Now I try everything like FMC or FM but with classic tactics and both of them with the 2D mode..
How can I put up the run path arrows when converting tactics to classic tactics?
I tried everything but somehow I can't do those but taking them away.
Holding shift and hold right click won't do it as everytime I even click and hold it, a menu comes up and says "Go to Instructions".. Holding Control or Alt won't do anything. Do I have to set them up via the "new" tactics mode with attack/support/defend and then converting the tactic?
I can't decide which leagues to left out if I would decide to use the FMC mode.. 3 leagues are for me just a few as I have 5 must-have (playable) leagues: England, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Scotland, Portugal and Netherlands are "nice to have" but not that important.
I wonder if ignoring the 3D view and viewing it in 2D would change the way results are made..
In some forums I saw that the 2D engine seems to be much better but why should the 2D engine change the way how the engine works?
I mean both are just calculating a lot of numbers but at 3D you see how bad your player runs 2D is just a 2D dot not running..
At least FMC has a big plus Instant Results But you have to setup a game plan which is also a very big thought consuming stuff

I play with danish side AGF (my local team) and I play a quite successful 4-2-3-1 formation. I am performing above average in Europe, the league and the cup.

Im having the same trouble, Rin. Finding it quite hard, and its mostly due to weird errors my team does in the actual matches. Like not running for the ball and not going for headers at all, and instead letting it bounce past, allowing the pacy wingers to blast by them and take it in for a goal.

I still haven't found out how to create a decent/normal performing team.
I don't mean taking.. Southampton from the bottom of the league immediately at first winning every game but like FC Bayern performing more at the top rather then at the middle/bottom.
Somehow after a good start, any team I take suddenly starts after 10 games to crumble and falling down the league table.
Also I guess I will stick to the Bundesliga because at least I know the players there.. Even though I had more success when taking over foreign teams somehow.
With Suwon Bluewings (I have to take somehow adidas sponsored teams ) I had a very good start, not losing any friendly (playing away everytime) and having a good start at the league not losing in 10 games. Scoring a few goals but still more than my opponents.
After I somehow manage to f up the AFC Champions League qualifying stage losing against a Uzbek team in overtime, I was at the 2nd cup there.. I guess AFC Confederations Cup. As the teams are there somekind of awful I had great 3 games there but after I started to crumble at the league, it took over there not winning against these very weak sides..
There are still a lot of issues where I don't know if they will be fixed..
The players aren't anticipating that good like they should:
Defending or attacking players running away from the ball even they could get it and so leaving it to the opponents.
Wingers sometimes are taken as a prisoner on the side, standing with the ball, slowly turning with the ball, standing again with the ball and then passing it back. I can't understand why they don't try more often to outrun them or a trick or a one-two.
Can't set up a defense that good as a lot of times the marking is just awful and training defensive movement doesn't makes it better. Why does the central defender going wide even though the full back is there to take the opponent winger on? So he lets a big gap for the opponents striker to get in, taking the ball and scoring it.
the middle is even with the another central defender too much open for the poacher to get into there and scoring.
Anyone noticed (it happens too often at least in my games) the same opening after any kickoff?
The player passing it to the back and a long ball to the front going out at the opponents line for a goal kick. Even with short passing that happens. Even players with a weak passing stat tries them not having the "plays long balls often" attribute. Can't understand this.
Players clearing the ball to the back instead to the front or the sideline even though they could manage to do it.. So there are more corners from these clearances instead of goalkeeper saves.
I think a game should be made with "fun" at the very first position. And thats not fun somehow. I wouldn't like to have a unbeaten season everytime (like at X11 ) but the match engine seems sometimes unlogic and not very good to me.
It seems very much (not that good) scripted.
I have the feeling that lower league teams are performing much much more better than realistic.
When I see the results of the german cup and then at the german league it's just stupid that a division 1 team like.. Leverkusen or Wolfsburg or Hamburg are playing against these lower division teams (4th and under) are just playing like 0-3 (as the rule in german football is that "amateur" teams have the home right at the first rounds (until the 1/8 finals) whilst it would be the double amount of goals in average (and if the team is good and not rotated ir just with new players).
Also there are too few "upsets" as the first and second divison teams are always winning against the 4th and under divison teams. Haven't witnessed any first round upset yet.
And this continues at the friendlies somehow as they (lower divison teams) are too good. Never scored against these teams more than 2 goals in diffrence (even in goal galore games like 5-3 or so). I lose even some (not often but not seldom) games. Like against a 2nd divison austrian team that shouldn't be really any problem to a 1st division german team, not even to a 2nd german divison team.
I still try to understand this game, but I guess I would wait for a patch so I guess Anstoss (the german users will know it) will be now (again and again) played a bit more. Somehow it's weird that this series (2 and 3 were the best ones) was out 1997-2000 and it's still a lot more fun than the FIFA Manager (oh wonder!) and even the FM.. :S

I guess I have now a good save game where I haven't done any faults yet and I am in December.
I had written something but was logged out somehow and everythings gone so:
I guess you can't unlock anymore the Japanese national team?
Because deleting the Fake.inc file and looking ingame in the options ticking off the Fake box, just unlocks the German national team.
Is that here bad?
I made a customized database not edited but customized which players the game should load.
I have 47k and wanted actually to have 53k players loaded.
Playable leagues:
Germany down to the 3rd league.
France, Italy, Spain and England just down to the 2nd league.
View-only every other nation (just 1st league) but not the Asian ones except China, South Korea and Australia.
Customized:
Every continent:
Current international players, players from top clubs and players with continental reputation
Plus:
South America:
players from clubs in competitions
Europe:
players from clubs in competitions and players with national reputation
Country:
Japan:
Everything ticked on
The diffrence is 6.000 players and half of a star
2.5 to 2 stars, wouldn't go under 2 stars as otherwise the loading times are for me not very acceptable
So now to the (save) game itself:
I took (again) Leverkusen (adidas, I know the Bundesliga and it's the nearest Bundesliga club from my hometown) and it's looking ok/good.
I had 7 friendly games and plus 1 friendly game in as the 1st round cup game I had luck and had to play against a lower league (4th and under) felt like one (won 3-0 away). I won 3 and lost 4 of them but these were only friendlies.
I felt that training each category (not teamwork or tactics only) twice was the best preperation I tried from what I've seen over the FM forums like training everytime Teamwork at friendlies.
With Leverkusen I am currently 5th in the Bundesliga (24 points)
I won at the Bundesliga 7 games, drew 3 and lost 5.
Bayern is leading Schalke (both 30 points) and Dortmund (27 points)
Huntelaar the monster scores almost 1 goal per game.
I am still in the German Cup at the 3rd round (I won against Hannover away 5-0, that was a game) and I have to play against 3rd division Burghausen which is winnable I hope.
Here are the goals of the Hannover - Leverkusen game and I would suggest 1080p as otherwise you see just a puddle of colours.. Don't know if it's my fault but used the ingame function.
I managed to get into the final stage of the Europe League and I think this is the best campaign at the moment:
I won the group with 16 points: 5 wins and a draw against Napoli
Napoli 8, Ludogorets 7 and Heerenveen 3
I had 2 crazy games here winning twice in injury time:
The first one was the first game against Ludogorets when I rotated the squad as I played 2 days after against Bayern Munich.. Afterwards it was a bad idea as I got overrunned by Bayern at home 2-4.
I led the game until the 90th minute when Ludogorets scored the equalizer.
At the 91th minute I changed the playing style to overload and at the 93th minute (4 minute injury time) Kiesling scored:
I couldn't believe that goal
The last game against Heerenveen was the other game.
My team was already qualified after the 4th game and forgot to rotate at the 5th game so the 6th game was the rest game for a lot of first team players. I said to them they should enjoy that game and relax a bit.
They relaxed as quickly Heerenveen was 2-0 infront. Kiesling was again at the game and scored the 2-1 and at the last minute my 2nd row winger scored the 2-3 winner.
I am just a little bit worried about the finances..
I am losing every month around 2.2 million euros even though I haven't bought anyone (player or staff) plus loaned out around 5-6 not needed players (Reserves and U19) yes not that much but still at least a bit.
The financial status at the club information is insecure so I hope that the club won't be bought by someone (weird as Leverkusen is owned by Bayer)
I hope the finance projection of the season is right so at the end I would have made a profit of 28 million euros.
I guess it is like that as otherwise my "Financial control" bar at Overview - Profile wouldn't be 2/3 filled so it's more than decent.
My stats at the moment:
23 competative games
14 games won
4 games draw
5 games lost
47 goals for
31 goals against
At the other leagues a lot of weird stuff is going around..
Like QPR leading the Premier League
Genoa the Serie A
Lorient Ligue 1
St. Mirren the Scottish Premier League
Montpeillier relegating but advancing to the Knockout stage at the Champions League so I wait after the season to write something about that as it's really crazy at some leagues.

Lorient and Genoa leading Serie A have happened to me. Worst is that behind Genoa come Atalanta and... Torino?! This in 14 games. |

The first season ended and I am still with Leverkusen
Bundesliga
Got just 8th because of my tendency to ruin the last 1/3 of the season and I don't know why.
It wasn't enough for Europe
Got 54 goals for and 57 goals against like everytime at the beta when I finished a season, goal diffrence between +4 and -4..
After I saw that the last 1/3 of the season went like everytime not good, I decided to rest my players for the Cups.
Europe League
I beat Inter on aggregate 6-1 winning away 2-1 and at home 4-0
Inter was struggling at that time (14th at the League) but afterwards caught themselves to a 8th place.
But Liverpool afterwards at the quarterfinals were too strong lost 3-5 on aggregate
Weird enough that Liverpool fired Rodgers and hired Laurent Blance.. Who went on to win the Finals 2-1 against Benfica. Plus Suarez broke Klinsmanns UEFA Cup record with 16 goals.
DFB-Pokal (German Cup)
At least I managed to get here very far with the finals against Nürnberg (Final is played in Berlin) who knew that they are relegating as the final is after the leagues final game. I won 3-0 and managed to get Bayer their 2nd DFB-Pokal in their 109 year history.
So as I won the cup, I qualified for the Europe League. Would have been very weird if Nürnberg would have won it as they will be playing next year at the 2. Bundesliga.
Football Manager is very funny especially the interaction stuff like some managers saying stuff about you and it will lead into something. At FIFA Manager the managers aren't there with their names (Like Mancini or AVB or so) to there it's useless.
Because of the 2 million loss every month plus financial status insecure, it was very hard. Transfer embargo because of the takeover talks. And then suddenly the club was takenover after some months and I wasn't axed. Afterwards the last 1/3 of the season started and went from 4th to 7th. So I looked around where a manager was fired and thought "I will apply for a job at Sunderland".
The day afterwards the story was somehow leaked and I just had 2 options:
Step down or apologize.. I went for the last option^^
Sunderland just laughed off the application and went for Martin Jol.. I guess they will have it good at the Championship as Jol managed to take them even more down.
Just 3 league games before the Bundesliga ended the businessman offered me 1.1 million per year for 3 years and I took it.
At the end the weird league standings normalized like ManU won the Premier League or Bayern (same points as Schalke and overtook them at the last matchday) at the Bundesliga.
But Juventus winning the champions league against Real Madrid and Liverpool the Europe League against Benfica..
So.. I will apply for the North Korean national team manager job.. Maybe they will be answering Or a rival to FC Baku

If anyone is playing this and struggling to get a run of results together that doesn't read something along the lines of LDLLD then I found reading the first post of this thread from the SI forums really helpful and managed to turn my team around from a relefation fight to mid table and finishing about 15 points clear of the drop in half a season and have kept the same tactic and have started the following season well being in a 3 way tieat the top of the table on 11 points after the opening 5 games.
https://community....ing-the-ME
on an unrelated note I create extra competitions for the game. For example I've created the Campionato Sammarinese for both FM12 and FM13 and am currently testing a Fantasy Commonwealth Games footbal tournament for the under 23's and if anyone is interested then I can post them and any others I make on this thread.

I prefer starting with minor teams and trying to build them up. I've usually started with Barnet in nPower League 2, but I've become a bit tired of them and I needed a change. Therefor I've taken over SAS Epinal in the Championnat National and I'll try to build them up into a European powerhouse.
I had a good start in the pre-season friendlies with a loss 0-1 away against Lille and a 1-1 draw away against Bordeaux. Seems like a fun team to play with!

Tiny update on my save with Epinal.
Had a decent start to the season with one win and two draws, but then came four loses in a row. I had high confidence in my tactic so the only alteration I made was to set my poacher as a target man. All of a sudden, we have 5 straight wins and we have kept a clean sheet for the last 4 games.

Okay so I bought this on steam at 50% off not because I like football (never watched a full game in my life, always roll my eyes when others talk about it, etc), but because I want a proper management game.
So I may have played about 14 hours this weekend alone. It is absolutely amazing. I'm playing as Chesterfield (English nPower 2) and having a decent run at it. I'm 4 games straight without a defeat in the league though my second best striker being injured has meant that it is mostly draws. Finally, about 6 games into the season, I have just found out that my goalkeeper (also my team's best player, pretty much the best keeper in the division) is out for 2-3 months with a double hernia. Whhhhyyyyy?! I have a feeling that will be a huge setback for my plans to make promotion this season.

Good luck mate! Don't forget to feed yourself and don't forget your Man-Game team.
And expect some frustrating problems. The community is actually quite upset about FM13 and especially the match engine. It needs a few more patches to become better than FM12. But I guess we're also a bit spoiled; even with some problems FM is way better than any other management game.

Guys don´t know which team I should start with in my new save, only think I know is that I want to play with an English team.
Often looses my motivation after a while...
West Ham or Aston Villa? Anyone played with any of those two and thought it was fun?
I like Aston Villas strikers with Benteke and Weimann who can develop but their midfielders I don´t like at all.
And with West Ham it would many height ball on Carroll and Chamakh/Cole. |
