It will be very interesting to see how well your new cobbled setup matches up against the other top teams on the area. I'm pretty happy to keep well outside that fight and just see if Karatzios and Kortsidakis can keep up for as long as possible
On one hand, yay cobbles!
On the other i'm a little sad to see the great Aussie team disappear. Interested to see your approach to transfers in a years time. Certainly you're perfectly safe in the PT mid-field again
And that jersey keeps me happy, bright colors!
thanks for the feedback, guys. as always! interesting season ahead, indeed. not sure if it will pay off and things didn't go too well after all, so I fear missing the top-10 for another year will be probable (especially with the most important cobbles pthc band NOT on our schedule this year)...
..anyway, we managed to push Haig a bit. Our roster this season:

a desastrous 2021 campaign ended with the team's first ever relegation - we're back in the pct! not too many words need to be said, but it's pretty obvious, that our "master plan" of leaving our 100% oceanian focus and giving away jack bobridge for danny summerhill didn't go as planned.
so... we're back to a full oceanian roster for the upcoming season and brought in two riders, who were linked to our team almost every year since we existed (well, except for the first name): sam bewley and jay mccarthy. there's a comeback by luke durbridge as well, the same goes for rhys gillett.
lachlan morton had to leave amaysim, which didn't come as a big surprise thanks to our relegation though. hard to say, whether we will be in competition for promotion, but we surely will try to. here our goals for the 2022 season:

Very nice rebuild especially with the regional focus getting fully incorporated in the transfer policy. You're an obvious promotion candidate do good luck.
I'll be watching closely to find which riders of yours may want to finish their careers with us as per tradition
before we talk about the (succesful) 2022 campaign, that would eventually see us promoting back to protour, we are proud to announce the (new) sponsors and shirt for next year.
first of all: we're happy to continue the work with our main sponsor amaysim - not just because amazing things happened in the just concluded pct season.
second of all: with our deal with cervélo ending, we're glad to announce our new name giving partnership with.. australia! visit australia.com and - in best case - the country itself. we couldn't have asked for a better new partner than this!
the core of our partners stay the same: kask, shimano, clickenergy and also nike. while the basic design of the new shirt is kept from the well known shirt of the past two campaigns, the colors and details will change - prominently influenced by the new partnership with australia.com!
obviously there's the logo of this new partner, alongside a tradidtional pattern, which stays for the "acknowledgement of country" - we acknowledge the traditional aboriginal and torres strait islander owners of the land, sea and waters of the australian continent, and recognise their custodianship of culture and country for over 60,000 years.
on the back of the new shirt we go with amaysim's pride campaign and spread the message not only in pride month, but over the entire season!
Not a big "website in the name" guy but I do like the jersey, particularly the acknowledgement of country is very cool to see for an Aussie team and the pride flag too Excited to see you back where you belong, and good riddance with all your awesome riders beating the rest of us all season!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant." [ICL] Santos-Euskadi | [PT] Xero Racing
the 2022 season is done and dusted: amaysim cervélo (which will become amaysim australia.com) will be back in protour for the 2023 season! a magnificent year it has been, in which most of the plans and tactics worked out to perfection:

the team's second promotion in it's 11th year - and, even more important: the team's first division title ever! quite a dominating campaign right from the beginning, where jay mccarthy won the tour down under on home soil. definitely a special win, such as an unexpected victory in the great ocean road classic by alex wohler (one of our longest team members). mccarthy would add another victory in badaling eventually.
jay mccarthy winning on home soil was a great opener to a great season
alex wohler took the great ocean road classic with a late attack
kiwi and cycling legend sam bewley proved to be a great addition, too: winning two classics (le samyn, kp kigali) and bringing home several good results to finish 12th in the individual's pct rankings. also luke durbridge delivered by winning the arab tour and adding podium results in two more stage races.
sam bewley proved to be a legend once again (kp kigali in the picture)
a very good season for luke durbridge as well, obviously through timetrials
jack haig scored consistently, though missing out on gc wins (yet he at least took a stage win in romandie), finishing 9th in the individual's rankings. lucas hamilton (who we almost lost in the off-season) had a stellar/breakthrough campaign with a 2nd place in the tour de pologne (missing out on the gc win by the smallest possible margin), 10th place in the tour of america, a kom shirt at vola a portugal and two stage-wins in america and portugal as well!
lucas hamilton had a stunning campaign with his biggest results in poland
hamilton had two stage-wins (tour of america in picture), just like durbridge

8 stage-wins and 3 classification shirts in total for the team, though it must be said, that we had several runner-up results (not only in races/gc's, but also in classifications). the scoring just almost didn't stop:
Bewley did really well which I thought was possible, but performances from the likes of Hamilton and Wohler really pushed the standard to the highest level.
the first signings of our 2023 transfer season has been sealed earlier today and opposing to last year(s), we went for a few talents from australia and new zealand on first hand.
we're happy to announce the addition of two young guns, who we think can become solid pieces to our future squad: dylan hopkins promises a solid climbing skillset and we're curious to see, which direction this young aussie will take.
the same goes for a young kiwi, who just joined us for a pretty high wage: finn fisher-black was impressing in his junior years, particularly on short timetrials, where we believe he can be a dominating specialist in the future. he's been a big target for us and so it's a pleasure to announce his signing today.
both talents will be loaned out immediately though, as they of course need to approach to professional level first.

The transfer season is done and so it's time to present our roster for the 2023 ProTour campaign. Things didn't really go as planned eventually, as we missed one or two big Free Agency targets, that would have come handy for our goal to avoid direct relegation in our "comeback" season. Anyway, we still landed some deals, that may help us this year: an experienced Peter Kennaugh and a long-time target Nicholas Schultz may add some depth to the squad afterall.
Opposing to the previous year(s), we mainly had to go for Oceanian talents though, yet we couldn't sign all of the talent targets neither. But the addition of Finn Fisher-Black and Logan Currie definitely makes us quite happy. Also Dylan Hopkins promises a solid skillset. Those three will spend the season in lower divisions, opposing to Josh Kench, for whom we had a deal done, but couldn't confirm it right in time. He will get some racedays for us though.
Overall we're not entirely happy with how things went, but of course we trust our lads to prove that last year's dominating PCT performance can push us to some surprising results in the highest level of cycling. The obvious leader will be Jack Haig, who seems to improved after a hard winter of training and who's motivated to bounce back from a somewhat "mediocre" 2022 campaign. Jay McCarthy and Luke Durbridge remain the potentially scoring duo behind him, even though the PT calendar doesn't suit them as much as our PCT planning did.
Legendary Sam Bewley will be missed, of course, and so we will be back to the cobbles level we had in our relegation campaign two years ago.
So much young talent, so much Australian talent. I know you say things didn't go as you planned, but Haig at 83 mountain carries you past relegation danger I think, and then it's all uphill.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy
I see now why Haig was (as usual ) unavailable, love the transformation into a proper bonafide GT podium rider if he wasn’t already. If you pick the right GT, he could even find himself on the top step of the podium - the first Aus GT winner?
A somewhat quiet transfer season for you so Haig getting some more mountain training wasn't a surprise at all. I didn't think I would spend another season in the same division as you after you dominated PCT last year
Also I'm surprised Sweeny didn't get a mention in the write-up after the big bidding war we had for him
