What an awesome day at the bike race, just as hoped for in earlier post .
Days to come will be super exciting now though with 16 riders still within a minute; the TT has really closed up the GC. Will be on tenderhooks to see how the lads play the strategy on the road. The mountain stage will be key, but I also forsee that the follow up hilly stage with summit finish will also play a part, and is better suited to my puncheur contingent.
At least this indicates the hours spent scouring the database, and wheeler-dealing during transfer period were worthwhile - my 2nd tier riders will form the backbone of overall success or failure for the season.
Final shout-out - the South American project that is Grupo Nutresa may have required a United Nations based core, but the South American contingent is benefitting, with 2 homeboy Colombians and a Bolivian filling the top 3 .
Final, final shout-out, love Ibanez's national jersey even more now that seeing it in action:

What a great stage for the team! When I first saw the detailed preview on the first page I knew Cruz had a chance against anybody in a flat TT, and he delivers our second stage win this season.
Rosskopf is the surprise for us, to be honest. Only 2" down on Cruz, and with that performance it moves him up to a top 10 GC. No doubt his support stats were very important.
Nice haul of points today, probably more than our whole season I'm guessing.

Wow things seem to be coming in three's down in Argentina.
Really good state of affairs for Nutresa - can they keep it together somehow? Or will it blow itself apart.

An okish De Greef again, his solid top 20 finishes get him a good GC. Let's see what he can do tomorrow
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

That was kind of weird.. I hope that Sayar can make the jump into the top 10 in the coming stage.
A shame that Siam Cement missed the first breakaway that was successful. |

Great race by Vosekalns. in every classement he is in a good position and especially in KoM he sits in an excellent position.
Great podium on the stage and great point scoring when comparing the outcome with my aims.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Spectacularly bad stage for us, with both Fumic and Schwab losing all their GC chances. If the season continues like that for, boy oh boy, we're in trouble.

Cant see how Kulhavi did nothing on a stage like this, could climbed into the top 10 easily. Still a great race for us if Castano can keep up.

A great stage, there was more than enough action for you to report there Tsmoha, really enjoyed it.
I was thrilled to see Castano and Nicacio work together throughout the last 20 km, so the GC battle should be between them now.

Godoy makes his team even more happy (6th, + 1.13), given that he could be one of the strongest in tomorrow's hilly stage.
Godoy is yet to put in a real good performance for us yet, the GC could be his if he puts in a major attack!!
@ devforever - You can't really complain about the situation, I would have liked Paulinho to have been up there in the GC aswell, but given the fact Schwab (a potential GC winner) lost big time, we have to count out blessings.
Thank goodness, for Bonsucro's sake, that Scorchio's birthday isn't everyday! |

Nice to see Affonso in the break again trying to forage for more KoM points but rather disappointed with Orozco tbh thought he would do better than that. Not been a great tour for us, and it's not really going to improve in the last two stages.

Disappointed that we lost time, but a Top 10 is fine.

Nice that Ospina got into the break for us, but he's not really one of the best at the mountains, so expected him to be dropped. He still finished with a decent placing.
A little unfortunate there that Rosskopf was not able to follow the large group. Then again, he's better on the short, steep sections so I could understand it. Unfortunately he's now dropped outside the top 10. Will be interested to see how tough the next stage is.

Wow, an awesome stage. Proper plane-crash in the bunch on the mountain, riders scattered everywhere!
Happy that Beltran protected his own high GC standing, as Valencia and Ibanez were always going to struggle in this company on such a steep mountain. All the same the gaps were epic! Perhaps they can get some revenge on the hill top finish tomorrow? Will be intersting to see if Beltran and the other strongest puncheurs like Godoy try to put some of the more mountain focussed guys well placed on GC in difficulty, or if we'll get a damp squib.
All our team talks and pre-season meetings and strategising seems to have hit home too - nice work to get Tatarinov in the break to avoid having to sit on the front all day long. Gennadiy did an excellent job in hanging on to mop up a good stage finish, contributing significantly to maintaining our welcome lead in the team GC. Roll on the next stage!

Two wins in a row and it was another great one for Euskaltel. Menchov you beauty. Also a much better effort from Jeannesson in 9th and not bad from Adamou now in 7th. And now the best team as well. Should get a good points haul after 4 horrible stages.
That celebration...
