Great win from Evans. Picked the perfect moment and took his chance. Bizarre not to see him celebrating as he crossed the line though.
He was like shocked..He was so entranced that he couldnt stop kissing some thing what he was wearing under he's shirt..
I think it was his wedding ring or something.
It turns out that Evans lives really close to this course, and he must ride up that hill all the time when he is living there.
And next years course is close to his other home
About next years event, i agree that it is stupid that they hold it at the worst possible time of but all this about Evans retaining his world title will get cycling in Australia the most exposure they have ever had. It's just a one off anyway.

Yes, I didn't end up watching the podium presentations - never do - but I saw him repeatedly kissing the 'ring'. As I said, his behavior struck me as being a little bizarre.
Don't really like Evans - but am glad he won it. Seemed no-one was going to let Cancellara get away. Spain stuffed things up royally. The Italians did all that work for Cunego who wasn't able to do anything once his team-mates dissapeared.
I can't really find anything to complain about the World Championships being held outside of Europe either. |

Don't you find it just slightly amusing that some other nations appear? Or, should it be as it always has been, a game between Holland, Spain, italy, Belgium, and france every fifteen years.
This season has brought an enormous amount of publicity to cycling in Norway, and I reckon Cavendish and team Sky has done a bit for race cycling in GB aswell. This can't be other than good for the sport, even if it means the cycling forums gets maybe a bit to many Boasson Hagen fans (which might be annoying or a bit charming, there are to ways to cope you know ).
Still, as far as I remember, Norway had one in the finish, while there where no dutchies in the main group when entering the final lap. Arvesen even tried to attack, about 35 kms after the final dutchie ran out of steam... |

There were four Norwegian who came in to finish.
Arvesen: 12
Boasson Hagen: 60
Remme: 81
Rasch: 87
And this gave him.

Just goes to show that you need practice to do a good victory celebration
Anyway, just to show that he is happy about winning

Hoogerland and Kroon were there in the final lap, when Arvesen was. They all dropped when Cancellara attacked on the final lap. So uhm, what's your point?
IF you can't even recognize Dutch riders in their orange riders. Then just shut it

Howcome all the aggression?
Both Kroon and Hoogerland faded before Arvesen anyway. Of course they might have done a bit better with three riders more, although I hardly see them winning...
My point was, over the last few weeks there has been more cycling in the norwegian media than since those cheating italians knocked Knud Knudsen to the ground. Even though we, with hindsight, of course can say that the positiveness came as a result of not knowing the course and not beeing totally familiar with the sport, these last few weeks have done wonders for the interest in cycling in Norway. Cycling are now (albeit together with TDF and the Giro on tv) becoming a big tv sport in norway, and the interest is rising constantly.
I know this doesn't count against your "why does only the best five riders count" argument. But, in a year when holland clearly had no chance (with Gesink injured), why don't you try to see the positive side? |

I can agree with what Petterla said, I've got several friends that have used to watch a little TDF and that is it. I told them all to watch yesterdays race, and now they want to watch more and asked when next race is. |

They didn't fade before Arvesen, for the second time, they faded at the same time as Arvesen, on the first climb of the last lap when Cancellara accelerated and when 9 men were left.
And I know Arvesen finished 1 group in front of Hoogerland, but who cares after you get dropped by the best 9 anyway?
Hoogerland even attacked with Kolobnev and Rodriguez in the penultimate lap. So what you were saying is simply a lie.

That isn't really important anyway.
I take it that you agree with my main point about rising interest in other countries (because of results not forcing it like the football wc in 1994) being a good thing then?
This would in many ways have been a perfect time to create a autumn 7-9 day stage race in Scandinavia. (the only problem being that the mountainstages would have to be in Norway and the flat stages in Denmark). But instead someone wrote that it was to be in India and Dubai. If that is so, UCI for once are dead wrong. |

Are you high on something?!?
Autumn stage race in Scandinavia with the weather hereat the time is not something riders would like. Plenty of crashes, poor attendance (due to weather) and I'd think that plenty of top names wouldn't appear cus of the weather.
If they'd make a top stage race in Scandinavia, it would have to be between june and middle of august. That's the only time suitable for it.
Still, prolly better that there's no top races in Norway/Sweden. They should stick to their skiing and ice-hockey. |

again, why so aggressive?
I was thinking of something instead of the tour of Benelux (which more or less everybody seemed to laugh at this year), or maybe as a warm up race to the Vuelta (which would be early autumn here ).
Yes, the weather here are a bit unstable, but september is normally quite okay. Of course, there might be rain, but that my friend, you might find most places. |

I know september might go good if it's in the first week even that is not a good option, here it is 5 °C today and it's been snowing or more snow and rain and that is in 220 metres above sea, what in 1000 m + more?
Anyway if it would be a stage race at all in Norway it wouldn't be in september. |
