17th February 2012 - Tour of Oman
(Sur - Sur)
I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I say today's stage... Is it a carbon copy as yesterday? Flat all day, with nothing but the desert sands and the wind as any sort of possible problems.
I won this stage last year, picking up my first win of the season, but this time around, I am aiming for my hat trick! The target is three wins in three.
9km: Like yesterday' stage, a numbe of riders attacked as the flag dropped, and initially 9 riders managed to get clear.
16km: It was up to Skil and Farnese to take control, and the break was kept on a tight lease.
43km: With only a minute between the break and the peleton, many riders saw this as an opportunity to bridge across, and soon enough, 22 riders were off the front.
55km: Skil were alert to the threat, and soon they were brought back.
58km: Approaching the first Intermediate Sprint, 11 riders attacked, and this time, Skil and Farnese seemed happy enough to let them go.
86km: It was a very organised break, and before long it had over 5'43" over the peleton.
96km: At the second Intermediate Sprint, their gap was down to 4'22", as the HTC led peleton upped the pace.
119km: The break was down 1'25" with 25km remaining, and it was looking set to be a Bunch Sprint.
124km: Rubén Pérez (Euskatel) was the first attack his fellow escapees, in a last ditched attempt to stay away.
127km: Laszló Bodrogi (Team Type 1) attacked the peleton, trying to force panic in those setting the pace, but the HTC guys stayed calm.
134km: Passing under the 10km banner, Sergueï Ivanov (Katusha) tried to get away for the second stage running, but like yesterday, he was quickly back in the main pack.
139km: Bodrogi was eaten up with 6km to go, as the HTC machine hit the front at full gas.
142km: I was delivered perfectly by the guys in the sprint, and I was in prime position as it began.
144km: And no one can stop me! Kittel tried to keep up, but he just did not have the legs. I complete a hat trick of wins, taking my third win in three days!

18th February 2012 - Tour of Oman
(Sultan Qaboos University - Jabal al Akhdhar)
After three flat stages to kick off the Tour of Oman, we finish today with a Summit Finish atop of Jabal al Akhdhar.
Safe to say, I will be losing the Red Leaders Jersey, but the plan to replace me with Tejay, and keep the Jersey within the team.
11km: A group of 4 riders managed to get away at the beginning, including Hayden Roulston. After 3 days of working for me, we decided to give him a free role today.
33km: As the break's lead grew to 1'12", a further 6 men joined the escapees, and working well together, the gap stretched out to 3'22" very quickly.
38km: Very few teams wanted to work during the early parts of the stages, with only Saur and Farnese - Vini sending single riders to work.
77km: As the break's lead peaked at 5'44", strangely Saur suddenly hit the front hard. There was still more than half of the stage to go...
101km: The lead was cut to less than a minute just after passing the second Intermediate Checkpoint, and some of the favourites saw this as a chance to attack. Igor Anton (Euskatel), Emanuele Sella (Androni) and John Darwin Atapuma (Colombia) were the main riders to get away.
125km: The Anton Group never managed to fully bridge to the lead group on road, as the peleton kept them at a 16" gao.
134km: Anton & co were brought back with the climb to summit on the horizon, and a few kilometres later, the group was pulled back as well.
142km: That was all but Paul Voss... The German rider had attacked the lead group without anyone noticing, so the chase was back on.
148km: Voss was back in the main pack within 1km of the ascent to Jabal al Akhdhar. Oscar Sevilla (Movistar) was the first to show his hand, and attacked his rivals.
153km: Sevilla would be joined by Sella in the final kilometres, as the main favourites watched each other... Would anyone pull these guys back?
155km: It's a Sella Victory. The Italian with the chequered past attacked Sevilla in the final 1km, and comfortable takes the win. Tejay finished with the GC favourites 38" back, whilst I came home in the grupetto in 96th place.

Sorry for the lack of updates recently. It has been a very busy post-Christmas and New Year period. But this are to be put right today
@all: Thanks for the comments. The ITT has been run, and will be posted later today.
@PCMRulez: I have jsut realised that I have not put the HTC classification breakdown at the end of the reports. Tejay is 13th on GC, 58" behind Sella.

19th February 2012 - Tour of Oman
(Al Jissah ITT)
After the Summit Finish yesterday, this will be the second start the GC men would have had their eye on. Yes, it may be a ITT, adding some advantage to the pure TT specialists, but the hilly terrain could come something back to the climbers.
0km: In the start ramp, and I have swapped the Red for Green. I am not expecting much, looking more towards tomorrow's final stage.
5km: Despite the climb at the start, I had started off like a house on fire! At the first checkpoint, I was only 1" behind HTC teammate Bert Grabsch.
11km: There must be a problem with my radio... Did they just say that I am leading? I descend like a stone, and go 2" faster than Grabsch.
19km: Sadly the first 11km had really taken it out of me, and I cross the line in 19th place.
The stage is ultimately won by Carlos Oyarzun (Movistar), whilst Tejay puts in a fine ride to finish 4th, 2" behind Oyarzun. I end the stage in 130th.
