Four major riders retired this season; Lars Boom, Marcel Kittel, Andy Schleck and Vincenzo Nibali. Andy Schleck has struggled to achieve any significant results lately and decided it was time to retire. However, retiring might not be the hardest thing to do when you can look back at 4 TdFs, 1 Giro and 2 Vueltas.
France continues its trend of doing well in one-week races and classics, but come up short in 3-week Tours. There is a growing fear within France that Thibaut Pinot, argueably their best rider (on paper) might be considering retirement. The frenchman is definately in danger of going down in history as erhaps the best climber in the world to never have won a 3-week race.
Someone who knows how to win Grand Tours however, is Colombia and Italy. Nairo Quintana was able to secure yet another Giro for his homecountry. The Italian Cesare Tomasi also showed us how it's done in Spain by taking his 2nd Vuelta. Fellow Italian Gabrielle Cinzia might have dissapointed abit in the GC, but won yet another Young Riders-classification in the Giro, aswell as coming 2nd in the Vuelta, just behind Colombian Brayan Morales.
Belgian rider Tosh van der Sande has been a force to be reckoned with in the spring classics and shorter races for several years now and this was no exception. By winning both Gent - Wevelgem and Eneco Tour he has equalled the overall record in both races with 3 wins. Gent - Wevelgem also gave us a new equalled record with Marko Kump taking his 3rd win.
And if some of you think that you've seen a similar result in the end of the season before, then you are correct. Tomasi winning the Vuelta and the WC RR aswell as a russian winning the WC ITT has happened before, this is the excact same result that we got back in 2022. Back then is was Artem Overchin winning the ITT.

Probably more hilly than mountainous parcours. Like this year's Vuelta. |

A good Hilly rider can win the Vuelta in PCM11 by creating decent sized gaps over the better Mountain riders on the easier stages. |

I'd like to know if you have any suggestion about how I can improve the story? More images, more updates, etc... How is the lay out with results and such?
Keep in mind, since this is a bit of a "different" story I can't give detailed reports about the stages in the races since I don't race them.

Very interesting to follow. More detail on the Grand Tour GCs would be nice though. How close has Pinot come to winning one during his career?

More images would be good Just so that it's easier to identify with the rider who are winning the races. That said it's been very interesting so far |

Tosh van der Sande has written his name in the history - with capital letters. By winning both Ronde van Vlaanderen and Eneco Tour for a 4 time he now holds the record for both races with 4 overall wins. He won RVV in 2017, 2020, 2024 and 2025 and Eneco Tour in 2019, 2020, 2024 and 2025.
Van der Sande wasn't the only one who had yet another great season. Frenchman Loic Collignon yet again dominated the early parts of the season. He crowned his season by coming first in the CQ-classification aswell as winning the Velo d'Or.
The Grand Tours gave us several memorable moments. In the Giro Gabrielle Cinzia finally took the top place on the podium after winning the Youth Jersey 3 years in a row. Germany has cemented their place as a nation of stage races yet again. Arthur Meyer won the Tour de France coming just infront of last years winner, Joost Dieter, making it a 1-2 for Germany.
The Vuelta however was a completely different story. You can argue that this season gave us the biggest surprise we have ever seen when Latvian rider Marks Ozolins not only won the Vuelta, but also took both the Point- and KoM-jersey. It was a shock indeed, but he did get a 15th place last year.
