The fuck are people talking about Contador here. Guy has been 2nd in three GCs this season, narrowly missing out on some of them. He clearly has burnt in the past too many matches in spring and is now looking to ultrapeak in July. Tour is his major goal and the last two years he had either the Giro in his legs or crashed too early to make a difference. So there is literally no way that you guys know for certain if can have the legs in peak shape to win le Tour. Mind you, looking at Quintana this Giro, Contador way stronger than him in Giro, after all he won it too.
Regardless, ultrapeak for Tour is his approach this year and the last one, and fingers crossed it works out. But to discount Contador and say he has no chance and rather name riders who havn't won the Tour de France a single time (and Porte hasn't even podiumed a GT in ever but ofc, his form is superb so far) just basically means you are trashtalking him (strydz, avin) as usual
So you basically say he is great whole year, nearly missing wins in majority of stage races he entered and on the other hand he took different approach and is ready to superpeak during Tour. Sorry, but that does not make sense to me. He is hardly a podium favourite for me, deal with it. He even does not have Kreuziger next to him, who usually dragged him upto climbs at Tinkoff
Kreuziger did shit-noting for him apart of 2013, period. Pretty useless guy who had his own bloodpass problems as you may remember and who declined sharply after 2013 so that he is now domestiqueing the yates bros wow. Treat lighty. Glad Contador has Pantano btw now, a better helper than Kreuziger has ever been.
Besides that, read again: Contador has burnt too many matches in spring before this year and now he wants to reserve some energies to be in peak shape for Tour, that's why he hasn't been so strong compared to previous years. He is old, he needs a different approach. Why haters complain about his age but don't understand he needs to prepare differently? Meanwhile, you guys (aka the real experts) are back to your usual selves where you distribute the cake to the winners and podium before a single race day has gone by. Same old bullshit as ever on this forum sigh. Maybe deal with that.

Calm down mate...i dont have reason to continue this debate, when you are calling probably the top3 worlds luxury GT domestique (Kreuziger) a useless helper that does nothing for his leader. Are you sure you are not mixing him with Majka?
Btw it is funny to hear about distributing the cakes to winner from you, who overhype every second youngster and give them credit for something that can happen in the future.
I sense anger in you, because we touched your idol...

I agree with your last point: Its annoying that some people basically pretend like its a lock. Well, this year it isn't I can guarantee that. Its wide open, the GC throughout the race and Porte and Valverde are really up for it this year.
I know who I will be cheering on in July and I think he has decent chances of winning. So has Contador, Quintana, Porte...
By the way, this is B365 odds. Porte is, rightfully so, rated extremely highly:
2,00 Froome
3,00 Porte
9,00 Quintana
9,00 Contador
10,00 Valverde
...
21,00 Bardet
41,00 Chaves
41, 00 Aru |

Kreuziger worked really well for Contador in '13 Tour but he is not that good for the last 2-3 days that he is a domestique for Yates bros. I'd prefer Pantano to him, Pantano is a bit weaker than Kreuziger but he looks much more loyal. |

Are you guys blind with Kreuziger? The way he helped Sagan with his stage win last year or how he helped Majka to secure polka dots...he is often mentioned as one of the top GT luxury domestiques not only for GC leaders, but for other team goals too and that is also one reason why he was brought to Orica, team full of young GT talent. You would not like to have someone who is not loyal to his leaders in that role. The best road captain of last decase Mick Rodgers also spoke along those lines several times, so i am not sure where you guys got that impression.
Yeah, he failed as a GT leader several times, but never as luxury helper, when he had something left.

Btw. you say that Froome is weak or in problems, that is for me thing where you wish is ahead of reality. In fact i think that we only see results of his different approach to this season, because SKY does not want him to fade again in last ten stages like last years. So he started racing later, rode less and thus is not in top shape yet. That does not mean he wont dominate the Tour.

But that one wasn't impressive. Kreuziger should've been there anyway.

This has turned into Tour preview thread right?
Bertie definitely has a better team this year with Felline, Andre Cardoso, Pantano.
Nobody knows how Mochema will adapt to being a super domestique. Knowing Mochema he will probably try to squeeze a 10th in GC just like Kreuziger did last year.
I would say this year it's very close between Froome, Valv, Porte, Bertie. The route is quite shit but seems like the shapes of the riders are very similar.
I'm gonna make a prediction of Valv 100% on the podium. Quintana rough season continues as Valv won't take any prisoners here. Pitiful.
Froome won't win this year. Valverde might win depending on how Porte and Bertie do. The stage 2 to Liege is just so fucking pointless by ASO. How do you manage to make a stage to Liege without any major hills is beyond me. Hopefully no crashes. What a fucking waste of Vosges as well. Possibly the most boring climb with La Planche des belles filles. Should be renamed to Col d'Stem |

Porte winner Critérium du Dauphiné, Froome 2, Valverde 3.
Froome winner of course Tour De France with 5 minutes, the others have not a chance, they fighting for second place. Porte 2, Quintana 3, Valverde 4, Chaves 5, Contador 6, Bardet 7, Aru 8, Martin 9, Fuglsang 10.

Yes Phil!
Good win for Sunweb, proving that they can win without Matthews or Dumoulin.

@Shonak I'm not trash talking Contador I'm just working from recent history, his best result in his last 5 Tour attempts was 4th (I'm excluding 2010 as his result was scrubbed) so it's not an odd thing to think that his Tour winning days are done. He is a great rider and if he stays upright then he can finish on the podium but I just don't see him winning the race, I just think he will find a couple of riders better than him. Now if you think that is trash talk then I don't think you know what trash talk is

It's because you carefully ignore the history behind his results.
2013 - he was shit, granted
2014 - he was awesome, crashed out
2015 - Giro double attempt failed
2016 - crashed again
You see the pattern, do you? Contador has once finished outside of Top 5 at le Tour and that was when he was super young. Why would he be happy/lucky with a Top 5? Then again, the guy won since his ban 3 GTs (one coming back from injury, one straight from the ban, and one in an double attempt who is still the biggest task in GT riding you can come up with..). So whatever result you list, you have to look at the background. That said, Contador has been competitive in stage races and GTs all the time so ppl stating he has no shot and should be lucky to Top 5, I just can't take those ppl serious and that's my take on it and I don't bother about more discussion on this matter really.

No, I am referring to Kreuziger who did, as I said, jack shit for Contador since 2013. Really, he has been useless and frankly this is also down to his bloodpass suspension so he missed out a long time there obviously but in the races that Contador and Kreuziger did together he was really not good for his GT leader and that's including stage 2 because Contador dropped that day in work of Sagan's stage win fyi. Not sure that is what a GT domestique is supposed to do, is it?
Well regardless, Kreuziger is surely not Top3 GT domestique in my opinion and hasn't been since 2013 and he won't be coming back to this lvl of 2013. That's just all opinions of course, mine and yours and that's ok. let's just keep it that.
Btw it is funny to hear about distributing the cakes to winner from you, who overhype every second youngster and give them credit for something that can happen in the future.
This is you kidding me now, right? Because even you must understand, since you know me personally, that most of this is just for the lulz, right?

Contador`s problem is that he just one human! Froome and all the other Team Sky riders are robots in the Tour.
