Nuyens looks great so far. Would be a close to perfect way to start the season if he could move up on the overall podium on the Willunga stage.

SweatyViking They'll be back, I just want to get done with TdU fast ( probably most played stage race ever in PCM ) and there weren't much to report from 2 flat stages.
roturn Indeed, hopefully Nuyens can grab some bonus seconds and move up to GC podium wchich would be nice set of points for us here. Cantwell really was loosing his bars in the last 5km so we couldn't even properly sprint with him, however his form is on rise and hopefully he'll produce at least one good sprint on last stage.
Pellizotti2 That's excatly what we are looking for, hopefully we can achieve that
sutty68 Yep, and we hope can improve at least one place

You see TDU everywhere in Story-section on PCM Daily
I agree that in sprint races, shorter reports are definitely better |

Tour Down Under - Stage 5
Snapper Point – Old Willunga Hill
The Queen stage of this year's Tour Down Under. The toughest stage in the history of the race. The battle for the GC will play out here and will most likely decide the winner. Lastras has shown superior form on the hills, with Bennati dominating the sprints - we should expect a fight for the win between those two today !
Today's six riders break co-operate quite well and have 5'50" minutes of advantage over the peleton with 60km to go.
Egoi Martinez and George Hincapie attack mid-way trough the stage, it's a dangerous attack and once that peleton will try to chase quite fast.
And it's up to RadioShack to do all the work today with Saxobank's and Movistar's riders lingering in the background, waiting for the right moment to strike.
It's Steve Chainel who collects full points 1st time over the Willunga hill and is now only 4 points behind Roberts, but the gap is less than a minute already, it looks like the break will have a hard time staying away today.
All the riders in the break are pushing it, but with every kilometre - its more unlikely they will make it. That's good news for Luke Roberts, as Chainel will probably not score any more points today in the king of mountain classification and so Luke will remain the leader.
5km to go and the peleton has break in full sight. It looks like all will decide on the ascent of the Willunga.
Morkov and Nuyens are placed at the front of the peleton as the climb begins, and it's Pablo Lastras showing great sign of strenght attacking with 3.5km to go and already opening quite a gap. Nuyens had no chance to even counter-attack the attack.
Lastras has 25 seconds on the bunch and will likely hold fast finishing Matthews to take the win and GC with the clear absence of Bennati near the front. It's a bunch sprint in the peleton though, so bit disappointing day in terms of gaps.
Pablo Lastras takes his 2nd vicotry in Down Under and with it the General Classifcation. Barring a disaster, he'll celebrate tomorrow around the streets of Adelaide. Matthews and Millar complete the podium, meanwhile Nuyens faded in last metres to keep 10th on the stage.

We may feel bit disappointed from today, but Willunga might have been just tad too long for Nuyens liking. He wasn't on his best day ( -1 ) but he did well enough, scored the Top 10 and more importantly kept his Top 5 in GC - wchich is what we came for to Australia - adding Morkov's decent GC placing and Luke Roberts close to securing KoM. We should come back from Down Under quite happy with ourselves.

I think it's a great result to make general top5 in TDU.
Lastras seems to be in good form, and not a sprinter Nuyens, so we appreciate his position.
Congratulations for the results and reports of the first race of the year.

Miguel98 Hopefully he will
dienblad Indeed, we gave a good try, and it's ideal prep for Nueyns classic campaign.
sutty68 Thanks, although doubtful as he's 16 secs behind Matthews, and the stage will likely end in a sprint. We'll be happy with Top 5 at the end
Ian Butler Indeed, Lastras is the man on fire so far.
PCM rulezz Isn't bad at all indeed
the_hoyle Thank you
tmobile Thanks very much, glad you're liking it Hopefully we can open our win account in Argentina and get those important WT points from Australia.
Stage 6 report will be up tomorrow afternoon, and San Luis presentation in the evening

Tour Down Under - Stage 6
Adelaide City Council Street Circuit
Stage 6 is the final stage of this year's Tour Down Under. At 90km, it's the shortest stage in the race. It's a fast paced critreium around Adelaide, the stage isn't too demanding and will end in bunch sprint. But who will take this last win is the question ?
Luke Roberts had to defend his jersey on the last day, as it was still not guaranteed - and he did just that. We're real happy with his efforts in Down Under, and I am sure the fans will be too.
Cantwell's has been feeling quite well today and with 7km to go we decided to join Bennati's wheel. He got blocked off by the Japanese champion, Beppu and we went down the pack, rather frustratingly, the effort to get back to front might cost Cantwell a chance of doing a decent sprint today.
With 4.5km to go we do get back to front - but for Cantwell it took a lot of effort, even following Bennati's wheel, as his energy level drop down.
2km to go and it's GreenEdge Alan Davis in perfect position on his team-mate wheel. Will he grab first victory of the season for GreenEdge's today ?
The answer is a definite no as he begins to fade in last 1km, Maxime Vantomme who rather invisibly stayed on Davis' wheel - accelerated past him and looks like the fastest finisher today, what a surprise victory that would be for the Belgian.
Graeme Brown produced one of the biggest acceleration's ever coming from several bike lengts behind in last 300 metres to possibly snatch a victory ? Maxime Vantomme is putting his hands in celebration, but was that a mistake ?
And it's indeed Graeme Brown who takes victory for Rabobank on the last stage of the Tour Down Under. Maxime Vantomme might be a bit embarssed... however he at least should be proud of victory celebration, it was a great one
Greame Brown and Maxime Vantomme's bonus seconds on today's stage bring them forward in the GC, taking 4th and 5th places respectively, and pushing Nuyens to a commendable, 6th place.

Well, bit unlucky to fall out of Top 5 in GC here, but 6th place at the end isn't too bad for our efforts here and we all appreciate the points. Luke Roberts did another good ride on securing that KoM jersey today, overall a pleasing result.
We hope we can continue in the same fashion in San Luis.

6th isn't bad, but more points would've been welcome |

JJ & LS Haedo highlight our squad here. There will be some pressure to win a stage with JJ, but we brought a team that can give him a lead-out and do something in the overall too.
Boaro & Mizyawa will help in the lead-out train for JJ alongside Lund whose job will be to protect Haedo on the flats and Jesus Hernandez in the mountains. Jesus is our only climber and will go for decent results here, however with a long-ish TT we don't have any expectations in GC.
