Really nice idea about your team focus on only specific nations. I am trying to go the quite same way in the last few seasons, but it is harder in MG reality than on the paper. It should be easier to do it in France, as there are a lot more quality riders and Sri Lanka, where probably nobody will try to overbid you a lot, but from my experience, it is not an easy job to make it in Czechia/Slovakia even with added preference of New Zealand and Australia. The real problem are IMO the team leaders, when I try to keep my team really competitive, it is impossible for me to look only after Czechs and Slovaks. I fear you will have a similar problem, but it is still nice to see you will at least trying to do it. Can't wait to watch how you are doing in the off-season! Smile

Thanks Roman! As you say, it'll be difficult to create a massively competitive team with a narrow focus, but I'm optimistic. Gautier, Elissonde and Petit are pretty good for this level and while I'll never have a Sicard or Coppel there are plenty of decent riders around. Unfortunately I won't be able to fund a bidding war on one of your riders this season Pfft

It's good to see more teams going down this route though. I missed TMM's post last night (sorry about that Pfft), but I've been inspired by his idea as well as others such as Roman, SotD with Greece and SN with Africa to name a few Smile

It's great to see another team trying to narrow it's focus. There's already a few teams proving you can do it and still be competitive. (I always think of Oz and Meiji as examples) And even if you can't sign the likes of sicard you can always try training someone to that level once you've got the majority of your squad sorted.

2015 Sponsorship Announcement: Part 2

A few months back we announced the details of a major sponsorship package from Sri Lanka that would be coming on board for next season. Today, we announce the French co-sponsor that is joining our Sri Lankan sponsors as part of the program next season. It is with great pleasure that I announce that Pernod Ricard will be sponsoring us next season alongside the previously announced Sri Lankan sponsors, and the returning equipment sponsors of Look, Peugeot and Le Coq Sportif.

With Pernod Ricard on board, we are able to continue our French focus alongside our investment in Sri Lanka. The deal is on a year to year basis, as long as both sides wish for it to be. Pernod Ricard already have associations with some of our Sri Lankan sponsors - mainly Aitken Spence - so it's a deal that makes sense for everyone.

Now, for a quick word on our current season. The last couple of months have been absolutely abysmal and nowhere near good enough. We failed a goal and just straight up sucked in a lot of other races. But we have a plan to turn it around, and in that plan there is a part about next year's transfer targets. As I have already stated we will be purely French and Sri Lankan next season, so our first draft of targets are based on that. Of course we'd love a Romain Sicard but realistically, these are the men currently at the top of our shortlist, alongside whatever French talents become available:

Thibaut Pinot
Anthony Roux
Arthur Vichot
Emilien Viennet
Morgan Kneisky
Michel Sibilla
Jocelyn Bar

Possibly, but I'd be more interested if he went to free agency and got a stats update. You know you want to Pfft

I'll keep him then Wink

Goals Recap and Transfer Plans

WIN Post Danmark Rundt (HC) - 3rd, Kai Reus
WIN Isle of Man TT (C1) - 8th, Kai Reus
TOP 5 Tour of Britain (HC) - TBD, Gautier/Reus
TOP 5 Olympia's Tour (C1) - 3rd, Kai Reus
TOP 10 PCT Team Standings - TBD, Projected 10th

Not the worst record of attainment, with 1 success, 1 near miss in a HC race goal and then the nightmare that was the Isle of Man TT where Reus completely underperformed to the tune of around 5 places. As for the two remaining goals, both are achievable. The Tour of Britain suits Reus if it's not overly selective and Gautier if it is, while the standings goal is helped by our filler races being over after the Baltic Chain Tour.

Now onto the fates of our current riders. I've split them into 4 groups, detailed below:

Definitely Staying

Kenny Elissonde
Cyril Gautier
Adrien Petit
Ishan Sandakelum
Dane Steve Nugara
Laxmen Wijerathna

The three young Frenchmen are expected to be the core of our team for many years to come, and currently they're irreplaceable. No matter how much is offered, those 3 are off the table. The three Sri Lankans will stay as we aim to become more Sri Lankan overall. Currently they're among the best options, and as long as that lasts they'll ride for us.

Available for the right offer

Jocelin Maillet
Yoann Bagot

Neither rider is transfer listed, but if the price is right then they are available. Put simply, we see better alternatives out there but don't want to change what we have unless those alternatives are available.

Transfer Listed

Daniel Ricardo Diaz
Alessandro Proni
René Mandri
Kai Reus
Piotr Mazur
Roy Goldstein
Sébastien Turgot
Heinrich Haussler
Andrea Guardini
Blaise Sonnery
Mustafa Carsi
Maani Altanzul

All the aforementioned riders except Turgot and Sonnery are for sale as they don't fit our nationality focus. Turgot and Sonnery, while French, are too old to fit in with our focus, so are therefore also expected to be sold.

Released

John Gadret

Gadret is a French legend, but decline has hit him hard and it's time for us to let him go. We could renew him, but feel it's not worth it just to search for a negligible fee.

Thanks to jt1109 for the concept and layout

Guardini, hmmm, that could be easily our biggest transfer season target. Cool
I'll be back

jt1109
Some riders are of interest Mandri probably tops the list so we could be in touch during the window.Smile

Guardini has one podium and another top5 for me this season.
Seeing he is 80/82 next year, he surely looks interesting for any (new) Italian focused team.

You more or less let go all your leaders but Gautier. Interested how your squad looks like in the end. In especially when having a strict national limitation.

fjhoekie
Lots of riders subjected to leave, nice to see you'll try to regionalise your team Smile

Mazur could be an interesting rider for my team, so I guess we can have some talks in the off-season.

*Shakes fist at your transfertargets* Smile

Some of your riders are of some interest to me. If Roy Goldstein goes to level 3, then he is interesting, if only level 2, then he isn't. Daniel Ricardo Diaz might be interesting to us, depending on the intake of french talents this season, and finally Maillet will be interesting, if he drops something like 100K in wages Smile

The problems regarding another french team is obvious, the gains are hopefully that we can help eachother develop them faster Smile

@Avin: Good to hear. You know where to find me. Wink

@jt1109: Mandri is a great domestique at this level, I expect a lot of interest. You have some French riders who could be of interest to me also Smile

@roturn: Thought you'd be interested in retaining Guardini Wink with my confirmed interest in Roux I'm sure we will talk further in a few months time when transfers begin. Actually think my squad will be slightly stronger overall, but without the big name leaders.

@fjhoekie: Thanks! Smile sure we will discuss it then.

@SotD: To be fair, none of my transfer targets are either a) PT leaders or b) better than the French riders you have, be they talents or maxed out Pfft

Goldstein has reached Level 3 - as have Altanzul and Carsi - and Diaz has reached Level 4. As for Maillet, I'd hope his wages drop to around the 100k mark but he did win a C1 race this season. Plus it would take a pretty good offer to make me want to sell Wink

You already know that I want Haussler, despite the poor season he is doing, I see in it the ideal replacement for Davis that will definitely leave my team.

Well, Altanzul is going to be on our 'shortlist', Mandri is going to be on our 'longlist', Goldstein likely makes our 'longlonglist'. Pfft By the way nice to see you are trying to make your team more French-Srilankian. By the way once again, thank you for developing Michael Boros for me in this season, he is going to be a decent helper one day. Smile

@fintas: Good to hear Smile I'm not sure what's going on with Haussler this season, he's been far poorer than I expected in sprints, hills and cobbles. Could just be PCM13 though.

@Roman: I think I may have to steal your terms there in future Pfft No need to thank me for developing Boroš, he's overperformed massively - 9th in a HC classic, 5th on a HC stage and many other impressive performances in Cobbled races. Should be a good rider for you in the future Smile

Luis Leon Sanchez
A certain Jocelin Maillet may have just appeared on our transfer targets list. We'll see what we can do there.
