I have to say i haven't done any big mountians atges yet but I have done the Mountain satge in Oman and Aundulicia ( I think) and the game play was fine- I even attacaked and all

That was in career mode with new patch and real name DB

I just did exactly the same stages, and the gameplay sucked.
1.2.0.0 and RSM.
The peloton came to the finish all together, in all the stages.

Really? Hmmm I will continue and report back.

I should say too that the hilly stages like the one in Australia played very well. again though i attacked and that tore up the bunch.

The races in besseges, marseille etc were realsitic too

Problem is not just moutain AI. I've run some tests in Amstel Gold Race using PCM 2011 and 2012, and it was defintely better in 2011. For example, in PCM 2011, 30 km from the line, there was already some selection, with a main peloton of some 60 riders, and lots of attacks. In PCM 2012 the pack is almost complete (170 riders), and the one or other attack is quickly overriden by the bunch, which is only natural as teams have all the riders to work.

All tests with the last patch and original Cyanide DB. It seems to me the AI is defintely broken.

I just played Amstel in career mode, and play was great. Lots of attacks, finish Gilbert, Vinokurov and my Chavanel. Next: few small groups and two main. For me its great. Patch 1.1.0.3, DB PCM France v3.

i don't know why you guys have so muany problems with the ai. had a pretty decent liege-bastogne-liege. lot's of attacks.

patch 1.2.0.0
pcm daily expansion pack for patch 1.2.0.0
hard difficulty
only classic race mode, no career mode
took team argos and doing absolute nothing to see what will happen.

chraanz
I just did the Mountain stage in Criterium International in carreer mode:
patch 1.2.0.0
pcm daily expansion pack for patch 1.2.0.0
Hard difficulty
I was riding with Francaise des Jeux, and I was not putting any pressure on the pack.

Pretty realistic result. Should say that Rolland attacked early on the second climb, and was caught by Bruseghin and Kadri, who was in the pack all the way.
The pack, which in the end consisted of 12 riders, was led by Movistar all the way in the climb, until Bruseghin attacked at the last 2 km's.

Hmm.. Could be the RSM-News DB's fault, due to the general high stats, i don't know..

kirtley9
Whats everyone tactics in the mountains and hills? I just played a hilly stage and on a small climb before the finish i put my rider on self effort 80 and most of the peloton just flew past him.

Lachi
This is not the correct thread to discuss it.
Also this forum has a section called "tips and tricks" which should answer most of your questions: https://pcmdaily.c...tricks.php

Coramoor
Are you sure you understand how to play mountain stage?

I've never had even slightly off results, Couple of times a strong rider bombed but that was probably a fitness issue. I'm talking staggered results from a 20-30 man group on moderate climbs and on the big HC climbs 5 men tops in the last 3km or so

lettini
here is my first mountain stage with patch 1200 and pcm daily expansion pack
seems to me pretty realistic

I'm still getting only reasonable results using 1.2.0 and PCM Daily Expansion, on Hard difficulty. I think most of these wildly erroneous results people complain of are related to use of bad databases.
It was eleven more than necessary.

I'm playing with Daily Expansion Pack, Patch 1.2.0 and in Hard difficulty.
Every stage i race, the peloton only reduces into 30 riders on the last climb, with the attacks. I put my team working hard, and Cavendish wasn't dropped until the last climb...

And this guy made it until the end with 58 on mountain!!

use the default stats then, i just had more of a breakup in the tour down under, in fact, at the top of the climb, there was only 6 people within 45 seconds of the leader, a group of 21 riders were 53 seconds back, including one guy who probably shouldn't have been, but he was probably just at better fitness then quite a few other guys who got dropped

Finally had time to play a mountain stage in Career on Patch 1.200 with the Daily db.
I played the first mountain stage of the Vuelta with Pinot at 78 Mountain.
I got to the climb, and I thought Pinot was doing well. Sitting at the front, then an attack went, so I decided to lift the pace with Jeannesson protecting him, and Pinot on 85 dot. To my surpsise, Pinot was not losing energy at all, but he quickly dropped to the back of the peloton.

I will test some more stages out, but I think earlier in the career attacking early, got me caught almost right away and then dropped.

I am fairly confident that the new patch does this, but if not, I guess the only guess would be the high RES stats in the Daily db.
I will test a few more career mountains with Daily, then if its hopeless try, a realname db in career.

If that doesn't work, I have 1.0.2.0 installed and can try that version.

My guess is that the different gameplay is due to AI riders being exhausted.

I dont know if this is normal, but playing on Extreme I dominated a mountain stage (against the relative GC riders) as a break was 15mins up the road.

Pinot followed a few attacks by Contador, Sanchez and Purito, then he went on 80 dot and kinda just rode 20 seconds ahead of the 67 man peloton. Frown

But at 4km left I upped his pace to 85 and then attacked with 2km to go. I pulled away from riders which were 5 mountain points higher (7 if you count Extreme difficulty.) As good as it seemed it just didn't seem right.

Also there weren't huge pelotons in the old patch.

I have come up with a theory:

The game is ruined. What the fuck have Cyanide done? I protected this game, because I found it really fun, up until this latest patch. But now, I am getting no enjoyment out of the game.
