Dude, it's not the first real mountain stage yet.
It's always the same in preliminary stages, the favorites let the smaller names have their day and save energy.
Monday we'll know who's really up for the Vuelta
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

First week? Maybe?
It's actually not but okay.
I know it's the first 'real' mountain stage this Vuelta, not counting stage 2. But these guys are so afraid to lose, they just can't win either.
I mean, Valverde and Rodriguez are just looking at each other, without even caring about the fact they lose 20 sec or something like that.
Guess I'm just upset because that wasn't my style of racing, when I was in the youth divisions, but then again, I didn't win that many races

Importantly Valverde moves ahead of Nibali and Purito is closer to Nibali now.
But who is Katusa's GC guy, Moreno or Purito.
Moreno can climb well but probably not quite well enough to ride for a GC podium. It is more likely that he has been given the first half of the race to stage hunt and will then work for Purito later on.
Of course Moreno could well be in super form and Purito could fade in which case things will change like Vlaverde/Quintana at the Tour.

Konig up to fifth in the General Classification now, 29" behind new Maillot Rojo (Red Jersey) Nicolas Roche. In some ways I reckon Nibali is probably happy to now be 18" seconds behind in the GC, now Astana don't have to chase every day.
After all what are the chances of Roche winning...

Great ride from Poldi there, nice to see one of my favourite riders win
Nibbles looked a little shaky there, interesting to see how he fares on Monday with a tougher climb
Great ride by König. Glad he won instead of wheelsucker Moreno, must have been nice to be in Basso's draft all the time.
Also suprisingly good by Bart de Clerq doing back-to-back GT's this well!
Valv/Rodriguez playing the waiting game again. Nibali showing signs of not being in the best shape yet.
Horner was strong but overeager.
Some Tour guys showed they were not in the same shape anymore, like Kreuziger and Mollema.
Looking forwards to tomorrow and monday. I hope Rodriguez and Valverde show if they are actually in form or not. But I'm afraid they all wait till angliru and other nasty 3rd week stages
