Only one race during our first month, but we did fine. The Young Rider Classification Marco won in New Zealand was a very pleasant reward to finish January.
We hope to see you all again in Mexico, for the Vuelta a Chiapas. The race preview and team roster will be up soon.

'This will be a completely different race. We have HC climbs, cobbles and of course we are up against WT riders here. Amongst others Cancellara, Kittel and Nibali will start their season here. A stage win, the KoM jersey or a nice breakaway can be considered as possible / attainable goals in Mexico.
Konrad and Mendes will try to get a good result in the mountainous stage and we're also very eager to sea how youngster Belmonte will perform in the time trial.'

CHIAPAS | PRE-RACE DAY
Not only training for us on the last day before the race. A few days ago, this plane had taken us from Lisbon and via Mexico City to the Ángel Albino Corzo International Airport in Chiapa de Corzo.
We had a short last training ride this morning, during which we had a great view on the natural beauty in this region in Southern Mexico
After a group lunch in a local restaurant...,
we crossed the Puente de Chiapas or Chiapas Bridge by bus. This bridge is over a kilometer in length and spans the beautiful Río Grijalva or Grijalva River.
A few hours later, we arrived at the beautiful Mayan ruins of Palenque. The city flourished in the 7th century and became known in Europe after the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century. We had a great walk through the ancient palaces and past several tombs.
The bus took us to the lovely city of Tapachula, where tomorrow's stage will start and finish. See you guys then!

Some beautiful scenes, this is an amazing start to the season and more importantly, story!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

STAGE 1 | TAPACHULA - TAPACHULA | 96 KM
Today brings us an on paper boring flat stage. Under a bright sun, Stepniak and Dernies attack together to form the BOTD.
The intermediate sprint is easily won by Stepniak, but neither him nor Dernies will even come close to the stage win.
As expected, Kittel is way too strong for the other sprinters. Rowe and Markus finish on the podium, Lloyd finishes in 10th place.

Lloyd did great to grab a top 10 finish against all those strong riders. We also had Baptiste in 12th so we should really be happy with today’s performance.

STAGE 2 | TONALÁ - TUXTLA | 158 KM
Maxim is the first to attack,..
... and he is soon joined by Gérard and Bandiera.
Maxim also wins the first two KoM sprints, which earns him the right to wear the matching jersey tomorrow!
Still before the cobbled section, the original BOTD is reinforced by Ballan, Rast, Cancellara, Scarponi and Hoogerland.
We still have Maxim in this group.
The cobbled section and the last hill turn out to be meaningless as the whole group is reeled in in the descent towards the finish.
Kittel is once again the best, but we're delighted to see he's immediately followed by Lloyd!
