The Strade Bianchi is one of the most prestigious non-WT classics of the whole season. Only ridden since 2007, it quickly rose to stardom with it's beatiful white roads and finish on the famous Piazza del Campo in Siena. Favourites on today's hilly course are some Italian punchers like Callegarin, Pietropolli and Di Luca but we have to see what classic specialist like Boonen and Leukemans can do. Sorensen will go for a top 5.
A break of ten is formed early on. There are some strong riders in there like Boonen (Quick-Step), Marzano (Lampre) and Ovechkin (RusVelo) but they are given freedom for the pack.
Not for the long run though as they are caught by a 50-men strong first group with around 50 km to go. That is the sign for Vinther to attack. Nobody joins him.
When he passes under the 20 km banner, Vinther's advantage has rissen over 2'30. A good gap but the chase is only just getting organised.
Way too late it seems as with 5 kms to go, the domestiques could only lower the Dane's advantage to 2'. That is the sign for some favourites like Callegarin, Leukemans and Kessiakoff to attack.
There attack is way too late though as Vinther is crossing the line holding his arms up in the sky. Great win for the young rider who really shows his potential here.
Sorensen comes in as 5th behind Leukemans, Callegarin and Kessiakoff. The 5th place caps off a very good race for us.
Top 10
Well, an unexpected but very weldeserved win. Certainly welcome to the team also. Vinther is such a talented rider, wouldn't suprise me if he would win even more this season.

Le course au Soleil, or the race to the sun is one of the biggest one week races of the year. A lot of riderst start their season here hoping to shine in the Tour de France while the more classical types are here preparing Milano - San Remon and other classics. Some guys are here to win but they are not with our team. Paulinho will go for a top 10 overal but we will have to see how most rider's form is. Haedo will go for a good result in the flat stages while Kroon and Nuyens will try to get something out of a breakaway.

Paris - Nice: Stage 1
Paris Nice starts with an 8 km long prologue. Although the gaps won't be very big, the results will influence the final standings so Paulinho will go for a fast time. Favourites are two of the best tt'ers in the world Cancellara and Wiggins.
Paulinho had a good feeling on the bike and gave everything he could. His finishing time wasn't great though as he went too fast on the first hill. He will wear the KoM-jersey tomorrow though.
12'41
Wiggins was tipped as the onlyone who would be able to challenge Cancellara today. His time was rather disappointing and wouldn't give him the top spot.
12'20
His teammate Thomas did much better though and it looked like he was going to be the one challenging Cancellara.
12'06
Australian timetrial champion Evans starts his runn-up to a repeat today but he still has some work to do.
12'34
Thomas came close but beating Cancellara in these things is as good as impossible. 6" is not much but he was again the strongest.
12'00
Top 10
GC
Paulinho's time was not very special but we can't say it was bad. Longer timetrials suit him better.

Paris - Nice: Stage 2
The second stage from Paris - Nice is completely flat. This means that we can expect a mass sprint. We will try to place someone in the break though but our main goal is to protect Haedo so he can get a good result in a sprint.
A small break of only three riders today. Klostergard is accompanied by Pelucchi (Europcar) and Betancur (Acqua e Sapone).
Sky (Cavendish) and Movistar organise a chase behind the 3 leaders. We still have to see for who the Spaniards are working as both Ventoso and Rojas are here.
With 20 kms to go and the gap around the one minute mark, Vanmarcke (Garmin) decides to go in the counterattack. This is probably a way to test his legs before the upcoming cobbled classics.
Two other riders try the same only a couple of kilometres later. Anton and Ballan go for it. Surprise to see Anton trying this as we expected him in the tougher stages. Vanmarcke has joined the front group in the meanwhile.
With 10 kms to go, the pack catches the 3 early escapees and Anton. Ballan and Vanmarcke attacked again but would get caught not much later.
After passing the 5 km mark, some riders put in another attack. This time Turgot is leading with again Anton, Hesjedal and Grabsch in his wheel. Nuyens senses this could be succesfull and follows.
They don't succeed though as Rojas brings the pack back while leading out Ventoso. Hutarovych is in his wheel while Haedo is next in a good position with Cavendish in his wheel.
World Champion Cavendish was clearly the strongest here taking a clear win. Ventoso and Hutarovych complete the podium while Haedo sprinted to the 7th place.
Top 10
GC
We showed ourselves in the break and finished on a 7th place. Not great but satisfying.

Thanks guys! dienblad, not really. Haedo should be on the same level as Ventoso and Hutarovych so not so great... PCM rulezz, the podium will be imposible for Paulinho. Top 10 would already be great. Next two stages will be rather lame due to 3 km sprints on uphill finishes instead of 1.5 kms.
Paris - Nice: Stage 3
The 3rd stage is the first stage where gaps can be created. The route starts flat but there are some small hills before the final hard 5 kms will lead to the finish. The gaps will probably not be big though.
Australian champion David Tanner is our guy in the break of the day. He is accompanied by two Italians. Mori from Lampre and Trentin from Quick Step.
One one of the final hills, Tanner who was dropped by the two others get caught by the pack. That's the sign for Rodriguez to put in an attack.
Ballan and Roux followed his lead and also attacked. They all joined the two leaders but there is a strong chase in the pack and they would all get caught on the next hill.
That means the last 5 kms start with everything back together. This should really give some fireworks as we can some attacks.
Not tired after his first try, Rodriguez puts in another dig. Danish champion Sorensen feels good and tries to follow him. They can create a small gap but it's not big enough as they get caught a bit later.
That means the stage will be decided in a group sprint. Uran went hard and is leading right after passing the red kite. Cancellara, Thomas and Ciolek are trying to pass him though.
And it's Cancellara who is the onlyone able to pass Uran. This means the race leader grows his gap on the opposition. Ciolek completes the podium while Haedo, Sorensen, Kroon, Nuyens and Paulinho all finish in the leading group.
Top 10
GC
Sorensen gave it a try on the final hill but couldn't get away. In the end nobody had any energy left to put in a sprint so we couldn't get a top result.

Thanks!
Paris - Nice: Stage 3
This stage looks a lot like yesterday's. Not completely flat but also not very hard so we can expect that the stage will be decided on the uphill sprint.
We once again put someone in the break. Today, it's Kroon showing our jersey. With him are Pineau (Omega Pharma), Bouhanni (FDJ) and Reynes (Lotto).
Team Sky and Movistar clearly believe their sprinters can win here as they start to chase. Movistar might be right cause Ventoso and Rojas are favoured in the uphill sprint. Or are they working for Valverde?
With 20 kms to go, the gap has decreased to 1'. This is the sign for Martinez to try to bridge accross. He succeeds but the whole group is caught a bit later unfortunately.
That doesn't stop other riders from trying. They could be right attacking on this up and down final. You can see Millar and Turgot trying here.
But all attackers get caught so just like yesterday, the stage will be decided in an uphill sprint. Popovych is leading when passing the 1 km to go mark but on the other side of the road you can see Cancellara and Thomas coming to the front.
But they can't really come closer. Everybody was clearly exhausted from the very hard pace all day over this not that easy terrain. Our main guys again don't lose any time.

The Tirreno - Adriatico or race of the two seas is held every year at the same time as Paris - Nice. All riders choose between these two races to prepare the Milano - San Remo. The team we brough here is based on hope that Sorensen can get a top 10 in the overal. Will be tough against some top riders as Schleck and Gesink and the motivated Italians Basso, Scarponi and Cunego. We will have to see who of them is in a good form already this early in the season.
