60 km to go, still a 9 minute gap for the BotD. people around me have been saying "oh it's gonna be close for the peloton now with 20 mins/150 k to go, 15 mins/100 k to go" and I just find it hilarious when this always happens in national teams events nowadays

anybody watching olympjc road race? Breakaway climbing Fuji pass, 100km to go
I woke up early and the only interesting thing I've seen so far is Thomas crashing, which would have happenend sooner or later anyway
Van Vleuten manages to crash the same exact place XD

god I have no idea what's happening in this race.
BotD broke into solos with Kiesenhofer leading. Van Vleuten caught by the peloton |

I'm not very good in woman's cycling. Will there be no medal for Netherlands? Can peloton reach Kiesenhofer? |

4:30 with 20k to go, can they reach chase group? I feel kinda stupid watching woman's race
edit: Well I guess it's not possible looking at how they ride in peloton. Good for me, Anna Plichta with chance of medal |

this race really has been "making the dutch lose" so now you have Kiesenhofer (Austria), Plichta (Poland) and Shapira (Israel) deciding the medals.
does this mean task succesfully failed?

Hope so, because of medal for Poland
Wiggins was right, it looks like like junior race, either for men and woman. |

can only respect Kiesnenhaufer. really crazy race.
I'm not really sure Van Vleuten knows that Kiesenhaufer won or that's the extremely happy with silver, after that horrid Rio crash

It appears so they were standing next to Kiesenhofer and looking like WVA and Dumoulin watching Pog TT in 2020 |

Amazing race. Totally deserved by Kiesenhofer. What a ride, she made history today.
The Dutch completelly fucked up and van Vleuten believing she had won was just the icing cake. They are not only the ones at fault for the terrible race management - Italy and other teams could've helped the chase as well. |

Apparently the pack didn't know that Kiesenhofer was still up the road

I’m left wondering whether Netherlands having 4 potential gold medalists in the team made them have such questionable tactics and not sacrifice one to chase and set a strong pace… or if in fact eveyone “relaxed” because they had no idea that Kiesenhofer was ahead. |

imo every nation had to sit behind Dutch, or no chance to win Gold and maybe Silver, they had 4 potential winners...if the peloton catches early the break, Van Vleuten/Van der Breggen going solo and Vos/Vollering take 2nd behind, that's most likely scenario
