Smart move by Quintana, to get up the road in case Valv needs him later.

He doesn't have to do anything else. It's no different from what Wiggins did in the Tour.
It is so different. Wiggins sucked his own team's wheels. Purito is sucking the wheels of another team's rider.
I don't see the difference. I only think it's worthy of criticism when a rider needs to attack and doesn't, which isn't the case with either of them.

It isn't criticisable on those grounds. It is criticisable because it is boring.

I look forward to you posting that the next time Wiggins is in a race.
You know, for consistency
OK, You got me on that one, but when Wiggins did it everyone slated him so much, so whats the difference with Rodriguez, why dont people slate him
While both are dumb accusations to make, RodrÃguez actually does attack when the road suits him. Wiggins attacked once in his career, for 10 meters.

Who would have thought that Purito might GAIN time on Contador on this stage... not me.
Edit: screw that, no more bonus seconds.

I'm not denying the legitimacy of the tactic but from a pure spectacle point of view, it kind of lacks... spectacle.

Well, the remaining two climbs suit Purito. Unless he has a bad day, he's won this.
Contador won't ever quit though.
As of right now I think Froome is commendable because he keeps digging despite being dead, Contador because he never quits despite being very far from top form (as is completely normal for someone coming back from suspensions), Valverde for the same reason as Contador (I'm honestly amazed Valverde didn't take until the second season to be this good), and Purito for obvious reasons.

I remember his attack in the 2009 Tour, when he jumped from armstrong's group. He looked so weird doing an attack, that when he realised where he was, he sat up and was caught again.
But you can't compare Purito to Wiggins. Wiggins makes Basso looks like he has Contador's explosivity.

This has been a really exciting Vuelta. Even better when two of my favourite riders, and another I respect are fighting it out for the podium.

SaxoBank are looking extremely good. I'd have never expected them to be so good.

Cat and mouse is always fun
I don't know what's more scary - that Contador is still marshalling the mountains after being out cold for a year, or that Purito is just gliding along side him the whole way.
It's nice to see some people finally warming to Froome as well. Hopefully he will change team sometime and then we can all enjoy him race |

Just realized how unlucky AndalucÃa are. Piedra rode for them during 4 seasons, and never, ever, came close to the stage win, I think he didn't even make the top 10 in any Vuelta stage. Then he moves to Caja Rural, and bang! Stage win in Lagos de Covadonga.

Contador's moral is zero , he just didn't realise that Rodriguez is better than him in the Mountain(Has luck that Purito didn't make an attack)
I remember something good of Purito: It was the only one who countred Schleck and Contador at The Tourmalet

Quintana was great today. He finally was on his level. Pity though that Contador couldn't get rid of Purito. Let's hope that he can get rid of him at Cuitu Negru. If he doesn't, I think Rodriguez has it in the bag. But with Alberto, you'll never know
