Statutory rape is right on the money. The reason I said it wasn't "rape" as in non-consentual is because it's an important distinction.
Not that it makes it any better, of course. He is in knee-deep shit anyway. By going through with this appeal he has managed to hit rock bottom and then started digging.

14! That would just be dumb. I cannot think of a single 14year old who is mature enough to make that choice. Especially as you know pedophiles would be all up in them legally, but still taking advantage etc.
However, in the UK at least, 16 still doesn't make sense. We can have sex, but cannot watch porn... Thats totally logical...
I can get someone pregnant but can't vote, can't drive, can't get married without permission...
The US is even worse as it has higher ages for legal drinking, and lower fro driving...

I see your point. But to be honest, two 15-year old kids in a relationship won't wait until 16 because that makes it legal... It won't solve anything, changing the law. And what, the state is going to arrest two kids for having sex? |

This is where the more subtle specifics in the law come in.
Two 15 year olds is just underage sex. If reported fuck all would happen, probably forced to see some help
If a 40 year old does a 15 year old, then thats different because of the age gap (would also apply if someone is 18+)
And its different again for 17 and 15 year old.

is said 40 and 15, and 17 and 17...
And in the UK that is potentially illegal depending on the situation because an adult is 18+ (so 17 is a child in law, sort of)

In Belgium the law is: 16 is ripe for sex, but everything 18 and above is illegal to have sex with everything below 18. So you can have someone from 18 and 40, but not someone from 17 and 19  |

I reckon the local law say 16 is the age here, or two years difference maximum if both are at least 15. Otherwise you can be charged for something like "under age perversion felony". |

In Spain the age of consent is 13, but if it's considered that there's been some kind of abuse, like the use of deceit or something like that, you could still be charged as long as the other person is under 16.

Can somebody find any reason and tell me why and what behind all those immigrants protests in Sweden? They are burning cars and figting police of state that gave them the chance to live there in peace,because of high unemployment and bad housing situation. So why they had not stay in their former countries and are begging for political asylum, when they are unhappy after it and rebel against goverment that gave them new chance to live?
There is 16% unemployment rate among young immigrants in Sweden, you call that bad and worth a rebellion? Such a rate is in many regions of Europe and people are not acting like animals because of it.

Police in the deprived, largely immigrant suburb of Husby shot a man dead last week after he reportedly threatened to kill them with a machete.
The founder of a local youth group told Swedish media the riots were a reaction to "police brutality".
However, local people accused the police of racism.
Rami al-Khamisi, a law student and founder of the youth organisation Megafonen, told the Swedish edition of online newspaper The Local that he had been insulted racially by police. Teenagers, he said, had been called "monkeys".
He said the crowd was reacting to a "growing marginalisation and segregation in Sweden over the past 10, 20 years" from both a class and a race perspective.
Any Swedes know more about this?
