Stannard really nailed those last few KM. Van Avermaet just kind of miss timed that final push coming up short by a wheel, another 50m would have seen him win.
Drucker was impressive for 5th place and Garcia (!) in the Top10

No matter if you hate Sky or not, Stannard is definitely one of the most likeable guys in the peleton, this win couldn't happen to a much better guy, well deserved.

that is just literally unbelievable. Paces the entire way and hen wins the sprint.
He sat up for most of the last 3km.
What about the other 30?
That's just how Stannard rides. Van Avermaet was helping, he just wasn't doing as much work. On the other hand GVA really put the hammer down when he came to the front once or twice (about 5km out I think). Probably tired himself out a bit and then made a tactical blunder.
Like TMM said, another 50m and it would have been Van Avermaet's win. Too bad for him but looks like his form is right for the upcoming races. Great Stannard, he (and GVA) raced smart and with will. Not like Terpstra and EBH earlier on ("That could have been you guys"
I wonder what was up with Boonen though. Any news?

Lotto and Quickstep failed hard. Topsport Vlaanderen was the strongest Belgian team today. Sky had two very strong guys as well. Vanmarcke was the best in the race for me. As others have said, Stannard is one of the few Sky riders I don't mind winning.

Seriously? Terpstra 5th for Quickstep and Roelandts 13th for Lotto. Both are better than TSV. Not only that but Wanty had Drucker in 6th...

I said team, not individual rider. Roelants and Terpstra is not good enough. I was impressed by Drucker as well, but not by the rest of the team. Topsport was definitely the better team.
Topsport had at least two riders up there, Vanbilsen and Waeytens. Although I think Vanbilsen was dropped after his break effort. Perhaps two men for the future there.
Sounds like some great racing judging by my intermittent, snatched glances at Twitter. Here's hoping for some extended Youtube highlights...if anyone uncovers the last 30km+ let me know
