A hilly day throughout the Ardennes, an uphill finish conludes the stage, it's going to be really steep in the last kilometers.
A 4-men breakaway came together today, Daniel Navarro, Blel Kadri and Jürgen Van de Walle were the biggest names in it. They built up a quite good lead, which peaked over 7 minutes.
As the gap started to rise fast, Rabobank decided to step up the pace, and bring things back together. With the help of Orica, they managed to pull back the daily break, and the peloton started to prepare for the last hill, the pace was very high.
However, this didn't prevent attacks, and a quite good group with Gerrans, Gasparotto and Vanendert broke away. Team Sky hit the front immediately, trying to reel them back in, while our Spiders were still in good position.
Turning into the last kilometer Gasparotto and Vanendert were still infront, they dropped Gerrans at the steepest part of the last climb. In the pack Sky and SpiderTech were controlling the pace, and tried to catch the escapees. At the front Vanendert was in the lead, but Gasparotto was closing in quickly, who wins it!?
And it's Jelle Vanendert taking the win, edging out Gasparotto on the line! Great attack by them. Philippe Gilbert finishes 3rd, while the best Spider is Jakab, finishing 6th. Our other GC contender, Puskaric, was just down by one place, he got 7th.
Tony Martin keeps the yellow, EBH comes up to 2nd, and Navarro captures the polka. The green is still in the hands of Tony Martin.

A pan flat, 206 kilometer long stage, it brings the riders back to France.
Yet again, a four men break, but this time it includes our very own Mike Pye, who decided to make the day easier for the team, but harder for himself. The group's lead quickly grew over 5 minutes, the peloton didn't seem to be too interested in the chase.
However, after the lead got over 6 minutes, Liquigas upped the pace in the pack, and slowly started to reel the BotD back in. The gap melted down, and at 18 kilometers to go, the peloton managed to make the catch. The sprint preparations started with Liquigas and Sky pacing at the front.
Those two teams also made their trains for Sagan and Cavendish, and these trains proved to be the most stable trains throughout the last kilometers. Our sprinter, Piasecki, was place right on the wheel of the Manx Missile, but he was struggling to keep up with the high pace of the Sky train. As we reached the "3 km to go" mark, Eisel launched his sprint before Boasson Hagen and Cav.
As Boasson Hagen launched right at the 1 km sign, it was all about Tean Sky upfront, as only Cavendish managed to stay with him. The others were down a bit, Piasecki was also there, having a hard time. At 500 meters, Cavendish made his jump, and overtook EBH, while Van Avarmaet was also coming fast with Sagan.
Cavendish takes the stage! The World Champion smashes the opposition, after a fantastic leadout by Team Sky! To make things even better for them, norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen makes it a 1-2 for Sky, while Greg Van Avarmaet takes the 3rd before of Sagan. Our best finisher is Piasecki at 17th, he faded a lot at the end unfortunately.
