Draft Rounds 14-16
The final rounds were very different, some people easily got their top choices, while others had to go way down. Again, the Bombers missed the deadline, we'll see if and how they will continue the game.

Opening Weekend
BLOCK 1 | Opening weekend | | 24/02/2024 | Omloop Het Nieuwsblad | WT2 | 24/02/2024 | Faun-Ardèche Classic | CT1 | 25/02/2024 | Kuurne - Brussel - Kuurne | CT+ | 25/02/2024 | La Drôme Classic | CT1 |
With the draft done (unless I made some mistakes), we're ready to go! This block has been pretty solid throughout the years, the classic opening weekend in Belgium while France adds two hilly classics. Just two days of racing means no rider can ride than more two races this weekend.
Both in 2022 and 2023 the winning teams scored well in Block 1, so if that's any indication, you don't want to miss your start here. Let's get going!
I will need your list of 8 riders in this thread by saturday morning 10u00 CET. This is a hard deadline, if you miss it by even a minute I will just take your top 8 draft picks. Feel free to make changes before the deadline, but do this in a new post. Use the format LASTNAME Firstname (like the draft, list of all riders in this format is in the top posts on the first page).
Startlist on Procyclingstats are usualy pretty good, although they can change very last minute.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Pretty happy with the final rounds. Tronchon was #1 in R14, but it could also have been Perez, Laurance or Martinez... Tronchon was 2nd in Jaén, 7th in Var and 5th in Alpes-Maritimes, so he looks to be in pretty decent shape. He did all these small French classics last year, which was the main reason to have him as my top pick here. He'll mostly be a helper for Cosnefroy (or APP) I guess, but he could have some scoring potential on his own, too.
Einhorn was my #1 pick for the final free rounds, and should bring the fairy-tale-factor to my team (Einhorn being the German word for unicorn). He had a couple of Top 10s and Top 20s in classics last year, including Milano - Torino or Scheldeprijs. There's probably some more team-internal competition this year with Hofstetter and Ackermann, but I hope he'll still get his chances to shine. Winning a stage in Rwanda isn't the worst publicity...
Perez is just a "get me one final rider" pick. Mainly one for the smaller French classics again, for which I'll hopefully have enough firepower this year. Would've gone for Martinez (Lenny), but his calendar draft looks too stage-race heavy to me. Might regret that - just like for Molano, for example, surprised he didn't get picked at all - but expectations for R16 aren't high anyway.
I do like the Hussars' picks, but we'll see how many classics they'll ride indeed. Could be some nice races for them, though.
Thanks for leading us through the draft, now I'm excited to get the season properly started

Thank you for doing the draft, Ollfardh. Great work as usual. Some smaller names for us in the last three rounds, but we're hoping Dupont does well in the sprint races he attends and the Tudor puncheur duo Kamp-Voisard might have some top 10's in them to add to other puncheurs like Gregoire, Gaudu, Yates and Pidcock.
Zondagscoureurs, block 1
PIDCOCK Thomas
STUYVEN Jasper
WELLENS Tim
GREGOIRE Romain
TAMINIAUX Lionel
DE BONDT Dries
ALLEGAERT Piet
VOISARD Yannis
Hope I'm making the right choice leaving Moscon on the bench.

I realised too late my Ardennes squad was close to non-existant. Vansevenant and Covi will hopefully get some points there, but compared to like the Cobblers (not living up to their name this year ) or the Ice Tulips, I'm very weak.
That of course means I'm overloaded on the other departments. I have 13 confirmed starters for the opening weekend so far, some tough choices coming up.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

GAUTHERAT Pierre
CAPIOT Amaury

For once, too many riders for us - currently 11 are on one startlist at least. Currently benching Askey, Perez and Bissegger, but might change my mind in the coming days...

Only 9 riding for us this week - Simmons gets the sit-out even though he rides both Faun's. Just no way he gets priority over his teammates

Rogues for the opening weekend:
BENOOT Tiesj
VAN AERT Wout
ASGREEN Kasper
ZINGLE Axel
THEUNS Edward
TURNER Ben
BERCKMOES Jenno
BIERMANS Jenthe
I mean, that's a good team, but I'm so going to regret this. Teuns, Pithie, Segaert, Braet and Svrcek can all score points.

Fainthearts Block 1 (Updated)
ASKEY Lewis
BETTIOL Alberto
COSNEFROY Benoit
HOFSTETTER Hugo
GAUTHERAT Pierre
CAPIOT Amaury
BARGUIL Warren
BISSEGGER Stefan
Tronchon and Geniets out, Askey and Bissegger in. Going for the higher category races, although I might regret this choice...
And I guess making a new post instead of editing the previous one is what is expected, right?
