tiralongo (Astana)!
The first attack out of the first peloton comes 60 kilometres before the finish. Stuart O'Grady (Qantas) and Heinrich Haussler (Garmin) try to bridge the 2'57-gap to the 8 leaders, but they don't get a lot of space by the peloton.
Already on the Capi, and O'Grady and Haussler have been caught. This is the sign for Sylvain Chavanel (Garmin) to attack. He's only 1'17 behind the 8 leaders, with 35 kilometres remaining. This is the sign for us to do some work, and Romain Zingle takes control of the pace of the peloton.
And with succes! When the climb of the Cipressa starts, 26 kilometres before the finish, the peloton catches the 9 (Chavanel has joined them) breakaways.
No attacks on the Cipressa, thanks to the high pace of Zingle, 20 kilometres to go, and 77 riders will fight for the win.
But when Zingle is fading, 4 riders use this opportunity to attack: Johan Vansummeren (Garmin), was the initiator, followed by Alessandro Ballan (BMC) and the Nissan - Radioshack duo of Fabian Cancellara and Jens Voigt. At the foot of the Poggio, 9 km to go, the peloton is '38 behind.
But with Voigt already wasted, and the 3 others not coöperating, the peloton catches them even before the summit of the Poggio. Peter Sagan leads the peloton, still 61 riders in it.
Alessandro Ballan, the winner of the Tirreno - Adriatico, takes all the risk in the descend of the Poggio and creates a 10-second gap with only 4 kilometres remaining. Sagan has chosen the wheel of Philippe Gilbert and waits for the sprint.
Ballan has entered the Via Roma and has even extended his lead. He's riding 16 seconds in front of the peloton, with 2 km remaining. Sagan is getting in some trouble as he gets blocked behind Gilbert and Petacchi. Theo Bos looks to be in a better position behind world champ Cavendish, but has no more energy left.
But none of the sprinters or puncheurs can prevent Alessandro Ballan from taking the win in La Primavera. What a week it's been for Bontempino, after winning the Tirreno!
A few metres behind him, Philippe Gilbert sprints to the 2nd place beating Alessandro Petacchi. Peter Sagan finishes in a very disappointing 14th place.

Word from the DS
We knew it would be difficult to improve our result from last year when our leaders / protected riders (Sagan, Bos, Dekker, Kelderman) were in trouble after the Cipressa. Only Sagan was good on the Poggio, but was bad positioned before the sprint. With better positioning, a top 5 could have been possible. But that's if.....
