Well done Gilbert, great, great win after a bad season up to the Vuelta. Nice to see him in top form at the Worlds. |

Degenkolb in 4th. I take back everything I said about the weak German team. I completely underestimated him.

Degenkolb is a beast. I look forward so much to see him next year in the classics.

Surely Gilbert owes this victory to Nibbles for providing the perfect lead-out on the Cauberg?

Just as I did, and that comes from a guy who writes down his number to trace him in any overhead shot during a race
Pre-race, a German 10th place would have made me happy because we clearly lacked a tier-1-favourite, but Degenkolb surprises me on so many occasions.
6th over the second last Cauberg, and even though he expectably couldn't keep up the last time, he still had the power to nearly catch Valverde.
Watch out at MSR and RVV next year

There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

No
Well argued. I'm not saying Gilbert would have won it without him but looking at the way it played out, Nibali stretched it enough to ensure that the four riders behind him were all Belgian, and then kept pushing even though there were no other Italians around.

Looked like Leukemans would've been capable to do the same. Pretty strong Belgian squad to say the least. And Vanendert wasn't even here.
