Okay, saw the Vuelta route. Had a heart attack. Only one true montain finish (when I say true, it's without beeing ___________________/). And who the fuck had the brilliant idea of putting on the last stage a fantastic prologue of 10km's?

I count two, Stage 16 to La Farrapona and Stage 20 to Ancares. Haven't really had a good look at it yet but definitely looks much easier than 2013 and 2012. And 2011 come to think of it. And why can't the Vuelta people get it into their head that they need a long flat TT somewhere along the route? Instead of one that looks similar to last years (Pozzovivo for third place again anyone?) plus the ridiculous 10km one at the end which will only be justified if 1st and 2nd are within about 20s of each other.

Nibali will ride Ronde this year. Not sure it's a great idea, can't compare Ronde cobbles to Roubaix, however still should be fun Pfft

In order to prepare for the cobbled Tour stage?

Yes.

Guessing he chose Ronde over Roubaix because of the hills

Also much lower chance of crashing in general.

Roman Kreuziger announced his first months schedule, looks like Tour build up to me (but could be Giro too, with only 24 race days i expect maybe two GTs?). Smile

Tour of Oman
Strade Bianchi
Tirreno-Adriatico
MSR (interesting choice)
*high mountains build-up*
Ardennes classics
Tour de Romandie

That looks like a Tour build up for sure but you would think that if it was then something after Romandie would have been added so could be the Giro. Would like to see him lead at the Giro, he deserves the chance again after his Tour performance and Contador already picked as Tour leader then a crack at the Giro would be the logical step.

The thing with Kreuziger is, he has big problems handling the pressure of being the captain for his team. At last year's Tour, Contador took that pressure away from him - and all of a sudden he was better than ever before

That is true. He said many times he is working on it now, but we will see only in the actual big race, if it comes with age for him. That role on Tour last year was probably ideal for him, in this state.
He is still just 27,so has some still time left to learn it.

Classic Giro build up. I think he'll do the Giro-Tour double. Hopefully he'll lead at the Giro and I think he'll play super-domestique again at the Tour.

I agree fully with that but he is at a level where its time to prove he can lead, he had a great tour but i'm still unconvinced he is a true GT contender but it really is now or never I think for him to step up.

The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey have banned Torku from this year's edition of the race. They want to avoid a third consecutive doped winner.

No no no no no, Kreuziger simply can't lead at the Giro, that would be the most awful thing they could do, rob a possible Top 5 contender in Nico Roche his chance to lead a GT starting in Ireland, for a Top 3 contender who might fuck it up anyway.

I'm pretty sure Majka will be their main captain, not Roche

Yeah, like at the Vuelta...

Pellizotti2
Majka has been a pro for 3 years, and a leader for one. Expecting him to deliver at two GTs in one season (especially after that freezing Giro) is a bit steep, don't you think?

Moreover, the competition at the Vuelta wasn't that great apart from the top 4.

Yeah, like at the Vuelta...

Majka already led the team at Giro 2013, so Roche was their leader at Vuelta, Majka was done from tough season...
I think Nico will have his chances again at the Vuelta, that ___________/ is better for him than Majka. But Roche leading Saxo at Giro and being a top5 contender? Sorry, but cant see that happening, he is not a climber for Giro imo.

Edit. Somewhat Zabeled by Pelli...

Dippofix
I agree on Majka being too young to lead two GTs, but why not let him lead the Vuelta? Or let him go for Stage wins? And i wouldn't write off Nico for a Top 5, but we'll have to see. And also i'm quite sure both VeloNation and Cyclingnews reported Roche as TST's leader, but i'm not fully sure how reliable that could be.

issoisso
Roche said he's riding the Giro only because it goes through Ireland. Tour is his aim.

EDIT: Argos kit looks like Newcastle Pfft

Too much black and dark blue in the peloton. Please stop this dumb trend
