Not that I actually expected anything from van der Hugenhaben, but I can't help but think it sucks a bit to have the best (on paper) puncheur in the race, and then see him do absolutely nothing to finish 17th, while the 2nd best attacks for the win.
But it's van der Hugenhaben, so whatever he does I have to be content with him not fucking up everything. And by that, he's far above expectations with his GC top 20 before the mountains. If he can land something like 30-40th I will eat that.
Chamorro, however has been a big dissapointment this season. I can only hope that now that the sprints are over, that he will attack for some KOM or stage results.

Nice to see Egger joining the break although he could have finished the day with some more mountain points. I hope to see attacks of one of my flimbers every day now and hopefully one can get (close to) the kom jersey and potentially a stage win too

Tenorio is still in hunt! This is exactly what we got him for. Just stick on Madrazo's wheel in the mountains and keep chipping away at Phinney's lead. It feels weird to actually have a guy that could finish on the podium of a GT. I like it.

Not a bad stage by Madrazo. Didn't expect him to already win back some time on Phinney in the hills. Shame he was badly positioned, or else it could have been an entire minute.
Strong performance by Herklotz; he is definitely also a rider to watch for the GC.

Yes! The gamble worked! Bringing Borges here was a huge stretch, but taking this stage win makes it worth. On top of that having Intxausti hang on with the main group is the cherry atop the cake. Brilliant day for us. Thanks, for the congrats everyone!

That was a huge failure from Alarcon Too bad Marquez decided to stay with him...
Very good stage from Herklotz, good to see that he market himself for joining another German team soon

Quite happy with that stage for my team, great to see that Marquez is willing to attack, and allowed to do it. I really hope that continues on the next mountains, should get at least a stage win then
I really believe Phinney will win the race, but Herklotz is looking like the strongest climber at the moment, will be interesting to see how much time he can get back, and if he can challange Phinney / get a good podium spot

Good stage from Martin again and jumping a few more places in the GC. Really like what I've seen from him so far this race. Decent depth again, liked seeing Nesset on the attack, even though he wasn't on a super strong day.
Herklotz is looking strong....

Úran up there with the best, looking solid for a top 10 GC at least. So far I'm satisfied with the results.
Herklotz strong this stage, maybe he can give Phinney a run for his money.

After a superb day, we drop down to earth to see Intxausti suffer in the mountains. Those pesky PCT wildcards getting in the way of a very good GC here. Still plenty of opportunities to fend Martin and Úran off, but it's more likely that their gap will widen than the reverse.
Herklotz looking sharp still, while Phinney is Indurain'ning this race to the 3rd week. Interesting race so far from Madrazo, Tenorio and Kritskiy. Alarcon though is a shadow of his former self. Congrats, cio!
Brilliant report, Aquarius! Very lively and intense in the crucial moments. Thanks for your effort!

A day I will never forget.
An entire season that is a reward for years of development and millions spent.
Thank you to everybody! Not just to those who congratulate today or from now on, but also to everyone who got the game to this day through all those seasons.
And in particular to the people who believe in this team more than I do myself sometimes. It really means a lot.

What a brilliant performance. The Vuelta is officially over for us. No attacks, nor giving a crap about just following.

Congrats to Taaramäe-Mobile! Another very mature ride by Herklotz, knowing how to pace himself well.
Making the catch to Martin immediately could've made a big difference and resulted in an even better finish, but who am I to complain about putting minutes into Phinney, Kritskiy and Tenorio anyway!
The gap to the latter two might be big enough already to stay ahead after the TT, considering it's half climbing, half descending, which should greatly reduce the time loss if Silvio has a decent day.
Overall, that actually means we're very much on target regarding our podium goal!
Madrazo looks too good to beat with Phinney not having any margin for another day like today anymore. Herklotz needs to be careful not to focus on the American too much though and let Dan Martin slip by, who looks really good so far.
The KoM battle seems interesting as well so far, luckily with Evonik not keeping the jersey for eternity as I feared after the flat stages. Alarcon would deserve that consolidation prize, although he didn't seem to care too much.

Ca-razy stage from start to finish. , with a valiant victory from Marquez. Congrats Heine!
Phinney cracked spectacularly, but tomorrow's TT should put him on top of things again.
Another lost battle for us. Intxausti is definitely not interested in initiating aggression nor is he being able to limit time losses throughout the climbs. Fortunately he's managed to find a safe spot in 8th place, but if theses losses keep their consistency a top15 is going to be really hard to achieve.

Wow, that was fireworks! Not so surprising when you have so many great riders far behind, but made the stage very, very interesting. A great stage for us, with Martin really showing his best and climbing in to the top 5 already. Very, very happy with that stage.
Congrats on the win, Heine. Brilliant ride by Marquez!

YES! Great job Madrazo. Winning two minutes on Phinney is huge and it's cool to grab the leaders jersey. I'd say both Herklotz and Phinney remain dangerous contenders, but this stage definitely increased Madrazo's chances.
Now lets limit the losses to Phinney in the TT and hopefully put some extra time into Herklotz.
Great job on the reports so far Aquarius!

That was fun. One of the more interesting stages I've seen played out on PCM in a while. Too bad Tenorio didn't do much and just watched the fireworks display.
