This isn't about Sky, that's just what cycling is like now. No serious contenders have ridden like that for years now (maybe Andy Schleck was the last one and you could make a case that Nibali sometimes tries it). If Sky weren't there, someone would just be tapping out a pace.
I was more thinking about the likes of Bardet and Barguil who aren't the top GC contenders but with a stage win up for grabs would definitely be on the attack if they could, but yes, it is a depressing trend.
I still think they wouldn't attack unless they had lost time already. This would have been a good time for Pinot for example if he hadn't been in the break.
I don't know if it is depressing. If anything it shows that we are in a less drug-fueled period. No all day attacking for us any more.

Meh this race profile was never going to be exciting. A long and not technical descent to the end, high temperatures ensuring everyone is exhausted, and too early in the race to encourage attacks.
Tomorrow should be much better than this.
