@Jandal - Certainly not! The storylines have just run their course to the end and this way it's not like i'm leaving Karl with any unanswered questions
@ALL - The Grand Finale of something like three years of writing is the next scene, #25. It will go up on Friday to give people a chance to catch up on the recent events if they've missed some scenes.

So the story concludes on friday? Not easy to predict. Will catch up on the final episodes, first, though |

I'm still in Act 4, since my english is not the best and I need to look up some words frequently, but so far I can only say that its great work. I don't even miss pcm results or pictures.

Not looking forward to the end, but it fantastic to see that you have seen this out to the end. So many stories (including my own) lose their way and die very early on, but your standard has been top notch throughout.

@Ian - At least your not catching up on the first scenes
@Sutty - Well it's not actually three years, and that goes back to the original start. But it's been quite a while regardless
@Paul - Great to see anyone taking the time to read it through!
@Hoyle - Well it seriously helps i was writing this because i wanted to. Clearly it wasn't for views or awardsor i'd have given up loooong ago

Act 10: The Final Act
Scene 25: The Grand Finale
Erik and Hannah. They were my new drivers. For Hannah I had to repay so much. Not in money or things but in trust and love. I loved her for everything she had given up for me and done for me, and I had to try and balance that out even if it was an impossible task.
For Erik I had to set an example. He would grow up hearing stories about me so I had to make them good stories, stories he could be proud of. My Dad had been so important to me, and he still was even years after he passed, I just wanted to be the same to Erik. I wanted to be an inspiration as well as a father.
Lucy and Phil's wedding was at the start of December. A beautiful day, clear and crisp with a sprinkling of frost on the ground. It wasn't easy watching Lucy mary someone else, connections like we had don't just dissapear. But at least she was marrying Phil, still probably my best friend even after everything.
We ambushed them during the reception with the news we were moving to Leiden. Lucy was clearly hesitant about me being so close to her and Erik but Phil was extatic at the news. Time would tell if it was the right thing to do but I had to try. That night ended with Phil and I on the hotel balcony overlooking the North Sea, a brilliant end to that chapter of my life.
31st December, New Years Eve. Hannah and I arrived at our new house early in the day and began to set up bits and pieces. In the early hours of the evening we ventured to a local bar, Hannah had a couple of drinks but I was still avoiding the stuff completely. We rang in the new year curled up in front of the TV. Honestly it was just perfect, a great way to say goodbye.
The past 6 years were just such an unbelievable blur to me. Packing in so much to such a relatively short period. But then I reckon most people go through as much, just that we don't see it. I know Hannah, Lucy, Natalie, Phil, Kristian, Mikel, Wilco and all my friends and teammates had been through all sorts of crap of their own, i've just been writing mine down.
2019 heralded a completely new start for me. I was here in my new home, with the woman I loved. Doing things I enoyed for no more reason than because I could. I wasn't wiping away the past but I was turning it into as many positives as possible. A grand end to this chapter of my life. I'm certain the next chapter would be worth reading.... someday.

That's one of the most beautiful ends to a story I've ever seen. Congratulations on a fantastic journey for you (hopefully) and us!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Well done
Amazing that you've finished this, in style!
As you know, I was an on-off follower. I missed some stuff in between, but got a lot of respect for you for doing this
Good luck to whatever new project you're cooking up! |
