Rui Costa
André Cardoso
Tiago Machado
I don't believe they can compete for the win, but Rui Costa should get a good result. |

Surprised both Chavanel and Gallopin weren't selected as they seem like the best riders on this course for France. |

Gallopin expressed concerns about his current form and his ability to cope with the distance, so he declined it himself.
Coppel also was left out, for rather obvious reasons.
Chavanel is tired from a long season and will do TTT + ITT, which will take their toll.
The team is as decent as it could get, I think, though Geniez (who wasn't preselected) has shown more form than some of those riders lately, and can climb well. |

Oh well that explains it, still a shame though as I don't see any real contenders in their squad atm. |

And Nélson Oliveira and Tiago Machado for the time trial.
If Portugal could have 6 riders like the cycling monsters of Iran and Morocco and with José Mendes, Sérgio Paulinho and Bruno Pires all working for Costa maybe the result could be better.
Rui Costa just did 5th and 6th in Canada with no team mate on the last kms, so with Andre in great form and Machado who could be one of the best domestiques on GT, maybe a top 10 place is achievable. |

How many riders will ride for Austria in the race? Line-Up looks good so far. Would love to see Zoidl ride the race. Sad though that Rohregger won't race.

I wouldn't count on any of that. The TT podium is for Martin, Wiggins and Phinney, imo.
As for the road race, you're severely underestimating him. Top favourite along with Nibali in my opinion.
