Unsurprsingly for two kind of similar teams we have surprisingly similar targets in mind. If not same riders, very similar stat style riders Wink

4 of my riders, 5 of my targets. Looks like we'lldefinitely talk during transfers Wink

Love the new jersey as well, blue/yellow/white is a great combo in my unbiased opinion Pfft

As said in the little quote there are varying degrees of interest Wink plus I like his stat combo.

The end of season Rider Review

17th San Sebastian Classic
18th GP Onda Boavista

My Thoughts:

With Anderson he didn't really kick on from last year were he managed a win and this year he jus never really had a chance on his own and when he did like in he Tour of Britain he wasn't good enough to make a real result. Next year he will be staying with us and will continue his job as a super domestique hopefully on a cheaper wage then last year.Smile

My Thoughts:

Bellis continued a fine first season for us I can't have any complaints after a good first season getting around the amount of points expected and keeping the team up there in most races, if I had any complaint it's him being very trigger happy on hitting the attack button a bit too soon probably costing himself some wins along the way. For next season I want Bellis to stay he's been great and is at the moment just about getting a nice contract drawn up for next year.

My Thoughts:

He is still with us entering our 4th season but Christopher is walking a tightrope as to if he is going to stay or not, another blend season of nothing has seen him improve into a nice all-round punchuer which could see him earn another year with his one and only team so far.

None although in terms of the riders with no results he has been the best of the lot a really attacking rider who I feel will make a winning break very soon.

My Thoughts:

One of the riders I feel sorry for this year Alexis had a really great loan year with us but just didn't get a results to show for it for some reason though his 36 points do show he was a constent threat for the KOM competitions even if he didn't win one.

Hugo had a good start to the season but tailed of in the middle leading to a string of poor performances and then jumping back for the last race of the season to get a HC Classic top 10 in Japan he will probably be loaned next year or sold so he won't be in an RBC shirt for a bit.

Charles is a rider who basically came in at the start of the season to help with the project and devlop a rider with some potential if not the best in Canada, after Charles has come through his base year with us we are sure this will lead to him becoming a permanent fixture in the pro ranks for years to come.

Well well what a season by the vetern canadian powerhouse, I doubt many would expect him to take 2 stage race top 10's throughout the season but his brave attacking and detirmination proved many wrong as he gained two big results for his CV it is 50/50 at the moment though if he will spend next season at RBC.

My Thoughts:

After last season earning a couple of big results for the team this season was a bit of a letdown for Sebastian, he struggled to really make an impact in any race he enetered rarely even making the break, and for now at least it looks like he will be seeking a transfer to a team were he will have more oppurntunities to ride for himself.

My Thoughts:

Micheal had a nice first season with the team though it saw no major results his lead-out skills were showcased many times throughout the season and in the World Championship Road Race leading out Sam Bewley for a bronze medal, Michael would seem to be staying with us through this transfer window were we hope to come to an agreement for a wage reduction.

Romain has had a great year at RBC this season with him taking our first ever stage race win and another two stage wins plus a top 40 in the Overall Rankings, it's hard to argue that Romain underperformed at all. The team is looking into the possiblity of moving him on though this is not a priority to sell him if an offer came up in the teams best intrested he could go.

A review of the season from the teams perspective will be available some time next weekend

A very comprehensive review there. Wink

I remember covering that Vanderbiest GC win! If you can keep him he might well be one of the very top sprinters left in the pro-continental division with plenty moving on upwards. With Vanderbiest and Bellis carrying the team name so well, will a big name be coming in to alleviate the burden?

Was a fan of the jersey for this season but next seasons' one looks very stylish, will be good to race alongside it for a few kilometres. Smile

Yip, good review. Bellis and Vanderbiest did good service for you in 2014, securing another season in PCT, but will be interesting to see how you plan to evolve and progress, as the back-up was at best mediocre. The prodigal son returning from PT loan should definitely help out!

Good luck for the new season - RBC is one of those well run regionally focussed teams that I enjoy following.

Like last season i expect we'll be having quite a few talks during transfers. I spy 3 or 4 interesting names there.
Nice look back a good season for you!

I need a lead sprinter now I'm PT. You might be looking to move Vanderbiest on. It makes sense Wink

Well we have boily coming in which will help to lift some of the burden of our two biggest riders and give us hopefully another top 100 scorer(he managed that in PT so hopefully same back in PCT), really think we will be looking to add a leader on the cobbles this year to add to these three.

We should progress this year just because half of our squad has had a stats boost just that on it's own should make us stronger I think I said it earlier in the thread that our team average goes up 1 point without even making a transfer. The back-up is needed without giving to much away from whats coming in my team review, I basically started again last transfer season whereas this year I have a base i'm happy with. Thanks for the support

Like last season i expect we'll be having quite a few talks during transfers. I spy 3 or 4 interesting names there.
Nice look back a good season for you!

Yeah that's good to know i'm looking to shake up the team by removing some names i've kept there just because and improving some Canadians who could become good rider if just given a chance to go past level 1. From last season one of the biggest regrets I have is a transfer I made with you so hopefully I can be a bit smarter and less rash in my decisions next year.

I need a lead sprinter now I'm PT. You might be looking to move Vanderbiest on. It makes sense Wink

It makes sense but this is the man-game anything can happen Smile, you could end up spending 2.5 mil on coppel, then a 1.5 mil wage for Sicard then no room for RomainSmile

The End Of Season Team Review 2014

End of season 2013

To start last season we need to go back to before the season had even started and I will give everybody an insight with what I was thinking.

First of all way too many riders around 28 that was going to get cut down to nearer the 20 mark.

Secondly my two leaders were too old Roy was 30 and Gadret 34, i'd realsied that last season i'd not planned for the future well at all I'd picked out around 15-17 rider from the squad I'd keep during the renewals and then I would re-plan

Lastly the french market is getting overcrowded better time as any to get out and focus solely on my Canadians

Transfer Window

If any new managers for this season would like to see how hard it is to predict a transfer season then look above this was the shortlist (not the long list) of riders I thought I could at least try and get for the upcoming season I ended up with 4 of them. And my biggest signing of the year come from the long-list I produced which I won't bore everyone with.

The transfer window started well for me as I remember Roy went early for a fair price of 500k Ivars around the same and I started to gain a decent pot of money which I hoped would land my number 1 target Ulissi, I think Boily loan deal was wrapped up quick and a bid was placed for Ulissi around 2 million, (at one point Sotd tried to get me to move my attention to Markus Fothen instead Wink the man spotted two pay days haha) but I had my heart set on a Punchuer. So waiting eventually Sotd came back and said he'd gone with an offer from Barcadi instead some expletives came out me and I started skipping through the DB after stupidly pinning all my goals on a Punchuer with good stamina.

Cue 20 mins of Panic until I just searched the db by Stamina and went ohh Bellis probably should message Roturn see if he is available about 20 minuets later deal done a strange end to my own little saga.

Other deals included my worst of the transfers Soupe to Boeing for 100k, not really sure what I was thinking probably just drained from everything else.

The signing of Gourgeard and Koch on loan with Boivon going in exchange for Koch and this all left me with around 400k to spend.

Which was first offered to Prio - Porto for Rodrigues and then swapped to Machado not too sure if Rodrigues would of gone well in PCT all I know is Machado did okay and i'd of done better with a climber really.

In free agency I went big on Romain Vanderbiet for 560k, then added Mitch Docker and Micheal Torckler for 220k and 80k to get a little depth followed by talent buying, Warbesse, Cataford, Lane, Naud and Matte were all bought.

Misses included Vedel Kvist because of signing Bellis I ran out of money same with Vanoverschelde, Nooytens and Kenny Elissonde

looking back now this is probably when I should of realized I was light on talent for now and depth but the pre-season previews made me quite excited.

Predictions showed slight confidence in the team which it can now be seen was all misplaced.

We have 3 riders in the break in Japan including two of our young riders Houle and Lane.

Young Rider of The Season:

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/Pierrick-Naud-2012_zpsabc89d7c.jpeg

Patrick Naud

A award at the start of the season I thought Hugo Houle would be a shoe in for but this was actually a close run award between, Houle,Naud and Cataford with the man in the middle coming out on top thanks to his race saving performance at Tour de Beauce a home race for us, he also managed a good 2nd place on a stage in the Tour of Czech Republic whilst also being a good teammate through the season a well deserved winner.

Rider of the Season:

i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq337/jt1109jt1109/romain-vanderbiest-150x150_zpsd8b73df3.jpg

Romain Vanderbiest

A super close run award between Romain and Johnny Bellis, Romain ended up taking the award thanks to winning our first ever stage race. Romain's win not only being our first stage race win also came at a time when Morale was low, the team was in the relegation zone and this was the catalyst to pushing us slightly up the rankings. His 26 top 10's 3 stage wins and all round consistent performance make him our man of the season big thanks Romain.

Win of the Season:

GP Plouay/Johnny Bellis

What a win this was of the 8 it is bar far the teams favourite, A flat classic with a brutal hill on the course the team set Johnny Bellis into a good position with two laps to go but what happened after was pure magic. Bellis kept kicking his way through groups and stranded riders hitting the break before riding them of his wheels leading to a win and also our favourite picture

For anyone who managed to read all that big thanks it was a week in the making and I hope you enjoy reading these views as much as I enjoy writing them.

Quickly big thanks to Deksel and KenL for our kit this year and all reporters for the races and finally SN for making such a brilliant and entertaining game thanks all.

See you at our new HQ next time I post.

Cheers for that one  Bargain with all things considered imo. We'll be coming back to try and bag a similarly good deal this time around Wink

Seems like all your no.1 targets being missed, did work out well for you as Bellis surely was a great addition for you.
Also good for me, that Nooytens was out of reach after the Bellis fee.

Scorchio
Another nice write-up JT. Given that we all exist in our own wee MG bubble, this sharing of thought processes and ideas definitely welcome!

Thanks Scorchio I just thought it would be nice to share how much change you go through in a man-game transfer window in terms of who you need to target which is why you need a 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th 6th plan if possible.

It's a complete bargain and utter lunatic move by me and I hope you won't be trying to keep my dignity this timeGrin

Yeah really happy with Bellis he's a long term solution now for sure, and yeah I think when I messaged Bjarnte he had no-bids and suddenly we both went in at the same time.
