sutty68/AbhishekLFC: No such a short prolog doesn’t say much about the race to come.

Xihaizhen:
Pre-race strategy: Another long mountain stage of more than 200 km, we will focus only on Ellisonde, holding on to the favorites as long as possible.

They can’t catch Sella, he wins the stage with 46 seconds to the favorites, Kenny Elissonde wins the sprint claiming 2nd.

11/7-15/7 Sibiu Cycling Tour (cat.2.1)
12/7 Stage 2/5 Sibiu – Balea Lake : 143.0 km
Christian Andersen reports: Todays stage is a short but hard mountain stage, heading south east for Balea Lake or Lacul Bâlea, situated at 2,034 m in the Făgăraș Mountains, there is no actual town, just a few hotels.
Pre-race strategy: We expect this to be a perfect chance for Davide Malacarne, he have to gain time in the mountains to prepare for comming losses in the ITT, he will attack today unless he has very day legs. Malacarne is in prime shape at the moment.
Profile:
It is very hot in Romania just as it is in china, with a clear blue sky and 39°C. The morning break is Preben Van Hecke (Topsport Vlaanderen), Nicki Sørensen (Saxo), and Artur Detko (Bank BGZ).
As we have an aggressive approach to this stage, we immediately send riders to the front, holding the escapees down to around 3 minutes.
The break is caught at the start of the climb, as soon as the elevation is at 7-8%, Davide Malacarne attacks with about 10-12 km to the top.
There is no reaction from the favourite group, until Mattia Cattaneo (Bardiani Valvole) attacks, 20 riders left in the favourite group, 7,5 km to the top. Malacarne has got about a minute at this point.
Mattia Cattaneo can’t hold the group away, he is reeled in. Then at 3 km to the line Francis De Greef (Accent Jobs) attacks, now just 11 left in the next group. Lasse Bøchman with fantastic legs on this stage, is still in this group.
Davide Malacarne wins a splendid solo victory at Lacul Bâlea with 1’36 to Francis De Greef. Lasse Bøchman takes the last spot on the podium winning the sprint in the 3rd group.
Christian Andersen: Fantastic stage for us, Davide takes the third win of the season and Bøchmans podium was certainly unexpected.
Stage:
1 | Davide Malacarne | Christina Watches - Onfone | 3h33'07 | 2 | Francis De Greef | Accent Jobs - Wanty | + 1'36 | 3 | Lasse Bøchman | Christina Watches - Onfone | + 2'18 | 4 | Matija Kvasina | Team Gourmetfein Simplon | s.t. | 5 | Dominik Nerz | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 6 | Heiner Parra | Avianca | s.t. | 7 | Mattia Cattaneo | Bardiani Valvole - CSF Inox | s.t. | 8 | Joshua Edmonson | Vodafone | s.t. | 9 | Giovanni Visconti | Bardiani Valvole - CSF Inox | s.t. | 10 | Esteban Chaves | Avianca | s.t. |
GC:
1 | Davide Malacarne | Christina Watches - Onfone | 3h35'59 | 2 | Francis De Greef | Accent Jobs - Wanty | + 1'41 | 3 | Lasse Bøchman | Christina Watches - Onfone | + 2'28 | 4 | Dominik Nerz | BMC Racing Team | + 2'34 | 5 | Giovanni Visconti | Bardiani Valvole - CSF Inox | s.t. | 6 | Mattia Cattaneo | Bardiani Valvole - CSF Inox | + 2'35 | 7 | Matija Kvasina | Team Gourmetfein Simplon | + 2'36 | 8 | Joshua Edmonson | Vodafone | s.t. | 9 | Heiner Parra | Avianca | + 2'37 | 10 | Sergio Pardilla | MTN - Qhubeka | + 2'38 |

7/7-20/7 Tour of Qinghai Lake (2.HC)
13/7 Stage 7/13 Qilian - Mt. Dadongshu: 85,3 km
Rasmussen reports: Today a short stage of just 85.3 km, from the small town Qilian to Dadongshu mountain pass, with a finish at 4117 m above sea level. The town is the center of Qilian County (祁连县) an area of 14.000 km2 with a population of about 50.000.
Qilian County, canola flower landscape:
Pre-race strategy: This might be the stage for Ellisonde to attempt a risky attack, if he has good legs trying to advance a little in the GC if possible.
Profile:
The morning break is 3 riders, seemingly riders that should have no chance on a stage like this. They get about 5 min of the peloton.
As soon as the peloton hits the climb the attacks begin. Yesterday’s stage 4 Nicolas Hartmann (AG2R) has joint the front group, a 2nd group of 5 with yesterday’s winner Sella is right behind the breakaway
Group Navarro/Ellisonde and the situation with 12 km left:
Over the next 10 km the two front group melt together, while Craddock, Kudus and Atapuma joins Group Navarro from behind. With just a little more than 1 km to the line, it looks like someone from the front group will win the stage. Group Navarro getting close to the finish:
The stage is won by Natnael Berhane (Champion System) over Rafael Valls (Caja Rural), Ellisonde was totally empty near the end, he gets in at 18, losing 1’35.
Rasmussen: May seem as a bad stage, but Jacques Janse Van Rensburg lost 2’51 on this stage. Ellisonde is now moved up to GC:5, after a hard day on Mount Dadongshu.
Stage:
1 | Natnael Berhane | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | 2h26'22 | 2 | Rafael Valls | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | + 5 | 3 | Eduard Vorganov | RusVelo | + 19 | 4 | Ramiro Rincón | Avianca | + 21 | 5 | Nicolas Hartmann | AG2R La Mondiale | + 41 | 6 | Mathieu Perget | Team Europcar | + 52 | 7 | Emanuele Sella | Lampre - Merida | + 1'19 | 8 | Daniel Navarro | Garmin - Sharp | + 1'21 | 9 | Riccardo Chiarini | Vini Fantini - Selle Italia | s.t. | 10 | Lawson Craddock | Competitive Cyclist | + 1'23 |
GC:
1 | Daniel Navarro | Garmin - Sharp | 29h47'44 | 2 | Merhawi Kudus | MTN - Qhubeka | + 11 | 3 | Sébastien Reichenbach | IAM Cycling | + 16 | 4 | John Darwin Atapuma | Katusha Team | + 24 | 5 | Kenny Elissonde | Christina Watches - Onfone | + 1'19 | 6 | Natnael Berhane | Champion System Pro Cycling Team | + 1'36 | 7 | Rafael Valls | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | + 1'49 | 8 | Jacques Janse Van Rensburg | MTN - Qhubeka | + 1'50 | 9 | Nicolas Hartmann | AG2R La Mondiale | + 2'37 | 10 | Lawson Craddock | Competitive Cyclist | + 3'19 |
Points:
1 | Maxime Vantomme | GUNK | 65 | 2 | Sondre Holst Enger | Christina Watches - Onfone | 63 | 3 | Alex Rasmussen | Garmin - Sharp | 54 |
Mountain:
1 | Kenny Elissonde | Christina Watches - Onfone | 50 | 2 | Emanuele Sella | Lampre - Merida | 30 | 3 | Sylvain Georges | Sojasun | 29 |
