Brutt, Di Luca, that's more Nerz's category. And yes, for stage 4, bigger gaps are expected.

Brixia Tour, Stage 3

The first flat stage provides a good opportunity for sprinters to get their place in the spotlight. If the respective teams pay enough attention, we should see a bunch sprint today.

Dominik's Pre-Race Comment

As all our shape increases, we hope for a great day for the team. In Guarnieri and Sabatini, we have two of the top favorites for today. The concurrence isn't too high so we target a stage win here.

Live Ticker

Km 7:	Towards the first intermediate, 9 riders came together to form the first break.

Km 13:	They are about a minute in front of the pack. Not sure whether they can stay clear.
.
Km 18:	As more riders jumped to the front, the peloton decided to bring them back.
.
Km 28:	Numerous riders are split in several groups, up to two minutes in front of the pack, which slowed down a bit.

Km 49:	Still no stable group.
.

Km 80:	5 riders are finally clear: Under the lead of Rugerio Marzoli, they built a four minutes lead.
.

Km 120:	Liquigas does the pace now and decreases the gap.
.
Km 146:	25 kms to go and still a 3 minutes gap. No team wants to help Liquigas, who have to increase the pace again.
.

Km 159:	Sergey Rudaskov (Itera Katusha) broke free from his breakaway companions and still has a 2 minutes gap with 12 kms to go. Looks good for him.
.

Km 164:	Liquigas is still working but they can only hope to reach the other four members of the break. Nerz in the mountain jersey is leading the Liquigas sprint train.
.

Km 169:	Nerz did a good job and placed Dall'Antonia in front with Guarnieri on his wheel. Sabatini fell back a little as he got boxed in. All five escapees will finish in front of the pack.

Km 170:	Under the flamme rouge, Guarnieri* is in front. Sabatini found his wheel again and looks great.*
.

Km 171:	Meanwhile, Rudeskov* celebrates a big win! He could hold off the chasing riders.*
.

Km 171:	Sabatini easily wins the sprint of the main pack. What a pity it wasn't for the win.

Dominik's Comment

Damn, what a crap! This could, and should, have been our first stage win here. But we weren't strong enough. We just don't have the team to pull a decent breakaway back in. And no other team was willing to help us. Looking at the dominant way we won the sprint, that is almost understandable. This sprint is also the only good point of today. Our train worked perfectly and the other sprinters stood no chance. Hopefully, we can repeat that in two days, and hopefully then we sprint for the stage win.

Anyway, tomorrow is the decisive stage for the GC, so I better go to bed now to be fit then.

A real shame you couldn't get the win, but hopefully Dom gets some revenge in the next few days.

I like Pozzo though, hopefully he can beat out Kiserlovski.

Brixia Tour, Stage 4

Penultimate stage, and definetely the hardest one. With three tough climbs and the mountain top finish on the Passo Maniva, this stage will fix the overall and we'll see a deserved winner.

Dominik's Pre-Race Comment

So the last mountain stage was really encouraging but I'm still way behind. The time trial just costed too much time. So I'll have to do something today!

Km 12:	The first descent passed uneventful.

Km 23:	A group of ten formed in front of the pack...

Km 25:	… and is caught again quickly.

Km 41:	Timothy Duggan does the pace on the first climb of the day, chasing the eight men out in front. Liquigas is very active today.

Km 67:	Due to Duggan's* work, only 29 riders are left at the front when Dominik Nerz accelerates to extend his lead in the mountain ranking.*

Km 88:	On the descent, another big group could catch up. 84 kms from the finish, Riccardo Ricco* attacks.*

Km 105:	Along with Leonardo Piepoli, Ricco* is two minutes in front. Both pose a real danger for the GC.*
.
Km 135:	Their advance is decreasing quickly under the pressure of Colnago – as well as the amount of riders in the front group is.

Km 138:	Well that's a surprise: 5 kms from the top, with the group around Ricco* almost caught, Dominik Nerz attacks!*
.

Km 143:	Ricco could hang on a little while but Nerz crosses the top alone! The pack is a minute behind! No he has to regenerate on the descent.

Km 163:	With only a minute of advance, he enters the final 9 kms of climbing. Doesn't look too good to be honest.
.

Km 165:	Colnago doesn't let Nerz* get away but he keeps his advance. Danilo Di Luca attacks!*

Km 167:	Di Luca didn't really get away. In the peloton, only consisting of 17 riders, Pozzovivo and Kiserlovski, the strongest climbers of the last days, overtook the pace and Nerz's advance firstly drops under a minute.

Km 169:	And Pozzovivo* attacks! With a strong acceleration, he passes Nerz. 3 kms to go!*
.

Km 170:	While Kiserlovski* is on the chase of Pozzovivo, Di Luca and Brutt caught up with Nerz.*
.

Km 172:	Pozzovivo celebrates a dominant win! Kiserlovski, who follows on second, had no chance and has to give up the yellow jersey.
.

Km 172:	Dominik Nerz lost only a little on Di Luca and Brutt, a great performance with an impressive solo ride. This vaults him to fifth overall! Plus, he dominantly leads both the mountain and the young riders classification.

Dominik's Comment

Fantastic! An almost perfect stage. I showed myself at the front for several kilometers, got rewarded with a fifth place at the stage and the overall, plus I'll get my third mountain classification and my fourth young riders classification of the year!

Dominik's Pre-Race Comment

Well, our plan for today is easy: Keep the pack together on the last kilometers and win this thing! We might well send someone into the break in order to take the pressure from our team. Also, we of course want to maintain myself close to the front so that my fifth overall is safe.

Dominik's Comment

Not sure about today. When we sent Carlo into the break, we sort of hoped for the others to bring them back so we could win the sprint. As we noticed that they wouldn't do any work, we may still have been able to bring the break back, knowing Carlo wasn't in a great position. But after all, he did a lot of work for the rest of the team in his debut season so we felt like giving him the chance for a nice result. And with Fabio and Jacopo, we still got two further men in the Top 10 so we can consider today at least a little success.

The race as a whole was surely great! I managed to achieve my personal goal of a Top 5, plus of course the KoM and the young riders jersey. And although we couldn't win on the flat stages, we still showed that we are capable of building a nice sprint train.

Coming up next for me is the Tour de Pologne, where I'll have a shared leading role with Sylvester Szmyd, who still has to get in better shape for the Vuelta. Fabio Sabatini and Alan Marangoni will accompany me again.

Great race for Dom with the KoM and the Youth jersey to go with his 5th overall. Shame you couldn't get that stage win for Liquigas, but still very well done. Polgone should be great.
