Interesting to see Alaphilippe available under the right circumstances...
I'm not sure if I have anyone remotely interesting to you for a swap, but he'll definitely be on my extended targets list now, although receiving our budget will answer many questions already regarding how much money we can even spend on transfers (and any rider involved in a swap is lost money elsewhere ).
Grosu of course will be the bane of Demare next season, -1 FL -2 HIL +-0 SP.
I hope we can split up enough race days over the calendar to not have them meet too often, but with a possibly smaller season next year, this could be a decisive part of how both of us will do in the rankings in the end.
Seeing that you don't plan on loaning out Zmorka and Grosu, you're trying to go for promotion and hope for a GT wildcard I assume?
Well, you have at least two riders very high on my list, Metinvest is not just eastern europe and we lack a climbing talent, but i doubt those are for sale, so we will see.
Believe me, i will try to avoid Demare as much as i can, because he can make Grosu very sad in majority of races.
Both Zmorka and Grosu are Avenir eligible also neyt year, so those 20XP should help them massively, to reach max with HC races + some PT wildcard which should not need to be GT, but i need some more calculations to be sure.

Sounds like Bongiorno
I wish there was a legal way to address the race planning issue per PM, but I'm pretty sure that would mean goodbye ManGame...
True, I didn't factor in Avenir yet (well, guess why ).
Indeed if they start the season around 4.80 already adding Avenir, they should be as easily to max out as Demare/Bongiorno/Daniel for me.

@Cio: Sounds like..i cant tell you, but we know you are good at guessing.
That would be horrible rule violation indeed, so we can just guess and wait now.
Metinvest extends for 2 more years!
It seems like ages since the time when steel company CEO and cycling lover Ruslan Popov came with an idea to create unique cycling project based in Ukraine, together with his friend and former elite cyclist, Serhiy Honchar.
The contract leading to creation of Metinvest-Slovnaft (back then in D2) was signed or three years, which means that it runs to the end just now, after the end of 2014 season. During these three years, our cycling team continued to work on three basic goals that were set back in 2012.
1. Consistently improve level of Ukrainian cycling and also cycling in other eastern european countries.
2. Strengten the team, so it will look like PT promotion candidate by the end of 2014. Show our colours in PT wildcards.
3. Expand new markets and look for the co-sponsors in other regions.
Recent meeting of Honchar and Popov in Kiyv was revolving around these goals and how successful Metinvest cycling team was in achieving them. We can confirm, that Ruslan Popov made clear, that he feels like this cycling team is on its best way to meet all the goals and we can oficially confirm that sponsoring will be extended for two more years, so at least till end of 2016 cycling season.
Popov is especially proud on number of promising youngsters that are coming through the ranks and are almost ready to lead the team. Majority of them are from Ukraine, joined by likes of Tanovitchii from Moldavia or Metinvest brightest future star Grosu from Romania.
Despite being not very happy with team's results in first half of the year, Metinvest CEO and rest of the board are coming delighted from recent run of success for the team. We cannot speculate about their trust in case of worse second part of the season, but rest assured that summer and early autumn results made their decisioning easier.
Emirates unsure about future sponsoring
Team's secondary sponsor, worldwide airlines Emirates are also in process of evaluating their cooperation with Metinvest cycling team. Contract is running out together with end of the 2014 season and while results show some promise, Emirates were most likely expecting faster way to the highest division and also bigger involvment of middle-eastern riders.
Emirates are also rumoured to be concerned about seemingly increasing influence of italian minor sponsor Gruppo Lucchini and clear italian side-focus of Metinvest-Emirates team.
We should here more about the matter in next few weeks, so stay tuned!

Good to see Metinvest staying. Already saved in my mobile's dictionary, so it's always nice to have some consistency around
Hoffman coming back close to his 2013 shape may indeed help you to Top-10 the PCT this year. And it's still wide open how many teams will go up eventually

@tsmoha: Good to hear that mate, i am so beloved and used to Metinvest that i will probably never change it, but lets see in two seasons. It is simply a cycling passion project of wealthy men, so if they dont run out of money or get fed up with us, we are cool.
Nolan is really trying to echo his superstar performances from last year, but this time a bit lower with "just" podiums, but still it is great rejuvation after poor first half of the year for him and rest of team.
Dont even tease me with possible promotion, because i see like 5-8 very inactive managers in PT, but dont want to look selfish if i would ask how many spots it can be and not last, we are probably not ready for it. But it would be cool to have a chance to max my talents just alone, as i have shitload of unmaxed lvl3s and 4s.But i want that one year in PCT without Oz.
@coolrex: hey, welcome to our HQ thread, good to see some new faces and possibly fans around.
Good question, the goals 1 and 3 should stay the same, but point 2 was actually changed to "promote to PT in either 2015 or 2016, or you are in trouble". Or something like that.

Hmm, I thought Milka would sponsor my team forever too, but then almost unthinkable happened.
It will be interesting to find out who is going to be the other sponsor of your team. It would be cool for me to keep the focus of your team mainly in Eastern Europe as you have a really nice core of riders from there. Whatever happens with your sponsors, hopefully we will meet in PT sooner than later, the PT really deserves to have more active managers than now.

@: Yeah, but Metinvest is not just a sponsor, team lives and dies with this company.
Our focus will be always eastern europe, so sponsors we negotiate with come from this area too. And we have also our italian minor sponsor, that could step into a bigger role, we will keep all fans and managers informed.
Roster thoughts, pre-renewals
End of the 2014 cycling season is not far away and we at Metinvest already held a first session of talks with riders. We have spoken with every rider, about his season, his ambitions and his future in the ukrainian cycling project.
After evaluation of this pep talks and riders results in year 2014, we came to several conclusions, however nothing is sure and there is still lot of thinking ahead of the management. Season is still not over, so that can also influence the decisioning process.
With all that said, Metinvest board and team management are both happy with core of riders that were put together. So main goal of the transfers will probably be completing this core with enough strong domestiques and maybe a change on one leader position.
But as it stands now, these are the statuses of our riders for the off-season and next year:
Who knows, but will be renewed for sure
Jaroslav Popovych
Nolan Hoffman
Julian Alaphilippe
Emils Liepins

Looking for a PT loan

The fight for Alaphillipe will be enjoyable to observe, and could Hoffman be going to an African team? Love that bunch of Ukranians combined with the random Eastern Europeans, makes for a very nice team identity

@TMM: Thanks Manx, nice to hear that from manager that professes the same values when building a team, even more when we are both from same (but extra large) region.
Hoffman is currently category on his own, as he would be still very valuable for us, we will see. With Julian, i hope that managers will not be scared by others possibly interested, resulting in 0 interest. But in the end, staying in Metinvest is also a possibility for him, we can use him well in the future.

Nolan Hoffman
*takes note*
I'd like Hoffman and according to my planning, he's within the realm of possibility. It's between him and Van Heerden - the deciding factor will be if one of them is SA Champ. Both will be awesome at CT level.

@fjhoekie: He will still be slightly better than Topchanyuk! (in some stats)
We will find use for him still if nobody would be super-interested.
@Aidan: Hi mate, Hoffman (or JvH) would probably destroy CT, yes.
Nolan has place in my hearth as my favourite MG rider after all what he did for Metinvest,so future will tell.
Btw. are you still making jerseys?
EDIT: Just saw your thread on the first page and read the last post, so i will work on my request and contact you via PM, there is no hurry for me, so good luck with school and your career, those are more important!
Also not a best thread to say it, but you are awesome, with that results at your nationals, keep going strong mate!
@coolrex: With released i meant not offered a new contract during renewals, so they will be in free agency.
And i have already done my development post, on page 4.

Nice to see Metinvest staying as sponsor and interesting to see some of the riders not staying for sure. Unfortunately, they aren't really in my regional focus but I'm sure you'll have interest from other managers.

@Valv: thanks mate, we dont plan any roster revolution, but it is maybe time to check out some older parts of the machine and start replacing them with modern ones.
@tsmoha: That is strange, maybe that was some other rider in Haijun's disguise, because real one is happy at Metinvest and is actually looking forward to ride in TTT train not forced to face Oz TTT monster.
But there is always a chance that similar rider goes to Metinvest and he is not so needed, time will tell...

Vadim Ratiy - ideal man for Metinvest?
Hello all the cycling fans, here is Alexader Pitin, reporter of Kiyv post, sports editing section. It is quite some time we brought you some info about currently best cycling team in Ukraine, Metinvest-Emirates. All of you probably know how their 2014 season in PCT is going, this article have another purpose, as transfer season in cycling is coming soon.
Vadim Ratiy at Vuelta al Tachira 2011 in white jersey and shorts of his former team VW-Siemens
It is no secret nor a surprise that best stage racer in Ukraine cycling history, Jaroslav Popovych (currently riding for Metinvest) is not getting any younger. His results have worsing tendency, but that is only natural in his age and despite that, he still achieved a GC podium at HC race Volta a Portugal this year. He will be always in our hearts, as in all hearts of cycling fans around the world. For now, it is hard to speculate if Popovych will remain in Metinvest colours for 2015, but we can be sure that he would have a hard time in reproducing his former role and results.
Reality tells us, that cyling team cannot be run with sentiment and that brings us to the question of possible replacement of Popo as Metinvest's main stage racer and climber for years to come. Wit that said, it would be hard to overlook Festina rider and in eyes of many Popo's successor Vadim Ratiy. Metinvest manager Serhiy Honchar is a big fan of Vadim, as several sources have reported in the past.
Whoever likes to connect the dots, can see Vadim as ideal purchase for Metinvest-Emirates, as they can use a stage racing leader now and one of the best ukrainian riders in the whole peloton would be the logical step into right direction. We are yet to hear from managers of both teams, if this is actually the plan, or only a logical construction. We will inform you in case of any news on the matter, so stay tuned!

Emirates quits and new co-sponsor found!
Few weeks ago, we at Metinvest informed our fans and whole cycling public about possiblity of parting ways with our co-sponsor Emirates and now it becomes reality! Emirates were strongly oriented to immediate success and that was not the case, nor our ultimate goal, so the partnership has to be cancelled, or rather not renewed.
We would like to thank Emirates for two years of partnership, which saw us rising from CT to better half of PCT. Their financial and logistical support was very helpful and smooth, so we wish them good luck in future supporting of the sport, whichever type of sport it will be.
With Emirates stepping down and Metinvest financially not strong enough to afford running its own cycling team, it was only a question of time before new co-sponsor had to be found and announced. Fortunately we found a strong partner in certain company from Romania, so we can happily announce our new co-sponsor, famous car producer Dacia!
Why Romania, you may ask? Because our main focus is of course on Eastern European cycling and romanian talent Eduard Grosu is becoming one of the faces of our team. We see Grosu as the main Metinvest force for the future and cooperating with strong romanian company is logical step to promoting his talent and helping him to develop into future star.
Closer details on the cooperation cannot be made public, but Dacia will have important place on our jersey reserved and contract was signed for one year, with two year Dacia option.
So welcome team Metinvest-Dacia, 2015 eastern european force in the world of cycling!

This is a really exciting sponsor change. I hopw you can sign some more Romanian riders and develop that country as well. Good luck with your East European project |
