Not the greatest race for us but it could have gone a lot worse. Given the strength of the field here and the absolute disaster that is my team's TT ability, I'll happily walk away from this with what we got.
A great effort throughout from Zingle & Caruso who, despite their bad days, held on to finish 18th & 23rd respectively and getting much needed points in the process. Good to see Le Gac getting out on the attack and taking 7th in the KOM which scores very few points but I like the attacking intent. If we can bring this aggressive racing, even Caruso & Zingle attacked, into the upcoming races then we could get our season back on track.
Cheers jandal for the detailed reports! The action on that final stage was captured amazingly well.

F**k yes! I was ready for another disappointment, but we finally got our win goal here (and our first GC victory since... I don't know, it's been a while). Definitely a much needed result already so early into the season and with Bobridge finishing in the Top-3/5 in quite some stages here, the points classification is both deserved and obviously adds some nice points (just as Watson adding some points as 2nd in the U25 classification and 25th in the GC).
Indeed a smart ride from Bobridge in that final stage. Getting use of his superior acceleration in the sprint and taking a rare stage win for us is great and obviously it's even better when you grab that GC with this move. Kinda heart breaking for De Bie to lose ground on the very final few hundred metres, but at least he did not fall that low
It's been a while since I've been really satisfied with my team. But today I am
Thanks for the quality reports, jandal. This last stage was a true thriller for me and you caught the drama pretty well there.

Well in the end a very lack lustre race from us. Hatanaka with a nice 15th on the final stage, but nothing in the GC means almost no points here for us.
Very exciting race from a neutral perspective though.

Holy shit Trofimov what happened, 31st and dropping to 9th??? I don't understand how horrible he is with his stats looking so good.
Congrats to tsmoha. Thanks for the reporting jandal.

If someone would've offered me 8th in the GC at the start of this race, I'd have gladly taken it. Losing a spot on the last stage sucks but it's not that big a deal. Especially given how the rest of the race went! Both Costas delivering the goods, and the KOM win is a much needed points boost to go with the GC. Dieteren with a U25 placing is good to see. Add to that three more riders in the Top 50. Shame we lost the Team's classification points on the last day, but it was a hard hard stage and our guys were just tired. Still, March is off to a very good start!
Congrats on the GC win tsmoha, it's been a long time coming! Thanks for the great reports jandal, really enjoyed them

Another rather anonymous stage result, but the GC became decent in the end there. I have to be happy with 10th and 13th, seeing Beltran's time loss in the opening TTT. Good to see Vakoc being able to finally score some points, eventhough they're only minor, anything helps in the fight to stay in the top 10.
And what a dramatic final stage that was! Thank you for a very nice report, jandal7. Must say I thought De Bie seemed to control it well, but perfect execution from Bobridge. Congratulations, tsmoha |

Well, that sucks to lose the GC on the final climb by such small gap...
Bobrdige simply was stronger as likely better recovered after the ITT, which is fair enough seeing his skills there. But still feels unlucky.
Congrats tsmoha though. Bobridge was the more suited rider for this race and he took in the end. 2nd I would have signed beforehead on any day surely and so it`s still a fantastic result for me. Hopefully he continues in the future races as well as those hill points are much needed this season with the climbers scoring a lot less most likely and also the sprinters are often a bigger gamble.
Zardini and Boom with top30 themselves for additional points but surprised by how weak Gallopin was all week. Maybe the protection of De Bie?
Thanks for the reports! Always a nice read. |

4th by TVG is a really good result. I had a small hope for a podium, but saw top 5 as more likely so really happy about 4th. No stage win, but up there on several stages
Congrats tsmoha, time for Bobridge to get some good results. Unlucky for De Bie, really felt his training helped him here, just lacked that tiny extra to win

Thanks for the compliments, reports almost wrote themselves though with a great race! Congrats to tsmoha for the long overdue GC win, well taken from Bobridge. I have to say I did feel for De Bie, would have been a deserving winner too and I'm not sure if it was luck or really out of energy but he just lost the wheel. Shame.
Also a good race from Tejay and Mohoric in particular I felt, and obviously a shame to see Trofimov collapse like that. Also felt sorry for Gazelle after such an amazing start on day 2, same for Vanendert, Kulczyk with no luck here. Enjoyed the KoM fight too - dominating from Costa in the end but some good fights on each day. Imagine if Pernsteiner rode like that even on one other day!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Another PTHC race pretty much dominated by the PT attendees. Congrats to TSM on a Bennelong victory, much needed for them after a weak start to the season to date. De Bie starting to provide a good return on his training investment here for Aegon with 2nd overall after multiple days in yellow. Philips the one PCT team trying to stand against the PT might and giving a good account of themselves. Congrats to those managers.
Even though not in attendance here, enjoyed the in-depth reports, so thanks to our reporter. As long as is not impacting game speed, high level of detail obviously appreciated.

Bit disappointing to lose the GC top-10 in the final two stages. Looking at the riders that beat Klemme it's not that much of a disaster, but I did hope for a bit more after such a decent start.

Seriously jandal, you made amazing reports for this race I wish i was racing here so i could enjoy them even more
Really happy that Bobridge won the race for Bennelong. Tsmoha really deserved a great result like this after all the Morton-shit in PN. It hurts for De Bie to lose the GC win in the final 200 metres of the race, but the Belgian can't be unhappy with his race.
Bakelants with his usual consistency, picking a stage win that might be the only one of the year, like he's used to (amazing that he's been a regular Top20 in PT Ranking since 6-7 years ago, and he has only won 14 times in his career, and only 1 big win in LBL 14, no other big classic wins or stage races wins).
Looking at PCT teams, really good that only Phillips got big points from here, and the rest of PCT team struggled here against the great strenght of PT teams

Ouch! That final stage completely obliterated our GC and even cost us the teams classification.
It was a very enjoyable tour though. Congrats to tsmoha!

Really lovely reports throughout jandal
Unfortunately, your enthusiasm was not matched by either my hill squad or the team manager, who clearly rolled a dice every day to decide who our leader would be. I think the Polish vodka (or maybe Sangria?) got to Janek Wawro in Spain this time around.
We'll look back fondly at the flamenco dancing we were able to see on the team night out, and Kristof Goddaert/Ryan Mullen/Marcel Barth coming home wasted after a boozy night on the town with the other time trialists who were dragged to this race. Other than that, it was a race to forget.
And genuinely, congrats to tsmoha, so well deserved, and really pleased that he finally had one of his big guns deliver!

Well... Not much to say really. We did nothing, and the TT proved to be too hilly for Zmorka. That's 6 wasted race days for us.
Thanks for the lengthy reports though jandal |
