Nice that Lampre hold on to the leaders jersey for another day Grin

Stage win, Yes! Banana

After missing out on both part3 goals in the GTs we have bounced right back with the Eneco tour and now at the Tour of Britain. Pretty ironic that we have one of the most dominating teams here, but our win comes from the break.

Goodness knows what has/will happen to the USAPCC, looks to be lost in a time warp at the minute, but I think we are nailed for a top10 there.

Lack of flat-rate internet. Good news is that all the stages have been run and should get on the site this week.

The 2013 Belgium Cycling Classic is a flat terrain race designed for the sprinters to snatch victory in the final hundred metres. This years route starts in Etterbeek and finishes in Laeken. We'll see the teams of the favourites on the front of the peloton controlling the breakaway as well as setting up the best possible scenario for their sprinters. There will be some ups and downs towards the end of the stage and with the possibility of winds will the teams are full gased, all riders will need to be in full focus to avoid splits before having a chance of winning

Favourites

Andre Griepel

The Lotto man is a world class sprinter, who majority of people would only put himself Cavendish and Kittel in that category. The Gorilla knows how to win one day races in continental Europe with Debusschere as last lead out, he is our favourite to win this years edition

Hanzen vs Brouwer

The well known battle between two of EPIC's finest talented sprinters Hanzen (Sky) and Brouwer (Belkin) is obviously going to draw more attention to the race with the two being able to fight it off again, will either be able to topple the big German? The 23 year old hilly sprinters from Britain and Netherlands respectively both have good support, Hanzen has the experience of Eisel to call on why Brouwer has the brute speed of Bos in front of him. Both are enjoying great seasons and we are excited for the finishing out come between them and the rest of the field.

Report to come.

I did not expect to be overtaken in the GC by Hanzen Shock

And why the hell did I think Brussels was hilly?! I goddamn hate those profiles not showing how flat a race is. Now I signed up Kakhi and De Vries for that race and I do have a Top5 goal here which is pretty impossible Angry

Hanzen vs Brouwer

Always comforting to see Adrien given the correct billing in the rivalry, ahead of Brouwer Cool

Brussels Cycling Classic

i57.tinypic.com/166n4ih.jpg

From the off the break forms, started by Mertens (TSV) and is quickly joined by Poux (SOJ), Wauters (VCD), Delfosse (CRE), Chaoufi (EUS).

There is a early crash, it's Wellens of Lotto but he is up quickly and rejoins the peloton with ease.

It's Sky and Lotto that do the controlling of the breakaway and peloton, no real contribution from Belkin at all.

i62.tinypic.com/2r6fdc4.jpg

It was at 145km that the break gets it largest lead of around 7'23"

As you can imagine, a profile like this doesn't create fireworks mid race, we rush ahead to 50km to go, the break has a 2 and half minute advantage, won't be a day of successful for them.

i59.tinypic.com/30jphdc.jpg

Vandewalle attacks, OPQS don't have a sprinter of note here and know they need something special to take a victory here today in Brussels.

i61.tinypic.com/5y8cvm.jpg

Eventually it comes from nothing but OPQS aren't finished, this time its Vermote. He holds off the peleton at the moment with the break in sight.

i60.tinypic.com/rjqgew.jpg

22km to go and Vermote jooins the break but they only have a 49' second, on the last bit of up hill Zandio leads the pack for Sky, they try to put the pressure on Lotto and Andre Griepel.

i62.tinypic.com/5e7i1c.jpg

And it works, 31 riders are dropped under the 20km banner including 5 Lotto riders, all the work is now on his last 2 teammates and himself, an opportunity is here for the outsiders

Unfortunately for Hanzen and Sky, Eisel quickly drops into that group, he has done to much work today.

10km to go with the break caught, Vanmarcke (BEL) and Vandenbergh (OPQ) but came to absolute nothing.

i62.tinypic.com/4vr88k.jpg

5km to go and it starts to shape up for the sprint but no teams set up trains. Lotto are down to their last team mate and everyone else wants Griepel as their lead out man. Griepel, Hanzen and Brouwer line up in that order.

In the slowest last 5km of a sprint stage you will ever see, all riders are lining up single file waiting for Griepel to make a move.

i57.tinypic.com/hst9jq.jpg

But it's Vandenbergh who is tired of waiting and lights it up with only 1.5km to go this flyer has a chance.

i61.tinypic.com/2u8ie6v.jpg

Griepel finally goes causing a massive chain reaction, Hanzen quickly unleashes from his wheel and will try to come around early. Brouwer doesn't quite get his jump right and slightly loses the wheel of his rival.

i62.tinypic.com/ftg58p.jpg

Hanzen goes his nose in front, he seems to have the most energy in these final few metres but Griepel is still there and the win will come from either of them. Brouwer looks to be defending 3rd at worst and best.

i60.tinypic.com/23abf6.jpg

And Hanzen of Sky takes the win, in the end he wins by a bike length and is able to celebrate on the line. Brouwer comes in third after Griepel.

This is the fourth edition of the GP De Quebec. It is 201km long. The race is a real puncheurs race which takes to a 13km circuit. which 3 tough climbs each lap. The favourites include Portuguese rider Rui Costa who will be looking to improve on 3rd place last year, Vincezo Nibali is representing Italy and the Shark could use his attacking punch to escape the bunch. Thabo Jango Sithembile, won't be let done by a strong squad and Peter Sagan will hope to reach the finish in a bunch, to unleash his sprint. Philippe Gilbert is hot off his Wallonie win and the world champion will be looking to add this Canadian race to his palmares. Ryder Hesjedahl is the home favourite, who could bring it home for his fans and Christian Schroder is Europcar's favourite, who will gain strong support from Thomas Voeckler, those two will be a force too be reckoned with. Simon Gerrans has a fast finish and an attackive punch, so he could win a small bunch sprint. Van Garderen will support Gilbert but the oppourtunity may present itself and the same can be said for Sergio Henao and Richie Porte but they may get away. A break doesn't look too likely today, as the course will really tire any early attackers, but of course it isn't out of the question. This is really anyone's race.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0118.jpg

The start of the 5th edition of the GP de Quebec, Sagan, Costa and Porte have already placed themselves near the front.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0121.jpg

Gretsch (Argos) begins the racing with the first attack. Van Leijen (Lotto), Le Bon (FDJ), Tuft (Orica), Dodi (Lampre), Van Poppel (Vaconsoleil), Xu (Champion) and Bazzana (UHC) follow, these riders will hope to make the break stick.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0123.jpg

Petacchi (Omega) want to join the break.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0124.jpg

After a few attacks from other riders, Bazzana (UHC), Stromberg (Garmin), Van Poppel (Vaconsoleil), Gretsch (Argos), Petacchi (Omega), Van Leijen (Lotto), Dodi (Lampre), Le Bon (FDJ) and Tjallingii (Belkin) are off the front.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0126.jpg

Stromberg attacks his companions and the rest get caught by the peloton, Stromberg begins to pull away, he has 1 minute on the peloton, 160km left to race.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0128.jpg

Juraj Sagan (Cannondale) upends himself, hopefully this won't have a large affect on his brother.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0129.jpg

150km left, but Gutiérriez (Movistar) and Steegmans (Omega) attack in an attempt to join Stromberg. The Swede at the front has 2 minutes and 30 seconds on the peloton.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0130.jpg

With 145km left, the 3 riders in front of the peloton are on level terms. They have 2 minutes 43 seconds on the peloton.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0131.jpg

100km left for the break, about 7 laps to go. They have a 5 minute and 40 second gap.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0132.jpg

The lead of the break peaks at 6 minutes with 90km to go. The peloton begins to pull them back.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0133.jpg

50km left, 4 laps to go. The break has a 3 minute lead.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0134.jpg

Louder (UHC) hits the deck. His race is over.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0135.jpg

3 laps and 39 km to go. The break has only 2 minutes left, so it looks bleak for them.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0136.jpg

The favourites start to race! Thomas Voeckler (Europcar) attacks, he is chasing the break who still have 1 minute on the peloton. 30km to go.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0137.jpg

Sagan sets off in pursuit of Voeckler. Despite having a man in the break, Movistar controls the peloton.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0138.jpg

Stromberg senses the end, so he goes in an attempt to hold the peloton off. 2 laps left, 26km to go.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0139.jpg

Meanwhile, not far down the road, Sagan catches Voeckler, they are 30 seconds down on Stromberg and 30 seconds in front of the peloton.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0140.jpg

Voeckler and Sagan reach Steegmans and Gutiérrez, the latter of which refuses to work, as Movistar are desperately chasing. This group need to catch Stromberg who has pulled out a 40 second gap on them.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0141.jpg

16km left and all but Stromberg are together, as Verboven (Euskatel) launches a fruitless attack, nobody want to be left out of a group at the front.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0142.jpg

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0144.jpg

Stromberg against a 60-man peloton, with 15km left, he only has a 20 second gap.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0145.jpg

Gerrans (Orica) goes right pass Stromberg, Naudhaug (Belkin), Verboven (Euskatel), Sagan (Cannondale), Kakhi (Champion), Voeckler (Europcar), Vanendert (Lotto), Schroder (Europcar) and Gilbert (BMC) chase behind. Astana and Sky desperately try and bring Nibali and Sithembile back into the race. 14km left

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0147.jpg

1 lap left! It's the peloton vs. Gerrans now, with Stromberg just being caugh, Gerrans has 28 seconds on the pack.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0148.jpg

Gerrans hits 10km to go!!! But you can see Gilbert and Sagan attacking.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0149.jpg

Gilbert drops Sagan and catches Gerrans! But the peloton are just behind. 8km to go.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0150.jpg

DISASTER FOR SKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sithembile and Porte bite the dust! 7km left, hopefully Henao can save Sky's chances, but he may have to help relay Sithembile back, it doesn't look like they'll make it though.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0151.jpg

Gerrans gets caught but Stybar (Omega) goes. Gilbert, Nibali, Gerrans, Sagan, Costa and home favourite Hesjedal chase. 5km left.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0154.jpg

Costa jumps across the gap and catches Stybar! The peloton latch onto the back of the others. 2km left.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0155.jpg

Costa winds up his sprint. Can he make it?!

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0156.jpg

Almost there! Costa is at the front but the others are catching!

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0157.jpg

Costa approaches the line! He looks to have it won but anything can happen!

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0158.jpg

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0160.jpg

Aside from Sky riders, all the favourites are up there in the bunch, Nibali leads, Sagan follows then, Kakhi, Hesjedal, Gerrans, Gilbert, Kessiakoff... Brouwers and Kristoff are also here, so they might be able to sprint past.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0161.jpg

COSTA WINS!!!!! The Portuguese rider wins the 5th GP De Quebec! After his third place last year!

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0162.jpg

Stybar deservedly holds onto 2nd. A great attack, but some bad luck.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0163.jpg

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0165.jpg

Nibali rounds out the podium, Kakhi just misses out in fourth, followed by a tired Sagan, next is home favourite Hesjedal, no doubt disappointed not to win for his home fans. They are followed by Gilbert, Gerrans and Kessiakoff.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0168.jpg

Congratulations to all the riders who managed to hold onto the front group.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0172.jpg

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0174.jpg

Henao leads the Sky team across the line, after the crash, the team sent everyone back to help, it turned out to be a bad decision. Sky's eight riders finish together from 36th-43rd, 2 mintues behind Costa.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0175.jpg

Rui Costa, the champion of the 5th GP de Quebec. A great effort by him today.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0176.jpg

Movistar is the fastest team as well, with two riders in the top 10. Their chasing all day really paid off.

*Eats popcorn and waits for someone to tell me that I have to do this again*

Congratulations to Novo with the last 3, 6 of the last 8 and 8 of the last 11 riders and Sky with 8 riders in a row. Wink

and I loved it when Movistar chased their own teammate (even before Voeckler and Sagan attacked). Wink

Oh and Stybar is now a transfer target for Vaconsoleil. Wink

Not sure why Sagan attacked, but only needed top 10 so it doesn't matter. Smile

Hanzen is on a real run of form all the way from Denmark, you've got to think the Worlds could be interesting... Also that's 5 wins in part 3 for Hanzen, just one short of Brouwers seaon total

He have the chance to equal that on Tour de Vendee and Tour of Hainan, or why not, in the world championship Wink

Verboven 4th and 11th, quite unlucky for him.

No idea what Belkin is doing. In Brussels they fail to do anything, despite having Bos and Brouwer in perfect position. And was Brouwer sprinting backwards in Quebec?

Well, there goes our perfect record of scoring points each race Sad
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
