Your team is one of my favourite teams this year. Except for Efimkin not having the best riders and even he will suffer a lot this year in the hills.
But I think this happens if you change the teams focus. You should have asked for Valentin Iglinski. He could have helped you in some sprints I guess.
So wins like this one are always nice to see. |

I'm hoping we can get back the KoM lead, so don't think you got it wrapped up yet
Nice riding by Schelling as well, it was really close at the finish! |

Glad to hear that. I personally think it's a little "plastic", since the nationality isn't really connected to sponsors and riders as much as I'd like. I probably would've went with a different sponsor if I had got the idea of a Kazakh team earlier. Will try to turn the team more and more centered around there starting next year.
Would probably have enquired about Iglinski if I had any money left over. Failing completely in the renewals (Caruso) screwed up my original plans, so I just had to make the best out of it.
Efimkin will definitely be extremely important. I've sent him to a few races I think will be a little less contested, alongside some classics. Hopefully that'll work out well in terms of points.

I don't think so either. Would be great if Schelling pulled that off, but I doubt he'll do it. The big points are still ahead.

Look ahead: February
Here's a little preview of the races we'll participate in during the second month of the season. January has been fairly successful so far, and we hope to continue the trend.
01/02: Tour of South China Sea
Not at all a race that suits our squad, but it still felt worth taking part - given that it's part of the Asian Tour. Surprises can always happen. Our lineup is filled with youngsters, all using the race as an opportunity to gain experience from riding with the pros.
| Atkins, Josh | Free role | | Battaglin, Enrico | Free role | | Hepburn, Michael | Free role | | Hnik, Karel | Free role | | Holm, Bjørn Tore | Free role | | Manfredi, Andrea | Free role | | Senyenov, Roman | Free role |
22/02 - 25/02: Giro del Trentino
After a little break, we return to our most important race last year. Caruso took third in a very tough field, but is unlikely to repeat that this year.
With Caruso's decline and the expected tougher opposition in mind, we're hoping for an overall result somewhere inside the top 10. The higher up the better, but realistically somewhere near the bottom end seems possible.
| Atkins, Josh | Domestique (TTT) | | Caruso, Gianpaolo | Captain | | Clesen, Nick | Domestique (TTT) | | Gruzdev, Dmitri | Domestique (TTT) | | Hepburn, Michael | Domestique (TTT) | | Possoni, Moris | Domestique (climbs) | | Osella, Marco | Domestique (climbs) | | Schelling, Patrick | Domestique (climbs) |
28/02: Gisborne GP
Time for Efimkin to shine again as we return to the hills. The many kilometers of climbing in combination with the tough finale will likely suit him perfectly, so the expectations are pretty high.
Salerno and Taborre will also target own results, but will obviously help Efimkin if necessary. The dream scenario is a podium, plus three inside the top 15.
| Battaglin, Enrico | Domestique | | Efimkin, Aleksandr | Captain | | Holm, Bjørn Tore | Domestique | | Possoni, Moris | Domestique | | Salerno, Cristiano | Free role | | Senyenov, Roman | Domestique | | Taborre, Fabio | Free role |

Nice previews of your month ahead. Therell be a different Jaguar rider looking to beat Efimkin after Round 1 in TDU. And this one has a good record in New Zealand

Thanks, SN.
Froomey's presence was expected, so I'm not surprised. The rest of the division's top puncheurs should be there too.

I sent Gautier to Lugano instead, thinking that most of the best puncheurs will be at Gisborne. I also expect that Bellis will go to Lugano as that suits him much better.

Same here. Bellis should do better in Lugano. Still I had to be in NZ so Geschke has to try something. |

Such optimism cannot be tolerated 7 of the Top 12 puncheurs are in Gisborne. More importantly: 4 of the Top 5 are there.
@Miguel Did you seriously think C1 races would have weak fields?

All 12 aren't there at least. Every little stripe of good news is nice!

Good luck in February, we will meet only in Trentino top stage-racers showdown. Nice to see that majority of top punchers choose New Zeland over Lugano (makes surprise in Switzerland with our shitty punchers more possible).

Schelling and Galiev saves Tachira
The final stages didn't change much for Dyachenko and Osella, who both decided to stay calm and protect a minor GC result rather than trying to attack. That obviously didn't work out, but the race still ends up being pretty okay - thanks to the young duo Schelling and Galiev.
Both showed great spirit during the whole race, being active in breakaways on several occasions. After Schelling's stage win on the ninth race day, Galiev took place in the escape group the stage after.
After several attempts to shake his companions on the tough final climb, he tired a little and got dropped by Bintang's Ivan Seledkov. He didn't give up however, and found an own rhythm that just about allowed him to hold off a storming Marquez (HTC) for second.
Schelling meanwhile spent the day recovering from earlier efforts, and went on the move again the following stage. His fellow escapees luckily weren't interested in the mountain points, so the talented young man from Switzerland managed to collect enough of them to retake the lead in the classification and thus wrap up the victory due to no remaining sprints!
Galiev then featured in the breakaway again on the last day, but his group didn't get quite enough room to stay clear. He got caught on the very last lap of the circuit race, and ended up in 14th place.
We may not leave Venezuela and the Vuelta al Tachira with any GC result even worth mentioning, but we do leave with a stage win, a second place on a stage plus first and third place in the King of the Mountains classification!

No fun for us in Trentino this time around
A weakened Caruso went back to the race where he finished 3rd overall last year hoping for something slightly worse, but things didn't really go our way. A group including Yaroslav Popovych (Metinvest), Rein Taaramae (Bouygues), Timofey Kritskiy (Tinkoff), Robert Kiserlovski (Hollister), José Alarcon (Bintang) and Domenico Pozzovivo (Vespa) broke clear on stage two's final climb and distanced everyone else by several minutes.
The latter of those won the stage and later also the overall. Caruso lost almost five minutes down in 8th place, and all chances of repeating 2012's performance. On the positive side, we also had Osella in the same group.
From there, most things went the wrong way. A sneaky move from Osella near the end of stage 3 rewarded us with a second place that cheered up a little at least. The annoying thing was that the final two stages were nothing but a parade of ineffective attacks. No one managed to break clear of the peloton, which meant that barely any gaps formed at all.
We therefore couldn't do better than 11th and 13th in the overall standing, which is even below the rather low expectations. We can only hope for better selection in the other stage races.

Efimkin 2nd in close to perfect race
Once again headed by Efimkin, we've showed our strength on the hills, in Gisborne GP. A big attack up the slopes of the final climb from pre-race favourite Francesco Ginanni (Vespa) was covered by the aformentioned Efimkin and Chris Froome (Eritel). Other big names tried to close the gap, but it was too late for them already.
Ginanni led the front group all the way from the attacking point, and tailed off the other two in the difficult uphill sprint finish. A strong Efimkin beat Froome for second, with the peloton a little over half a minute down on them.
Meiji's Tommy Zaini led that group over the line. Inside it we had super domestique Taborre in 9th place, after a long day of working. Salerno also finished nicely down in 15th, thus accomplishing the dream scenario of having three riders in the top 15 and one on the podium. Only the victory was missing from this race!

Good race by Efimkin, hadn't expect him to beat Froome in the final sprint.
Important points aswell for your team in the Asia ranking.

A positive surprise for me as well, but I take it as revenge for TDU.
And indeed very important points. The non-European regional tours will be much more contested this year, so it's certainly a good thing.

Look ahead: March
We're already through February, so it's time for a little preview of the year's third month! We better get started right away, as there are four races to talk about.
03/03 - 12/03: Le Tour de Langkawi
First start in the new month will be another former goal race. This time there's less pressure from the sponsors, but we'd still like to avoid crashing out of the GC again. Especially considering that's more or less all we're there for.
The main focus is again on the GC, with the Dyachenko / Osella duo hopefully doing better than they managed in Tachira. Not much has been revealed regarding other starters so far, but we expect a tough challenge. Then there's also a ton of flat stages, where Vesely will try to find the Tachira form again. Lastly, we hope to be seen in many breakaways.
| Atkins, Josh | Domestique | | Dyachenko, Aleksandr | Co-captain | | Hepburn, Michael | Domestique | | Hnik, Karel | Domestique | | Osella, Marco | Co-captain | | Possoni, Moris | Domestique | | Vesely, Daniel | Sprinter |
08/03: Kenya Mountain Classic
Our most recent HC race, Trentino, did as you know not end up very well, but it's time for that to change now. "Just" a one-day race this time, but probably a more difficult parcours than any of the stages in Trentino.
We're sending a rather weak squad, with Caruso being the obvious spearhead. Reaching any notable result will be difficult judging by Trentino, but we hope for the best possible. Top 10 is most likely as high as we can get, at least with the field we expect to see lined up alongside us.
| Battaglin, Enrico | Domestique | | Caruso, Gianpaolo | Captain | | Galiev, Ulugbek | Domestique | | Gruzdev, Dmitri | Domestique | | Holm, Bjørn Tore | Domestique | | Manfredi, Andrea | Domestique | | Schelling, Patrick | Domestique | | Senyenov, Roman | Domestique |
25/03 - 31/03: Tour of Taiwan
Our first goal race this season, and we're looking for nothing less than the victory. With no less than four steep uphill finishes, it's a race for the toughest of puncheurs. Due to the many race days we might not see all the biggest names however.
One man who will be there for sure is Efimkin. Backed up by his usual luxury helper duo Taborre / Salerno, he'll try to accomplish the sponsors' expectations. It'll all come down to how selective the many final climbs are, and more importantly: whether the sprinters manage to hang on or not.
| Agostini, Stefano | Domestique | | Battaglin, Enrico | Domestique | | Efimkin, Aleksandr | Captain | | Holm, Bjørn Tore | Domestique | | Salerno, Cristiano | Free role | | Senyenov, Roman | Domestique | | Taborre, Fabio | Free role |
28/03 - 30/03: Corsica International
Similar to Down Under Classic, a race we perhaps shouldn't even have bothered to enter. It's likely to be hotly contested, and we're not sending a squad capable of challenging for any results. Even a breakaway victory would be a big surprise, as none of the stages really invite to long attacks.
Possoni is the most notable name in our B-class lineup. Some of our loaned in talents will get a chance to show themselves in a big race, but they'll probably find the competition very fierce. Getting points out of this race would be a big success.
| Atkins, Josh | Free role | | Clesen, Nick | Free role | | Galiev, Ulugbek | Free role | | Gruzdev, Dmitri | Free role | | Hnik, Karel | Free role | | Possoni, Moris | Captain | | Schelling, Patrick | Free role | | Vesely, Daniel | Free role |
