PCM rulezz - Indeed. 2nd is really great, though beating the WC would've been just epic
Jakstar22 - Well, it was close. Boonen isn't easily slayed!
FreitasPCM - Thanks
sutty68 - Let's hope he can continue the streak
Daggen - I don't get it? where's Schleck?
Kuurne - Brussel - Kuurne most probably later today! |

Kuurne- Brussel - Kuurne
Today's task was easy: I had to make my own luck. If Degenkolb could hang on, I'd have to sprint for him. The team management literally told me: "if you want to go your own chances, you need to attack". I thought that was some great, motivating coaching, I was ready! Besides, I didn't want to risk Greipel getting a second win in a row.
The breakaway of the day got 5 minutes at the best.
Everything seemed quite normal when suddenly I choose the quick getaway, with a big, big thanks to Jan Ghyselinck! With 70 km left to go, I left many confused about what to do, now.
5km later, Jan was flat out and I left him. He'd done his job. I was facing another 65 km.
The peloton was reducing in numbers fast, the reason why: Cancellara and Boonen were taking turns to reel me in themselves. That was my queue, I took it easy for a while, rest my legs. No way I could stay out of their reach for another 40 km.
I got caught, and started recuperating, hopefully in time for the finale.
But a bigger pack was nearing, including some strong sprinters. I couldn't risk it, so I went on the attack! My legs hurt like hell!
Cancellara hunted me down soon and went his own way as soon as he caught up with me.
World Champion Boonen wouldn't let that happen and tried to bridge the gap to Spartacus. I tried latching on, my legs were burning now.
I lost contact and got lost between a speeding World Champion and a nearing peloton. I had no energy left.
Tornado Tom took another win after yesterday. What a guy, what a beast!
I was sprinting to stay out of the pack's reach, but I was unable to make any speed. I finish a strong fifth. Had the finish been two meters further, I would've been 10th, or worse!
I was flat out dead on arrival. I tried getting of my bike and fainted, actually. The team doctor gave me some sugar and some rest and I came by after a while. I really went deep today.
Yesterday 2nd, today 5th. If this is foreshadowing the cobbled season, I'm up for it! I did my best, gave it my best shot, and I can't say I'm disappointed. The team already let me know they surely don't regret signing me. I'm a happy man, but a tired one. See you later,
Stijn |

Daggen - Well, fifth ain't that bad
dienblad - At the time I knew I should've waited for the sprint, but I just felt I had to try one final attack, otherwise I might've been 2nd or 3rd, but there was a chance of winning in that attack, so I took the gamble
sutty68 - Thanks, mate! Stijn's doing absolutely great! Hoping he'll still improve one more COB stat for E3 (then he'll be 79 and maybe I can really race for the podium) |

Stijn is doing nice things in the first cobbled races. It seems promising, hope he can maintain this form until the cobbled classics
Edit: WAIT A SEC?
You did reveal a stat. There aren't stats in this story. LIAR!
I will now stop reading the story, I'm angry now
Spoiler Kidding
But it is Un-Ian-like to reveal a stat

But Stijn is showing some great form too

Another solid result, Stijn looks good for the cobbles ahead of him (although it's still a month away... ) |
